Do you think the new World Bosses repeats the same mistake as Craglorn did at launch?

Some context to this question is that I see the same mistake with World Bosses that I saw with Craglorn. Everyone fawning over the difficulty and then weeks later no one attempts them anymore making it such a pain to form a group to clear it for completing the zone.

They don't even have quests associated with them to give people motivation to group up and do them. The only ones who want to keep this are those who want to group with their friends and have a challenge which they can do at Craglorn, dungeons and trials.

It just isn't practical to the majority of casual gamers and caters to elitists who have the time and friends to play with. It also makes it hard to play as you like if you are a solo type player that likes to merge with groups for group content but chill out and grind when they want to.

Yes, all this does is make easier bosses targeted for farming while the 4 mans are ignored and harder to get a group to attempt.

I would like them to modify it so its difficult for a single player, slightly easier with a second and a push over with more.

I think that there is a lot of solo content. Plus you dont need to be in a group to kill the boss while other players are fighting him.
    Because I can!

I am fine as it is.

Perhaps ZOS should add some more farm nodes and NPC within sight distance to make waiting more useful.

i'm not going to vote because the way you have worded the options is so skewed to your (obvious) opinion.

i like what they have done with bosses.... they are bosses again. you should not be able to solo them, makes no sense.

    I think they're good.

On my lvl50 (CP300ish), I haven't found one yet that I can't solo, just using my standard PVP build - takes a while though.

On my Magsorc (lvl41) - did one last night with 3 other random players. I ended up tanking it so blew through a lot of magicka on shields and would have probably ran out before it dropped if I was on my own. Possibly if I'd prepared pots and built specifically for it(more sustain + pets), I *may* have been able to solo it - not sure.

But to me that feels right.. too hard sub-50, but able to come back and solo them post-50 and geared/built for it. And if farming them, its obviously a lot quicker in a group.

I think the Craglorn problem was that some quests could not be done without a group due to quest mechanics (which also required others to be at the same stage in the same quest at the same time) - and also nothing that dropped was CP160, so nobody had an incentive to go there.

    There is zone chat

You can group up and go to the other bosses as well together, or stay grinding together for the items you want.

They should add (meaningful) daily quests for these bosses (similar to the bosses in Wrothgar and the Gold Coast). Look at the 2 bosses in Hew's Bane for a counter example: virtually nobody is doing them anymore as there are few reasons for doing them (most people have the style already and the dropped sets are rarely used)

The problem with Craglorn was that the content was not rewarding, and it got worse when ZOS nerfed xp gains to the ground.

It remained a challenging content for solo but with awful rewards. Most players would just go do something else that was easier and more rewarding.

It got even worse when the cap increased but the stuff dropped in Craglorn remained VR11-12.

That was the actual mistake, that's why it ended up being hard to find a group for it. There was no reason to do it. It became obsolete. Before the nerfs, it was packed.

World Bosses will become obsolete like Craglorn eventually, but for different reasons:
1 - People will eventually get everything they want, the sets will be dirt cheap and the number of people farming them will shrink.
2 - As new sets are released with new DLC, some sets people are very excited about right now will be outperformed by those new sets.

    That's my observations, at least.

Just so that everyone knows, my Altmer still can't have black hair. About a dozen of Altmer NPCs in the game have black hair. Just saying.

    Meet my characters:
    Command: Do the thing.

Zadarri, Khajiit Fist of Thalmor: The thing was done, as commanded.
Durza gra-Maghul, Orc blacksmith: The thing was done perfectly, in the most efficient way.
Tegwen, Bosmer troublemaker: You can't prove I didn't do the thing.
Sings-Many-Songs, Argonian fisher: Sure, I'll do the thing... Eventually. Maybe.
Aerindel, Altmer stormcaller: After extensive research, I've come to the conclusion that doing the thing would be a waste of resources.
Liliel, Dunmer pyromancer: Aerindel said I shouldn't do the thing. Something about "resources".
Gyda Snowcaller, Nord cryomancer: I will find a way to do it that won't waste resources and make Aerindel proud of me.
Beatrice Leoriane, Breton vampire: I persuaded someone else into doing the thing. You are welcome, dear.
Sahima, Redguard performer: Doing the thing sounds awfully unpleasant and really not my problem.
Ellaria Valerius, Imperial priestess: I'll pray to the Eight for the thing to be done, if it is Their will.

First of all, Wrothgar bosses were really popular for almost a year now.

Second, you need a quest in order to receive a set item from Wrotghar bosses, but overland bosses now drop sets by default.

Telling us we have Craglorn is just like if I was to tell you that you have... well pretty much everything else.

Its not as straightforward as the OP suggests in the vote options.

Ive been to bosses where myself and a high CP player could take down without problem. Ive then struggled for 10 minutes with some where there were 4 players at similar level to myself. (below 200CP)

I agree the fights are much harder but ive not had one yet where there wasn’t someone along soon to help. This may be due to skull farming so its hard to see for sure what will happen come november.

I like then being tougher as I couldn't get my head around pre OT that I could solo a world boss but then get caught off guard by a random troll.

They should have daily Town quest where players need to kill off a world boss in that zone. And these quest would differ, player from player. That way, you don't have thousand and one players camping a world boss.

Craglorn was conceived as a whole zone dedicated exclusively to group play. It could have succeeded at that, had the rewards been better. Bar the nirnhoned item from one of the main quests, the others were simply vendor/decon trash. Drops from anomalies, rifts, Ankha-Ra shrines and nirncrux mines were bad as well so people didn't feel the urge to complete them a second time, or even complete them at all, once nirncrux items were researched and became available from other players. After the level cap was raised to VR14, then VR16, the rewards became even less attractive because they stayed VR11/13. Completed Craglorn on my main back in spring and it was a pain to group for the quests precisely because no other people wanted to waste 1/2 to 1h doing those quests and delves for an useless green, underleveled, non set item.

Both Craglorn and world bosses from the rest of Tamriel now drop fully leveled set gear. That's what drives people to group for them. So my conclusion is that they could have probably left Craglorn as it was. Changing the rewards alone could have done the trick of bringing people back there for other activities than nirncrux farming. As for the world bosses upping the difficulty so they require a group of up to 4 people was necessary precisely because the drops are desirable and those bosses are farmed. If they were too easy to kill, it would lead to a lot of frustration, since an average player could easily "ninja" their loot, just like it now happens with public dungeon and dolmen bosses, leaving the others empty handed. From what I've seen, neither public dungeons nor dolmens were not changed, bar from the scaling to CP160 so the mobs and bosses are still very easy to solo for an average CP160+ player. IMO ZoS should have boosted both dolmens and public dungeons to the point where they can't be easily soloed, at least boss wise.

I think the range of build variation power needs to be addressed.
That way world bosses can be scaled effectively rather than as a compromise.
    See above link.

They are soloable for extreme builds.
They require 4 or more normal players.
    That is the problem.

For skilled players they are soloable, but challenging. This is good
For slightly less skilled players, they can be done with two and are a great way to practice rotations while avoiding the big damage.
For those who don't want or aren't up to the challenge, then they can group. This is perfect for just about everyone.

I can solo any of them at least I didnt met any that I couldnt kill. For me the hardest was Dolmen in Wrothgar rest was pretty straight forward. Problem with craglorn wasnt strength of monsters (ive soloed most of its content - must admit that upper crag was chalenging though) but those dumb presure plates... Artificial barier. World boss should be difficult. You have to have some way to meassure your strength. Now you are not able to solo this boss. Play a bit, change setup, gear, rotation and try again ;) one day you will notice that boss lays dead at your feet, you will be more than proud ;)

Eh, MOST are still easily soloed, its just a little tedious. Zones feel alive right now, and it feels awesome to actually have the kind of spontaneous interactions wtih other players these currently promote.

If zones get quieter after the gear grind slows down, then sure they might need a little toning down.

EDIT: the big issue with Craglorn that killed it was the literal requirement to bring X amount of players. The difficulty, while high at times, was okay. These bosses do not have mechanics that require multiples, so the comparison doesn't really play. A good player can solo them, decent players can duo them.
