New Atronach Mounts in Crown Crates

Wondering if the mounts are already in the crates or will they be added in a later update and when they are added what are the chances of them being obtainable. Like on a scale from $30 to $100.

There are no Crown Crates in the live game. There is no eta for Crown Crates in the live game. We hope they do not add the Crown Crates to the Live Game. And, threads like this might give them the impression that people might want to deal with these things.

So, we don't know and the only way to test them is on the PTS, and no way to know if those drop rates are what we would expect if they ever make it to Live.

I want to say the chances were really poor and more towards $250. There are a few threads in the pts section that break it down. But as @Nestor said the drop rates may be different on live.

@DahliaNight 30-100 ? After testing it on PTS I would say $200 atleast.

The crates are not in the store yet, but it seems that the Atronach Mounts will be indeed part of the first batch of "Apex Rewards".

ZOS didn't tell us the chances, but many of us tried the crates in the PTS.

I have my spreadsheet open so I can tell you my results. I opened 13 crates every day they were available. After opening 78 crates, I only had 365 Gems, 35 short from enough to buy an Apex reward. I dropped no Apex reward. To get more than 400 gems, I had to open 85 crates total to get 400 gems. That is 34.000 Crowns. How many dollars is that? You would have to buy the 5500 Crows pack 6 times and then 1000 more Crowns.

C'mon comrade, this is barely any evidence, on Steam itself there is more than 7k players on prime time (even more now with 1T). And we know how people are much more vocal when they want give negative feedback about something.

Once again, "we" is way too much people, you should start using "part of us".

So using @Abeille test:

if you bought all 6 crown packs on sale 23.99 x 6 =143.94 plus whatever a pack of 1000 costs.
if you bought all 6 crown packs full price 39.99 x 6 =239.94 plus whatever a pack of 1000 costs.

Pretty crappy odds either way.

It's probably a good guess atronach themed crates will be first since they are what was tested on pts. As Nestor mentioned, they are not live yet.

When I tested the crates it took like $250ish to get a mount to drop if I recall correctly.

Someone got the wolf atronach mount on her first crate.

Some people spent 5500 pts crowns every day for 8 days (that's how long they could be tested on pts) and did not receive any of the atronach mounts. That 44000 crowns. $319.92 USD (I think, I'm Canadian so not sure) if buying the 5500 crown packs.

Zos also mentioned some very vague changes that would happen to the crates before they go live.

I'm not willing to test them on live.

@Nestor, Regardless of my thread crown crates are going to be a reality whether or not people like it. I was trying to ask a question not have someone tell me what I should and should not post.

To everyone else thanks for the info, hearing that the drop rate is probably in the $250 makes me dissapointed but hopefully once it comes live the drop rate is increased.

I love the idea of crown crates and I would spend hundreds of dollars to be the first rich kid on my block to ride an atronach.

You can't put RNG on a scale. It's a chance per purchase, which could be the first time for somebody, and statistically never for somebody else.

That's the core issue with the crates. Unregulated gambling (from both external and internal angles) does not have some sort of safety cone. If the crates were 400 crowns and just an assortment of time-saving potions and upgrades, fine. That's fair. But when you start shoving in things that have a perceived value far higher than the cost of entry, that's manipulation. Especially with the gems. How many people ever manage to buy something of greater value than their carnival tickets cost to acquire? A few break even. Most people lose money.

I'm not going to be manipulated into supporting this game. Luckily, I already know that in the eternal battle of giving $20 to a scumbag who can't manage money versus buying $20 of pizza for my friends, pizza will win out every single time.

If you want to try the crates out on Black Fredas, fine. Just know there's absolutely no guarantee that you'll earn more than you spent.

Your chances are something closer to $200-$500 for an Atronach Mount. At least according to what we saw on PTS. They claim to be adjusting things but I seriously doubt the change will make a serious difference in what you will have to spend on Crates to get the mounts you want. And even spending that much on crates theres no guarantee youll get the Mount you want. And will find yourself buying it with the Gems.....But by then ZOS will be going to the bank with your money and youd have spent a week + of earnings on a digital mount that will disappear the moment they shut down the servers.


Do yourself a favor and stay away from this predatory business model.

@Acrolas I figured as much I've played Neverwinter I just hoped ZOS would've been different.

I mean Neverwinter makes sense their game is free and all of their Dlc is free as well, on the other hand you have to pay for every Dlc clothing cosmetics and unique mounts in ESO.

And even in Neverwinter you still have a chance to get some of the Zen market items with in-game currency through the Trade house they have. Not saying I want ZOS to implement that feature but maybe add in a system to the RNG that after everytime you don't get an exclusive item your chances will increase 5% or 10%.

Nestor is speaking for the vast majority of the community, at least insofar as visit these forums and ESO's reddit.

The original ETA for Crown Crates was late November I believe, said by one of the ZOS devs at PAX West. Whether that still holds I have no idea.

Bear in mind Gina said they are making huge changes to the Crown Crate system before it releases based upon our PTS feedback. This means the rates and calculations performed on the PTS likely have zero bearing on the final system we'll get next month.

But you can't build good word of mouth if you keep reinventing your game every year or so. People don't like change, they like improvement. And in every iteration there were improvements but also a lot of changes.

I still like the basis of the game but I don't feel like I can recommend it openly. It's too experimental in its direction.

@Mic1007 If I had a choice in the matter I would never want them either to be honest I'm doing just fine buying my exclusive mounts I sort of became a huge exclusive mount collector and knowing that there's going to be mounts that I just simply won't be able to get without blowing $300 really throws me off from the game as it does Neverwinter, which is why I asked what the chances would be.

If there were a petition to keep them away I would most definitely sign it.

I've spent $200 on crowns in preparation for this. This is something I want, I don't see why everyone should feel entitled to buy the same things for a cheap price.

There is already a lack of rarity in content; everyone can make gold 160 gear, anyone can farm set pieces and everyone can participate in the weekly content to get a few trial pieces.

What I haven't seen are RARE items in the game. Elderscrolls games have always centered themselves around collecting; and for me this is an opportunity to enjoy myself and have a little excitement opening crates.

I literally get the same adrenaline from opening crates as I do VD bombing an entire raid and getting 20k TV...

I am really sad to read a statement like this. See, if you would spend $200 on the crown store for items you want, which are not just a chance to get them, but where you know what you buy with it - namely a bunch of items, where you decide, if you want them or not - this would be ok, if you can afford it. But reading, that you get an adrenaline rush from opening RNG crates is a serious sign of you being prone to get into a gambling addiction. A normal person has no adrenaline rush from gambling and that is why they normally do not gamble, because it is boring. But for you it has this rush, and if I would be you, I would stay the heck away from any gambling like activity - you are prone to become seriously addicted and this can have quite bad consequences for your life. Think twice, before you even consider to engage in this. In the end you have to make the decision, but you should be aware of that you are having a much greater risk to take than others due to how you feel with this.

Once gambling addicted, this will not stay with the RNG crates, you will sooner or later as well go to casinos and waste money there and your life could get largely out of order. Seriously, how you feel about it, makes you prone to get addicted. Stay away from it.

Your need to educate yourself if you think this is where money from Crown Crates will go. I assume your a good player from your signature block...just too bad your common sense / business acumen isn't at the same level.
