Hey there! sorry if I am being salty or not but title says it all, why is zos so biased towards PC ? if they are professional like they claim they are and charge everyone equal money for copy of game then why is their difference ? why can only PC part take in PTS not consoles ? why do PC get their patches a week or 2 late ? why do PCs have addons but not consoles ? why can only PC pay for 180 days eso+ and save Save £24 per year ?

Its ture I agree PC is master but this is a MMO RPG which gets it major amount of sales and customers from consoles aswell!

they need to be fair and equal with all

PS: Sorry for any grammatical errors or errors in general english is not my first language ^-^

why can only PC part take in PTS not consoles?

Because PC bought a PC version of the game. If I want to play on console... I need to buy a console version.

Would you like to also buy the game for every account... instead of everyone in the house sharing one copy? ;) Each version has it's own perks.

PC gets patches first because it doesn't have to go through cert by the console companies. So imagine.. PC and Console versions get worked on equally... then are done at the same time... PC can go up, while console first has to go through certification by Sony/Microsoft.

I thought they added 6 month subs to consoles? Or was that only 1 of the consoles?

Console gets patches at a later time because Microsoft and Sony have certification processes that they have to go through. Updates are submitted and the console companies have to approve them before they go out through their networks.

Mods is also a restriction by the console companies. Generally (and we're seeing this start to change), Microsoft and Sony do not want consumer created software running on their networks and platforms. PC gets around this because there is no company over-seeing what happens on your PC.

I don't know what the equal money bit is about because despite having a copy of ESO on PS4, I've never looked at the ESO+ on it, but as always, I am guessing this has to do with deals that Zenimax made with Microsoft and Sony. I know each one has a slightly different way they do their billing, when the ESO+ time takes effect and when the crowns you get with it are deposited.

At the end of the day, blame Microsoft and Sony.

Edit: to summarize - ZOS can pretty much do whatever they want with PC but they have certain guidelines from the console manufacturers that they have to stick with to be allowed to have their game on the consoles.

Sony and MS have strict requirements and validation procedures that must be handled before new content can be released. And I believe there are costs that must be paid to Sony/MS for this validation. A PTS for consoles would make little sense because the PTS has many incremental changes over the month it is actively testing. The time lag between submitting and getting Sony/MS to approve, and the expenses involved, would make console PTS both expensive and a poor testing environment.

Basically, Sony and MS are gigantic corporations with a lot of red tape. That does not work well if you want quick, rapid, frequent deployment of patches.

Also, Sony and MS do this because they have big networks with millions upon millions of players. They bear a lot of responsibility for what goes through that network. While ZOS have issues with bugs and unfixed exploits and overpowered/underpowered skills, I don't think any of of us here consider them malicious or likely to infect us with viruses and trojan horses. But Sony/MS will not take any chances. The last thing they need is a developer saying, "Just push this patch/fix through. Trust us." And then the fix infects the entire PSN or XBox Live network, spreading to million of consoles or bringing the whole network down. Sony/MS would be on the hook for not properly vetting the patch.

ZOS have nothing against consoles. The console companies are simply very risk-averse (and probably rightly so) and want to spend time inspecting and validating new code and data from ZOS before releasing it.

true but then everything is a matter of perspective and opinion then, but I think that if you are paying for something same as everyone else you should have at the same time as others then otherwise decrease the price

Not everything, because the facts are that Sony and Microsoft have a validation process the software has to go through. It is a hurdle that ZOS must overcome to provide you with the game. You don't have to agree with how they do it, but it is what it is.

Everything said here about certification is true. I've worked in the game industry for over 16 years and have dealt with both Microsoft and Sony's certifications.

Some publishers withhold all the SKUs until they are all approved. That's why COD comes out on all platforms the same time.

However, its better that the PC version comes out first as if there are any major issues, they can be fixed quickly and those fixes applied to console before release. If a console patch goes out and it's broken, it could be weeks before a new patch is certified and released.

As for the PTS, all patches have to be certified on console, so that would drag out the PTS timing adding multiple weeks to each build. So instead of a 1 month PTS cycle, it would be 2-3 months. Which would delay content release.

Lastly, many PC users were subscribers since the launch a year ahead of console. So in reality, many PC players have paid more for the game than console users.

Maybe you should read requirements of consoles before you starting posting. XBOX and Playstation regulate what is put on their platforms. So go *** at SONY and Microsoft. It has nothing to do with ZoS.

Well ZOS is actually biased towards consoles, not PC. If this game would not be required to run on consoles, the whole engine would be much faster, the graphics nicer, the handling better etc...

Sadly there are many people out there who want to play on their TV and dont know how to get a controler to work with their PC or connect TV and PC. So we probably will have to deal with games that need to be crippled for consoles in the future as well

They aren't wrong answers. They are just not the ones you want to hear.

ZOS has stated a few times console patches are delayed due to the certification process. The mods issue is basically the same thing. Sony and MS would have to allow consumer made software to run on their networks for ESO mods, and at this time that's just not in their playbooks. F04 Mods are different because those come directly vetted by Bethesda through an interface in the game. ZOS does not have anything in place that does the same, all ESO mods are third party obtained.

HOPEFULLY, the gains in modding from the Fo4 will pave the way for modding to be more prevalent in games on console in the future.

It's also fair to mention that it gives ZoS a chance to work out some bugs or refine the patch before going to console. So, in theory, console should have a more refined Update release when it's ready.

Edit: to summarize - ZOS can pretty much do whatever they want with PC but they have certain guidelines from the console manufacturers that they have to stick with to be allowed to have their game on the consoles.

how come cod and bf never have this problem and all their updates are synced on all platforms....

You are wrong D3x, 1st do ur homework, BF and COD patch dont come on every platform at same time. With previous version of COD PS get patch 1st, Other thing if you dont know abt Sony/MS holding patches then plz search online. You will get answer urself.

Why should PC players have content and fixes held back because the peasant platform has to certify their patches?

Right! thanks alot for everyone answering and being friendly and helpful, as a conclusion blame MS and sony, they hold the patches.

but still what about in-game stuff, something that addons do like a buff tracker, why hasnt zos made it yet ? can be embedded in game itself like chat

Hey there! sorry if I am being salty or not but title says it all, why is zos so biased towards PC ? if they are professional like they claim they are and charge everyone equal money for copy of game then why is their difference ? why can only PC part take in PTS not consoles ? why do PC get their patches a week or 2 late ? why do PCs have addons but not consoles ? why can only PC pay for 180 days eso+ and save Save £24 per year ?

Well, this is going downhill fast, so let's see if I can expand on what MissBizz said before it gets locked or moderated.

PC gets patches first because it doesn't have to go through cert by the console companies

As it turns out, "console company" is the standard answer to everything asked.

    1. ZOS does not dictate what subscription options a console player can use. This is also determined by Sony and Microsoft, and if they don't want to do it, it ain't gonna happen. Remember that when you buy from the Console Store, you are not buying from ZOS/Bethesda. You are buying from Sony or Microsoft.

    2. As MissBizz said, ZOS has to go through approval from Microsoft and Sony to release patches and updates. This can take one or two weeks, which means that ZOS rolls out to PC while waiting for certification. It also limits how fast ZOS can do updates, and eliminates a "hot fix" in all but the most extreme circumstances, if they even allow extreme circumstances.

    3. Offering PTS on the consoles would complicate things a lot. They might need to have a PTS server for every platform, and go through a 2 week certification every time they wanted to update it on the console box. If you search, someone from ZOS addressed this point a while back. It is easier, and faster, to run PTS as a PC/Mac exercise simply because Microsoft and Sony are not in the middle of it.

Personally, I view the benefit of being able to sit in the family room and play ESO on the TV to be offset by having to deal with Microsoft and Sony in everything else about the game.

I don't really know anything about those games, but I suspect the devs are withholding the PC patch until the console patches are ready.

probably are which is fair and better, if price is same then everything should be same

That's just a matter of opinion and perspective there.

true but then everything is a matter of perspective and opinion then, but I think that if you are paying for something same as everyone else you should have at the same time as others then otherwise decrease the price

Well, currently, ZOS policy is to release patched "when they are ready", which means there's a delay for console because of their certification process.

If they decided to actually hold the PC/Mac patches for two weeks because of Microsoft/Sony, how would that be fair to us, since those companies have nothing to do with us?

Sony and Microsoft are almost the ONLY reason why the console versions have less features.

All patches made to a PS4/XBOX game have to be aproved by the company. This usually takes 2 weeks.
PS4 and XBOX Don't allow addons because they fear it might complicate or break their systems, while PCs are usually more "try it at your own risk".

ZoS releases patches on PC before they are ready. That way PC users beta test for the console release :)

I won't repeat what everyone else has said about the console Certification process as the reason for the lack of a PTS on Console.

Just the simple release dates for any/all DLC, Updates, and Patches is a testament to the Sony/Microsoft required certification processes.

It's those very certifications that cause the PC to get a new DLC, and then almost exactly two weeks later the same content arrives on the consoles.

Having a PTS on consoles, and then figuring in the incremental patches/updates to things being tested on the PTS; then figuring in that even those incremental patches/updates would have to be certified on their own separately... It's just not efficient in any way to run a PTS for the consoles.

So, PC gets the PTS, Consoles don't.
