World boss difficulty? Come on.

I believe they should nerf all of them. Everyone doing dolmens but ignore worldbosses. A new dolmen reappears and a whole swarm of people comes up instantly. Asking for help for a worldboss I just get silence. After 30-40 minutes someone shows up but still we get wiped several times that they quit (and no, is not my build or playstyle)

Some elite type players complained about difficulty being too easy as they still will.
Other players play for fun more casually.
Needs to be a balance between the two a difficulty setting would be the solution but won't happen.

There's nothing not casual about some of the harder world bosses. Throwing more bodies at it doesn't automatically mean it's "hard".

God forbid you need more than 2 people to do something in an MMO.

No way. The world bosses are the best they've been since PC launch. If you're not up to the challenge there is plenty of easier content out there, but don't ruin the fun for players who like it.

I guess it's time to play Mafia III until the next difficulty balance patch comes out. Unfortunately, I'm generally alone when playing. Now, I'm going to have to hope their are others around to help take down world bosses People don't understand how dead silver and gold zones are. It's not like there are dozens of players all over the place just loving the crap out of the overland content. They will never enjoy the player base they had at release on PC again. Their are simply other MMOs out there that do this stuff better and I want this game to be successful. And I agree with wanting a challenge. But challenge does not mean stupidly impossible or difficult. It generally means a 10% to 15% difficulty bump. People like to feel like their characters can actually do damage and take something down no matter what level they are.

With One Tamriel there will no longer be silver and gold zones.

    BINGO!

So I insulted myself by calling myself a casual player? I was stating points of forums posts and comments from people that think the game is too casual and the say QQ, and others saying its too hard and QQ.

ESO and MMO's in general are never able to completely please every single player base, saying the game sucks because something in it YOU do not like gets old.

I am not accusing people of being against group content either. I am not confusing "hard with "challenging" There is a difference between 50 million HP tank and spank bore fest and a 5 million health fight full of mechanics and such.

But its OK your random game of Bingo still fails.

Alright Zenimax, jesus christ what's wrong with your world boss difficulty? I did Stonefalls, two of the bosses (the netch and the dreugr) I soloed without too much difficulty, the third one, the Golden Saint at Shivering Shrine, we were 3 max CP level players, and yet she killed us all 4-5 times before going down. Her flame whip pretty much instakilling anyone despite blocking, having full health on and a shield etc.

The difficulty on these seem hugely different. Is there a reason why some of them can be soloed quite easily, and one takes 3-4 maxed people to go down, and even then you die? Would be nice if they were at least around the same difficulty.

You piqued my curiosity so I went and tried it.

You exaggerated a bit. I am a healer Templar with a restoration staff and she did not instant kill me - not even when I failed to block and I am a stage 4 vampire with only 260 CP. It hurt. No doubt. But it was not instant death. So a good tank should be able to manage it fairly well I would think considering I was able to stay alive against it.

Would I recommend soloing it? No. Probably not worth the effort. Luckily while I was fighting her another player showed up and took down her health for me. The drops weren't bad. Got a Shield of the Sun or something like that.

    It's definitely a difficult enemy. But I don't think she's over-the-top.

Too bad this update brought with it such ungodly lag, else I would really be enjoying this new update. It's refreshing to have enemies that actually incentivize players to group up and work together.

You can also add Craglorn to my list of complaints here.

3.5M health bosses on the world map (not talking about the events/skull marked bosses). Several 1 shotting bosses, like the arena at the swordfighter school, where you even get 3 of them at once. Craglorn revamped for a 2 people group my a$$. We were 4 high CP people to even get through the Way of the Arena part of the swordfigher school daily. Had we been 2 we wouldn't have stood a chance.

Based on when I went through there (again, admittedly on PTS), it's still doable with two if you block or interrupt some of the telegraphed attacks.

I have enjoyed the new bosses and have solo'd many of them on one of my tanks with sustain and persistence and having to learn the mechanics. I've also watched low level players try to help and get instantly wrecked.

We might want to categorize this into "aspirational content" for many new players instead of something you tick off to complete the map.

I don't mind the new difficulty but some of the mechanics need to be adjusted.

Like the Golden Auroch wb in stonefalls. I can handle her and the adds pretty well until she uses talons which seems to have a massive AOE compared to player's version. I always get snared from this even though I was pretty sure (judging from my own talons aoe) that I was well in the clear.

Also, I've never liked how some of the bosses can telegraph their melee attacks. It's just silly that I'm basically getting hit from a sound (the crab in stonefalls for instance) no matter how far I am away from it, I get.

Craglorn is a patchwork of mystery. I did a buffet of other content, but I did not see any evidence for an adaptive mechanic.

I think there's however a limit for bosses to drop loot. Only the N players who do the most damage to the boss get any loot, but the loot table is the same for all, with separately generated loot for each player though so you can't "ninja" some items from the other players. So beating the boss solo, or in a group of M<=N players would result in the same loot chances for all M. But if there are N players in the group and N+1 and N+2 players come along, or simply don't do enough damage, they will receive nothing. That's the case with bosses in IC, including Molag Bal.

This only contributes to dd everywhere thing.

World bosses should be hard to do soloable, easy with a second player, pushover with the third. This scaling is rediculous long and boring and it isn't even difficult its just annoying with cheap deaths.

I've got to bring this back because I'm so fed up with the world bosses which are randomly too hard. Some are doable, and then some are just gimmicky with cheap shots. It was better the old way, because at least that made it possible for people who solo, or play in a group of 2-3 max (which is 85-90~ per cent of the PvE population). It'll only be 10-15~ per cent of the population who'll be happy with this, the H4RDC0R3. Those people. Yes. Those people.

The thing is? You're going to alienate new people who'll join your game and get sick of this stuff. The forced grouping, the cheap world bosses? That's going to get old, really quick, and you won't have a sustainable playerbase. You'll be in the same place as every other niche MMO that's ended up on life support for exactly the same reasons.

Wildstar? Life support. Champions Online? Life support. Star Wars: The Old Republic? Life support.I think Guild Wars 2 and ESO are the only holdouts right now. Though the populations of neither could be described as especially healthy or sustainable.

If you want to have a sustainable population, you need to keep the people who play for fun, not for grinding. Those are the people who provide the cash store money and subscriptions. They play a lot of alts, they play through existing content a lot, they roleplay. It's not like PvP players who'll get bored and leave the game when a better PvP option turns up. It's not like the H4RDC0R3 who'll quit the game until the next content drops, only to rush through it and leave, then whine about the lack of/easiness of content on the forums.

This world boss scenario is just going to alienate people. And I just feel so much frustration at ZOS that they don't seem to know how to hold a sustainable, profitable userbase. And I keep thinking that the reason why is due to key people in ZOS being so outdated, so from the Everquest period of MMO gaming, that they just can't keep up.

And that's hurting the game, right now. It's hurting the game a lot.

I agree. People will leave the game in droves because there are 4-6 mobs on a map that are difficult to kill. Even though they are marked and easily avoided.
