You think you have it bad? "Non-stop since One Tamriel!"haha
If you want a good game with a fair loot system, go play Black Desert.
Folks I agree 100% on being able to change traits but you are preaching to the deaf ears of ZOS on this matter. In addition a token system has been requested time and time again for the purpose of purchasing the item or items you want with the traits you want once you have obtained a pre-determined amount. Again preaching to deaf ears.

Changing traits will never happen as that would immediately destroy grinding in End Game content and ZOS wouldn't be able to pump out enough content to keep end gamers happy as they'd already get BiS gear with justa simply trati change.
I made a thread about gear style change a few minutes ago and your idea for a Trait change would be entirely possible to merge on the system I envisioned. Here is the link:

No.
Farm more.
No trait changes. What would be the bloody point of running any content more than once?
There's enough easy mode in this game already.

I've been farming spriggan 1h sharpened mace 7/24 since one tamriel drop but it didnt dropped. Very rarely a 1h mace drops but its always useless trait like defending or training.
Whats the point playing this game if i dont get anything i want with hundreds of play time? Literally i farmed 7/24 but no sharpened 1h mace. This is totally plainly STUPID.
We should be able to change our traits with 8 kuta or 8 tempered alloy or whatever that would be fair and logical.
@ZOS please give us the ability change our traits on next big patch

I am now just waiting until gear levels go up to CP180 and all the farming must be done again.
ZOS are in a situation now - they cannot up gear without allowing us to change traits. It will happen.

I'm sorry...
I seem to have read "casual" and "competitive" in the same sentence.
Well... I want to eat kosher while alive, but go to heaven after I die.

@Dubhliam where did I mention "casual"?
Competition should be based on skill and not on the amount of time you put into a RNG grindfest.
And thanks for the insightful comment.

I hate having to redo gear over and over again.
In the days they were upping level every couple of months...it became insane.
Yet I do see the need to maybe once a year force people to change their build and think about alternative setups in the process.
The game does change and people should be encouraged to at least look at other playstyles from time to time.
Just not every patch.
The main reason people hated the gear levelling was the amount of grind hours, gold and RNG associated with it.
Everybody has their own pain tolerance of course and many luck out on RNG where others live in perpetual damnation.
99% of the playerbase, simply doesnt have 8 hours a day to devote to the game, to get get back on par again.
You cant build a game around people who sit at home all day and dont have to face this 'external life and commitments' requirement.
So how do you minimise the pain of the grind hours, RNG and gold ?
You remove all and any aspects of that which are there for no reason.
Doing the content ....should give the right reward (a specific set piece in the 'unchangable' trait of your choice).
Its bad enough I have to RNG 1/3+ mixed sets, its bad enough I then have to face the stacked 1/3 ~ 1/7 set piece lottery...
...but then I have to do a trait lottery on top..even though the enchantment and quality can be changed at leisure !
Thats just forced labour for no reason other than being bloody minded and spiteful.
Sure there is people that enjoy it, but there are people that like being hung from a ceiling while skewered by giant meat hooks.
I am sure that works for them but not for me
Dopped Gear.
Level - fixed (not really a problem as gear drops according to your level and )
Style - fixed (arguable over if this should be changable. If you change it, it ceases to be the recognisable named set)
Trait - fixed (either enchantment and quality need to be made unchangable or trait needs to be made changable = consistancy)
Enchantement - user changeable
Quality - user changeable
In a game where all gear is equally balanced and experimenting with all gear requires them to be easily accessable,
locking gear behind unnecessary RNG and other gates is completely counter productive.
Especially if you want to encourage build variation through experimentation.
The rarity of Gold, purple, blue, green drops and their tempers should be the only thing that inflences the power level of gear.
IMHO.
The real argument should be whether QUALITY should effect SET BONUS.
