If there's money involved, be it fake or real, you know what to expect.I'm curious now after reading about all of the pain and sacrifice trade guild owners go through... How much cut from guild profits doo they get? And if so much profit is being made, why do guild members have to donate to get the funds for the trader?
Seems pretty shady to me.
I only recently got into trading. After reading this thread, I feel I may have made a mistake.

I can only speak for myself and other GMs I know. Nothing, we take nothing for ourselves. Not one copper.
The 3,5% taxes aren't enough for medium sized guilds to make profit or even get a decent trader. That's why it is necessary to ask for some donations. Yeah, it's hard work, getting up 4am every tuesday, advertising, managing guild ranks and stuff. Trust me, I didn't ask for it

Just a simple example.
I am in three of what I would call larger Craglorn trade guilds on PC/EU and here are some numbers from last week:
Guild 1 had about 108m Gold in sales which results in a tax of approx. 3.8m.
Guild 2 had about 57m Gold in sales which results in a tax of approx. 2m.
Guild 3 had about 50m Gold in sales which results in a tax of approx. 1.8m.
So on PC/EU a bid for a Craglorn trader easily costs 5+ milion per week on average, not taking "war" bids into account that are placed every now and then to outbid opposing guilds.
Can one of those guys yelling "Look at how rich you became because you are leading a trade guild!" please explain to me how a guild leader would get rich by this?
It is a matter of fact that mosts guilds on PC/EU wouldn't even be able to survice without donations from their members and huge financial support by their leaders.
Yes, many trade guild GMs are rich, but that's because they are usually also good traders and not because they are sitting there withdrawing money from the guild deposit...

I'm not accusing anybody. But the potential for abuse exists and human nature is what it is.

It could be that they are great traders. I hope that's the case. Or the explanation that you call for could be that raffles, donations, etc. are unaccountable.
