I've just started playing ESO and I've found it quite more difficult on the new system, the tutorial was about the same but after that where it starts to get harder with level 1 items soul-shriven armours without any stats- is that intended or an oversight ?

    Is that on PTS?
Sarcasm is something too serious to be taken lightly

I was born with the wrong sign
    In the wrong house
    With the wrong ascendancy
    I took the wrong road
That led to the wrong tendencies
I was in the wrong place at the wrong time
For the wrong reason and the wrong rhyme
On the wrong day of the wrong week
Used the wrong method with the wrong technique

There are all kinds of containers in the Coalharbour tutorial that have weapons and armor as well as looting them from killed mobs there. I even had a blue 2HD hammer drop for me there - something I have never seen before. There is no reason to leave there at anything other than level 4 with most of your stuff not being the soul-shriven stuff you start with. You'l also loot a lot of lockpicks there that will come in handy in your next area.

As soon as you get to the starter island you'll start getting a lot of equipment from chests as well as quest rewards. A lot of these now are part of the "Trainee" set that gives your magicka, stamina and health a boost. Also a lot of it is green or better that come with enchantments and traits that boost your character.

Part of the trick of starting out is also choosing and using the right skills. Those skills are what you should be relying on for most of your damage dealing, protection and healing. Using just basic attacks will make you struggle and you'll die a lot.

I'm an experienced player so when I started a new character I already had a good idea what skills to get and how to use them so I found it all relatively the same although the fights do take slightly longer than they currently do on live - a good thing, IMO.

But as far as weapons, armor and jewelry go, I found gearing up with good stuff on the PTS much, much easier than on live. Just quest and look for chests.

I have no idea why you would be all in soul-shriven junk gear unless you skipped the tutorial but you said you didn't... I'm confused.
