Crafted sets are really falling short now

Besides twice born star all other sets have better alternatives in bonuses+ they can have jewlery too.

with all the new sets introduced crafted sets became even more uselss, Hundings already lost its place and julianos is also starting to fall behind.

Crafted sets need improvements or add more better crafted sets and jewelcrafting would also help with that a lot.

Twiceborn with full divines is still sacrificing useful set piece bonuses (3 main stat buffs? gross) for the idea that none of the set 5th bonuses are as good as your 2nd fav mundus stone.

No jewelcrafting for already existing sets, if jewelcrafting is to be added it should only be for new sets. Will be to broken otherwise.

Jewelcrafting would change everything, so it makes no difference whether existing crafted sets get them. Everything would have to be retuned.

    Wrong,

Jewelry crafting needs to be done for Craft-able sets, like Night silence, hundings, julionos ETC.. any set that can be crafted should have Jewelry crafting now, especially since every dropped set, (except for Agility, Endurance and Willpower that is jewelry, and the Monster sets that are special) has Jewelry (Necklace and Rings) that can drop with One Tamriel at max level..

Agree with second pass and jewelry crafting on crafted sets. Would also like for them to consider adding new crafted sets now that there exist 30 redundant crafting stations in the alliance zones with One Tamriel. Maybe add 3 or so per update.

IMO, crafted sets should be the best stuff in the game.

Agree with this, crafting sets with high research requirements, say 8 and 9 trait, should really be the best in the game. More to drive people to be enthusiastic about researching than any other reason.

To be honest, as a player who only uses crafted armour, basically for visual reasons, they could probably dump and replace at least half of the crafted sets, I love my hundings rage but there is some real garbage out there

It's about time they put an end to the need to choose between looking the way you want and the power of your character, at the moment when they play the way you want it comes with the caveat that if you want to chew up the toughest content in the game your going to have to use a costume because underneath you'll look a complete mess

Id love jewelry crafting but we can use dropped sets for that, the helm, and the weapon as they look okay, what we need are some more options so that every dps useing crafted gear does not feel the have to use one of 3 or 4 sets.

Well crafted stuff have the advantage of picking the exact needed piece, trait and style, so they shouldn't be better than dropped sets, however they should be at least as good. now only 2 sets are worthwhile and even then there are better alternatives

I'd take a more middle ground on what should be "best." The hardest content in the game should drive and be instrumental in what is actually best with some grindy daily type things added on (Monster sets ie).

Other games managed this by having crafting materials actually drop in their end game raids along with gear, but ESO really isn't setup for that kind of crafting. Not super sure how they'd manage it, but I'm sure they could figure out a way.

In essence there should be some mix between needing a # of researched traits + some special dropped material coming out of the veteran trials to create some really ultimate armor.

Basically the only REAL reason you'd need such powerful gear is to complete the hardest content in the game. There's no reason a casual player that enjoys running normal dungeons should even consider having access to the best stuff as they simply do not need it. They may want it, granted, but they do not truly NEED it.

My 2c on what should be best aside, the crafted sets are lacking pretty badly right now (TBS however is as good if not better than what many of you give it credit for) as TBS is basically the "it" for both stamina and magicka DPS.

We also should really quantify what is truly "hard." Researching traits is NOT hard; it is time consuming. HM Veteran Trials are, however, hard. There is a distinct difference as anyone given enough time can research traits, whereas not even a slim fraction of the player base is capable of clearing these extremely demanding veteran trials.

I'd be cool with crafted sets being BIS or as good as BIS if the majority of people actually made their own sets. From my 1+ years of experience this is far from the truth. 90% of new players upon hitting 160 cp = LF master crafter WILL TIP WELL, need XXXXXX in XXXXXX!!

Like no. Imo crafted sets are indeed outdated and something needs to be done to retune them. This I can agree with. But they should be nowhere near BIS. At best Id say they should be about 80-90% as good as dropped sets. Some crafted sets like tavas, seducers, kags, TBS already see lots and lots of play and arent going to go away anytime soon. My tank runs tavas, my PvP magplar runs seducers etc. But to re-balance every single set to be as good as (if not better) than dropped sets kinda makes farming for dropped sets pointless. Why do that 2hr vDSA run or that 1hr++ trial if u can just slap on crafted gear that is as good? Sure you can do it for fun but a considerable portion of that fun is finding that shiny gold lewt at the end that is a slight upgrade to ur build.

On the plus side, this thread is more likely the stay on the first page in the Crafting forum than it is in the General forum.

Crafting is no different that most other parts of the game for ZOS. They don't even bother to say "no comment". They just say nothing. Crafting is nothing special in this regard.

They are going to get the sets, whether they want them or not. The real challenge is that, with all the different sets, getting the ones that are needed at a decent quality. Players that assume that the game drops what they need, rather than what the RNG says they need, will think they should be wearing a mashup of wildly different sets.

What ZOS should be doing is giving sets properties, like enchanting runes or alchemy ingredients, such that different sets can benefit each other when worn. Maybe boosting the primary attribute (Magicka,Health,Stamina) such that just wearing two or more "Magicka" armor items will boost max Magicka, even if you don't get the set bonus, which might be more.

So from what I have seen people tend to agree crafting gear should be on par... but the fact you can buy from others makes it too easily obtainable compared to other item sets...

so what about this... crafting stations that are BIS that create gear that is BOP... potentially with jewelry crafting linked to this, truly rewarding those players who have dedicated months to get the researches... and the materials for the items.

But there have been 9 traits since launch with no indication they're adding more.

Do all of you "crafting should be bis" people honestly think just because someone learned their traits at launch they should have immediate access to best in slot gear forever?

It takes a whopping couple hours of farming to get the mats needed for a 5 set of cp160 armor and yellow mats aren't as expensive as everyone thinks

takes 6+ months to get 9 traits to every slot... and no it wasn't 9 traits since launch. Craglorn was a later update (with nirn).

What i am talking about is rewarding the crafters themselves, as it is much easier now for a non crafter to gear (since they can use a friend with max traits) compared to someone who prefers to craft themselves if they know the traits... so some sort of bonus that can only be acquired if you are the crafter yourself, not simply getting someone else to make you gear for you to instantly be competitive moment you get CP ranks.

Personally, I am against more BoP.

A lot of time is spent learning this, and I am not opposed to the time spent, but there has to be a reward for getting that far, when others don't, and BoP is not it.

I am fine with the idea of rewarding crafters for spending months learning traits, but this is a multiplayer game and ZOS needs to keep that idea right at the top of Rich's white board. One Tamriel might be a benefit for multiplayer grouping, but other parts of multiplayer take it on the chin. Let's not remove more multiplayer from crafting and the economy under the guise of rewarding crafting.

To that end, I suggest a simple "I crafted this bonus" on the armor when you wear your own armor. Not a lot. 1-5% maybe? (Edit: don't want to make it so much that people feel obligated to craft armor when they don't want to do that)
