Why this high boost concerns only weapons but doesn't the armors? I can't understand the logic in boosting only weapons, when it's the same 8 pcs. gold mats needed to improve every part of the armor and stats are increased just a bit.Because it is Gold, not the green, blue or epic. Golden weapon seriously boost your damage. It should be very rare. And it was a mistake on the game release, when it not so rare was.

Sadly getting goldmats seems to be balance around multiple chars per account doing writs and getting hireling mats.
From my experience you need ~4 chars to selfsustain with hirelings + writs every day. Everything on top is luxury to sell or test.

@Derra
What you are saying has to do with increasing the volume. With running writs on 4 characters I was able to keep 5 characters in gold armor and keep golding out new sets as I changed.
So, in other words, doing writs on one character would have been sufficient for keeping one character's gear gold.
Works great.

Just sell the stack of unrefined and buy the gold tempers.

Well i guess it´s possible if you have an exact plan of what sets you want to use and have them available in correct traits right away.
However if you want to test things or adapt to meta changes it can become a lot more expensive to even keep one character updated in my experience. Maybe i´m just too wasteful.
The problem i see is not about the gold mats but about the gear system. With other mmo games, lotta times you need to do hard content like an epic trial to get epic gear, which is already great piece for doing all content, then you may upgrade it to make it a bit more powerful so with the upgrade doing hard content is only a bit easier than non upgraded epic piece (or in p2w case make it super though unnecessarily powerful, and usually only obvious in pvp). Yet in ESO its fairly easy to get good sets, you dont need to do HM trials for VO or IA, and which dont blow some other sets like julianos or hundings you can craft or obtain by lightyears. But then the difference is huge between gold and purple weapons and HA.
So my point is, ESO makes gold gear op but the sets themselves dont have miles of difference except maybe vma dw, but other games have the sets themselves, upgraded to gold or not, op and enough to do all content comfortably, while the upgrade only makes them a bit better.
I dont agree that gold quality should improve gear that much more than purple, cuz its just one more tier. But, i think it should be that better sets can only be obtained by harder content, and these sets/weapons are powerful enough as purple quality and can do all content with ease.
