I was looking for a crafter to craft me a 9 trait set and he asked me what I thought was a fair price, so I said 5K, plus whatever materials I had leftover. (I have 1500 rubedite). and he responds with, "no thanks, it cost me a lot of gold to get 9 traits." which I get because I have 8 traits on everything myself, all but 1 piece nirn. but should I wait and try to find a friendly crafter who will do it for 5K or is this type of thing the norm?

I wish we had a system where someone could put in a request to the writ boards or something and a crafter could pick up the request and fulfill it. Once they fulfill it they can claim whatever gold the customer put as payment. Customer could also supply or not supply mats as they see fit.
I hate deciding prices on crafting and there is always some hassle involved in setting this up with another person. I've been a nine trait crafter for a long time but I don't make any money off it because I don't want to argue with people about prices, styles mats etc...

no it wasn't armor master. and I never said I wouldn't pay, I was just wondering if it was common practice bc normally I craft my own.

This is a good idea but with one adjustment. They should say what they are willing to pay for the service, and if it is accepted by someone then you have a contract. Otherwise if it is made then the buyer pays what they feel like, it will get abused.

But as long as you provide materials(that includes nirn..), I usually don't charge anything. Sure, if people want to send me some gold as a thank you - I appreciate that. But it's never something I'll force people to do
