How long will it take for my bounty to go down? It's extremely high...

16,895 gold. I can't pay that lol. How long will it take for it to die? To add, I'm a huge PvPer, which is a reason why I'm always broke and resorted to theft. So perhaps it'll decrease while I'm in Cyrodiil?

Give it a couple of days. At least it was the 4 million that someone racked up on PS4. My suggestion, go play another character for a while. It will go down while you are busy doing that.

Yeah, that shouldn't take more than a few days to go down. Until then stay in Cyrodiil on that character, or just avoid towns in the rest of Tamriel. Of course, if you do Thieves Guild stuff you'll soon be swimming in pardons and edicts that you can use to reduce your bounty, and at the end of the questline you get a pardon that will wipe out up to 100K of a bounty.

If you're that huge if a PVPer sell a PVP reward, or spend 100k AP on an Akaviri motif and sell that.

Side note, I've noticed on console lately that the game has now been out long enough that the regular player has bypassed the hardcore PVPer because the regular player spent time building up a bankroll. The amount of ESO poor 531s looking for handouts has never been greater. Not that you are. Just noticing it more and more.

Depends on the level, if such bounty is in the head of Level 1 character, that might take years to go off

Did you already complete the Thieves Guild questline? There is a light at the end of the tunnel that would take care of your problem. One specific paper gem, as long as you don't go over 100K bounty...

That said, completing it while having to avoid all guards would be a tad more challenging but not impossible at all.

Bounties also move away more quickly if you've invested in the thieves guild skill line.

Do some thieveguild board missions. They give those pardon which decrease from 500-1000 bounty.

Currently I have 20k bounty and I don't have that either. Sadly guild traders won't talk to me :(

    Edit: I typed 200k but ment 20k

Bounty, with maxed out passives, decreases at a rate of roughly 10k a day (24 hours). It'll go away soon enough.

There's a player on PC EU with over 33 MILLIONS in bounty though

Go to Coldharbour aswell, no justice there either. But better to wait till One Tamriel comes because it'll be worthwhile to be there.

But by then your bounty will be long gone unless you rack it up more. :)

There are some area's with lots of NPC's. It is indeed faster to kill them and loot the bodies then pickpocket them one by one. It does increase the bounty very quick (like 900-1000 gold per kill and there is at least 10-15 NPC's at a few locations.)

put simply YES your bounty will decrease while in cyrodil

you will not be attacked byt guards in coldharbour either (because there arent any)

so if you need access to bank for trader there is your best bet.

the stuff you stole to launder to make money were you able to sell it? note that EVERY outlaw refuge has 2 entries, some are much easier to access when you have a bounty than others, try sentinel (alikr desert)

Someone in one of my guilds wanted to get thousands of gold as fast as possible. He found a youtube video that said the best way to do that was kill npcs and take their stuff. His plan was to get gold to buy ambrosia so he could grind levels super fast. He racked up over 200k bounty before he came to the guild chat and asked "This isn't a good thing, right?"

He also didn't want to make a new character, since that would slow down his insane rush to the ultimate level. Why he wanted to get to 500whatever cp points, no one could quite figure out. He was asking for training trait gear at cp160...Anyway...

One very patient guildmember took the time to show him how to get the bounty down.

Or fast travel to hew's bane wayshrines outside from the city go into the thieves guild from the waterway entrance outside of town sell your hot merchandise and drop dead. Seriously, let yourself be killed by a guard. Repair costs will be much lower than the bounty, around 50 gold or less and you don't have to wait days for the bounty to drop!

As a huge PvPer you should be doing well. Many items bought with AP and especially Talvar sell very well. A strong PvP player csn take in 250k AP fast.

Also, be more careful when stealing. Less bounty accumulated.

16k will take about 2 days. So just hang out in Cyrodiil or Coldharbour in the meantime. :-)

I did that when I got the Serial Killer achievement on a couple of my toons. I'd go kill a bunch of people in Craglorn, rack up a 16k bounty and then park the toon in the Outlaw Refuge for a few days while I played another character.

As has been said, there is no justice in Cyrodil, and the guards still forget you at the usual rate. Oh, there also is no justice in coldharbour either, so that too is a good place to sit and wait out your bounty, if less profitable...

As I recall, bounty also decays offline, so... you can always go alting when your main finds the guard too hot on their trail.

And 17K bounty is nothing compared to the really bad boys and girls of tamriel. Nothing, I say. Now, my characters all are too smart to get caught (even my worst), but I keep hearing things about people who racked up bounties in the millions...

    Outlaw Prison
    • By choosing the "Go to Court" option in the "pay bounty" dialogue instead of paying or fleeing, Outlaws are now transferred to an instance called Court, where Outlaws are presented with three options: Withdraw Funds from Bank, Go to Prison, where players get transferred to another, group instance, or an one-time option to fight for freedom in the Arena*. Winning a duel will clear that player's bounty without the gold penalty and transfer him/her out of Prison. Losing has no additional penalty.
    • Outlaws are automatically grouped upon entering, without the ability to leave group or disband.
    • Outlaws lose all their stolen items when going to prison. All lockpicks and pardon Edicts get marked as Stolen and are stored along with other stolen items into a random container inside the Prison which cannot be looted by other players.
    • A "Spare Guard Uniform" disguise can be found in one random container inside Prison, that can be worn as a tabard. Wearing it enables the player to be unnoticed by Guards or Enforcers. Finding it unlocks an achievement that grants the Guard costume (vanity only).
    • When the heat and bounty of an Outlaw wears off, a portal is spawned inside the cell that takes the player out of Prison. The portal is not visible to and interactable by other players.
    • The Prison dungeon has 6 cells and can host up to 6 Outlaw players, and up to 6 Enforcers that can port to the instance if it goes to high alert.
    • Inside each cell there is exactly 1 stolen lockpick that can be found to pick the cell lock with. Taking the lockpick starts the shareable "Prison Break" quest. Players that open their cell doors may also go and pick the doors of other locked players, but cannot enter cells other than their own.
    • The area outside the cell room is marked as Trespassing to Outlaws, marking them constantly as Wanted. This is the only Trespassing area Enforcers are able to visit, and Trespassing does not apply to them.
    • Getting seen by a Guard or Enforcer while inside the Prison automatically locks your cell door permanently.
    • Players that are killed by a Guard or Enforcer inside the Prison, and do not have enough gold to cover the bounty, are then transferred to their permanently locked cell. Otherwise, they get transferred out of Prison.
    • Leaving the room with the cells automatically starts a visible dungeon timer that is shared among all Outlaws that leave the cell room. Getting noticed outside the cell room by a guard subtracts 1 minute from the timer. After the time expires, the instance goes to High Alert and On-Duty Enforcers get a queue notification to enter that instance.
    • The first part of the instance is crawling with guards, some of which have Clairvoyance. The second part of the dungeon is purely PvE, and has no NPC Guards. Once inside the second part of Prison, it is impossible to return to the first part of the Prison.
    • To get to the exit, Outlaws have to beat a few mini bosses and a Final boss in the second, PvE part of the prison. Monsters are also aggressive to Enforcers. The Final Boss is stationary, and clairvoyant. The Minibosses cannot be reset once aggroed, and will follow any players still alive until killed.
    • Players may only be resurrected by other Outlaws while a Miniboss or Boss fight is ongoing, and there in no "wayshrine respawn point" if the group wipes.
    * - this is true provided Dueling Arenas are implemented at the same time or before implementing PvP Justice.
