You also get AP doing the quests in the towns in Cyrodiil - Like Vlastrus/Cropsford etc - not on every quest though. I saw one of my level 20 alts get 400+ AP in addition to the EXP Points.

But Grouping and staying with the group is by far the best way to get AP. Staying with the group is important.

Scan and visit each Keep your alliance owns gives opportunities to gain AP by repairing keeps when they upgrade - I know of a few characters who only gain AP this way. Sometimes 6000+ AP if you can monitor the keep and are the sole repairer in that keep.

The PvP Skill line is way too easy now - used to be very hard to make your way up through the levels, so you had a sense of achievement when you did finally get Vigor or Caltropes.

That 400ap may have been a defense tick, as you certainly do not get AP for completing quests in towns.

You get AP from a town quest

    Same old song.
You PvP to get Pvp Skills and PvE to get PvE skills, imagine that.
Whole point of the game other than having fun.
Or should everything just be bought in crown store?

Well half of the annoyance with pvp is actually caring about the campaigns outcome. You will get AP regardless of how terrible you are at it, just by playing. The real benefit to your situation is that in the end your not mentally or emotionally invested in the campaign. You literally can just have fun and die alot.

Wasn't in any keep or near a keep was in Cropsford - I will check later, by trying to replicate it.

I started pvp on a new character a few days ago and I'm 40k AP away from Sergeant. Within a few hours I had unlocked most of the useful alliance war skills just by running around in Trueflame. It's stupidly easy to get your Assault/Support to rank 10 these days. Currently on Undaunted rank 2 and I want to kill myself

It's 1 passive at the end of the Undaunted skill line called "Undaunted Mettle", because everything else in there is basically useless

I gotta agree that you can just advise someone to 'go out and kill ppl'.

I joined the game and wanted (and do) PVP - but when the majority of other PVPers are already experienced and geared, it's a steep, steep learning curve. I've now climbed most of that curve, but a friend of mine is now really struggling to get used to it (and its worse for him, cos he waited till 50, where I was straight in at 10 in BWB).

Unfortunately if you really want those abilities - you have to be reasonably successful at PVP - same way If I want undaunted stuff, I have to be reasonably successful at group PVE.

The same way that you may not want to do PVP, don't enjoy it and don't want to spend the time to learn to do well at it - I don't want to do dungeons, don't enjoy em and don't want to spend the time to learn them. (and its actually worse in the next patch with so many nice BOP sets now coming only from grp dungeons).

But if you do want to persevere, the easiest way as already mentioned is to spam lfg in zone chat, join a grp, follow the crown and try to stay in the middle of ppl, using ranged abilities - and also buy/use siege. You will die - don't be upset - everybody dies in cyrodil - a lot. You will get ganked - and more than others, simply because experienced PVPers can generally see from the map/flow of battle/past experience where gankers are likely to be and be ready for them (or avoid them).

But once you get rolling, you will earn AP (or probably more likely your group will earn it for you) - but as long as you can contribute - its all good.

Or if its late (just after peak time) - there may be an awful lot of damaged wall you could repair.

they have already greatly reduced the AP needed to level up the Alliance skill lines. It took me 3 hours to get vigor on my newest character. You just need to find a more active server.
Thankfully the dueling should be reduced after the update since they will be able to do that anywhere and will not have to take up space in Cyrodil just to stand at the Allesia bridge all day like they do now.

the skills are ridiculously easy to get right now compared to before.

    @JungleBoot

I had no problem leveling up my AvA lines this past weekend to get what I wanted. It takes little time and effort. If you are not finding the right action try grouping with a friend in a different campaign and go play with him/her a bit.
    Really, idk

How am I to know which server to join? Switching is expensive -- AP wise. I'm not trying to be difficult. I'm willing to work at it. But, you have to "set" a home campaign and guest campaign. There is no -- try it and see if you like it option.

You get one home and one guest campaign, and you can choose to change either of these with no AP cost when current campaign ends (for BWB this is every 7 days). Even without home or guest, you can enter any campaign with the help of someone on your faction who groups with you and does a group queue for that campaign.

Blackwater blade and Azura's star have lower population compared to the campaigns that allow champion points.

Just went into Cyrodiil with a level 10 alt
visited Cheydinhal and did two quests

    Sylvian Gerius [Bloodied Waters]

    Vyctoris Girien [Spice]

and received 1,005 quest exp for each and an additional 252 alliance points
[Edit] The lower 252 is probably because I used a level 10 character.

So yes, you do get AP doing the quests...
