My Attribute Numbers Decreasing with Level-Up

I am playing Coldharbor (new game) and noticed that my attribute totals are decreasing with a level up. This is with no gear buffs, food, etc. At level 5 my magicka is 14,678, at level 6 14,554 or 124 less. Health was 16,921 then 16,877 or 44 less. My stamina increased because this is where I put my level up points.

Before the latest patch attributes always increases with every level up. Am I missing something?

That is a downside of the battle leveling mechanic implimented with One Tamriel. Part of it scaling you to CP 160 is how close your gear level it to your character level. Everything you go up in level the disparity increases and lowers your scaled stats.

Battle leveling favors lower level characters (for obvious reasons).

Your gear is much more important now and you need to keep it up to date in order to stay ahead of the curve.

Yeah, it's the battle leveling... but, to be fair, I have to agree with the OP: it makes no sense.
You should not be expected to craft gear every two levels in order for your stats not to decrease, that's ridiculous.

Have you opened any treasure chests lately? Or completed any quests? Or finished a dolmen?

Set gear is dropping like candy out of a piñata ...

i have played 6 toons to lvl 50 just using drops/loot.

Yeah, true that... I'm swimming in drops just by questing... Nevertheless, rules have changed and it's logical that some people will find this strange at first.

Just to point out, while it is a symptom of battle leveling, just updating your equipment wont fix it.

For example as a level 10 with a full set of decent crafted purple gear you will have a lot of health and or mag/stam. And a truck load of regen. At max level purpled out on the exact same sets at the proper level your stats will be much lower.

While you will have a better build and probably more flexability, the game gives you more stats at lower levels for not having that.

Anyway to sum up as you level even if you keep your gear up to date, your stats will go down. Most of them.

^^ Good point... and now that you explain it clearly, it sounds logical. Though, it's a bit counter-intuitive when you lack the big picture.
