Female argonian boobs?

One could argue that Argonians are a step stone in the development of reptiles to mammals.

In our world the early mammals developed from reptiles. That was before the dinosaurs ruled the world.
The way a fetus in an egg is sustained is eerily similar to how mammal fetus' grow within the womb. There is even an organelle that is functionally identical to a placenta within every egg.
Scientists theorize that at some point some reptiles started to carry their eggs instead of laying them, because they could protect their offspring better this way. This strategy lead to increased survival rates of the own offspring compared to those who got their eggs poached by predators.
What the developement of mammary glands prompted is the increased need for prolonged infant care after the amount of offspring got significantly reduced after the eggs got carried out rather than layed.
These are two of the three important advantages that mammals developed compared to reptiles, the third being skin.

Funny, I remember playing Morrowind (long time ago) with "better bodies" mod that was replacing body models as the OG ones were kinda bad. During the installation, there was an option to have female argoninas to have "breastless" chest... and tbh it was way more immersive.

First, Argonians aren't actually lizards. They're sort of a mash of lizard amphibian and mammal. Also, the Hist controls much of an Argonian's life, and can fine-tune things like appearances. I remember reading somewhere, don't remember where, that it's possible the Hist modeled female Argos on those of other races in order to be more aesthetically pleasing to the eye of Man and Mer races. To seem a little less alien, that is.

Also, the Hist is one of the oldest life forms in the TES franchise. It literally hops between kalpas to avoid being destroyed, which is why another person mentioned Argonians actually being one of the oldest/first races. Something that powerful can easily make Argonians function however it wants.

I also recall reading somewhere that Argos, tho they lay eggs, nurse their offspring. Just because something hatches from an egg doesn't mean it has to be something that isn't nursed. The mouth shape of an Argonian would be really awkward for breastfeeding tho, unless newborn and baby Argonians have a more human-shaped mouth than adults do.

And it also makes sense as all other females has breasts.
Add that breast feeding is an good idea as a design, more so if having slowly growing kids
