cyrodill for pve'rs?

What happens when you drop into cyrodill?

If im a low level pve'r and wanted to go farm some mats, what happens.

Is it like a free for all and im just going to get whacked by the first person I see?
Is there 'safe areas'?
am I automatically in pvp mode if im in cyro?

No safe areas , yes you will get whacked and as for mats better farming them outside of cyrodill

Outside of keeps you can be killed by any player of another alliance.

The starter area is safe. Literally every other place is a free for all. If you're just trying to grind mats you should do so somewhere else.

That said, PVP is a good time. The "main" campaign is usually the 30 day depending on your platform. There are also no champion points campaigns. Lastly some campaigns are balanced while some are dominated. Before you go into one take account of these things.

For farming its much better outside of PVP. If you want sky shards, or to do questing you can but you always run the risk of being killed. That said, I got most the sky shards with very few deaths. And if you are questing sometimes there is an ass camping the quest and sometimes there is not it just depends on the day.

I did all the PvE content (including fishing). If I really didn't want to get jumped, I would go on off hours when there were few people on my server.

It is a very large place. Largest map in the game by far. If you stay away from the combat areas shown on the map and routes to and from them, you will be less likely to run into combatants. No everyone attacks on sight when it is clear somebody it just grabbing shards or doing delves, but you can be anywhere outside of the starting area. It is a fun place, give it a try. And don't worry, everyone gets pummeled their first time.

Choose a campaign that is less populated or where your alliance is dominating and you should be fine

    1) You're open to be killed by any player of one of the two opposing factions.

    2) There are no "safe areas" to farm mats.

    3) You're automatically in PVP mode when in Cyrodiil.

That said, there are plenty of out of the way places you can go to farm mats, as well as delves you can grind for EXP. Yes, you run the risk of being ganked, but if you run around in areas that are solidly owned by your faction, the chances are much lower. Staying away from Keeps and Resources will help you avoid this. Running with a group will also really help.

That said, you may find you actually really enjoy PVP. I know that I did. Just make sure to outfit yourself in at least 5 pieces of armor with the Impenetrable trait. You'll stay alive MUCH longer if you do. Also make sure that you always have your stat food running, as you'll want as much health as possible. You will be battle leveled, so that will help, but running into people with a ton of CP will still be very dangerous. Learn to hide whenever you go AFK, need to eat more food, read your map, etc. Being visible while AFK or just not paying attention as you attend to other stuff on your character is a sure way to get ganked.

Good luck and have fun, and don't let the big bad Cyrodiil scare you too much.

If you don't have any DLC and wanna farm materials I suggest you join a campaign where your faction dominates Cyrodiil. This promises fast traveling to almost anywhere in the continent. Stick to open fields, avoid cities and delves unless you wanna get ganked.

This does not guarantee you won't get ganked by sweaties. But it lessens the chances of it happening. Bottom line nowhere in Cyrodiil is safe.

All of the above is true, but it is more pertinent information for you is that nodes in Cyrodiil are far, far, far more sparse than in any other zone. Even if there were no other players (and there's very, very few mobs) it'd take you far, far longer to farm anything in Cyrodiil. It is, nevertheless, a really fun place to explore.

Unless you encounter the wandering orangish dog. That dog pisses me off.

There should be a safe way imo, like the opposite of dueling, say if you offered the other player a cup of tea they could accept it and not be able to attack you..

Depends when you go on, and how your faction is doing. Off peak and all the keeps owned by your alliance, no problem.

On peak and map flipped you may die outside your spawn gates.

I explorer most of Cyro as a pve,er and didn't find it too bad if I was sensible.

But DLCs have more mat nodes i think

Even in areas of Cyrodiil not frequented by the main PVP population, you're still in significant danger of being attacked.

The delves and land around the forts that your alliance holds are generally safe, and get only safer as you move deeper into your own territory. That being said, the closer you get to enemy territory, the more unsafe they get.

Delves generally consist of three types of people:
    1. Inexperienced, new players who attack everyone on sight. They're easy to kill, and you just need to be careful about finding them.
    2. People who are there to grab skyshards and achievements; they won't attack you, so don't attack first, and often times they too are PVEers, so they understand
    3. Grinders and gankers. They are much more likely to be dangerous and attack on sight, so be careful about the delves.

Note that you generally only find grinders and gankers in a few select delves, which are considered good for grinding.

In most of the other delves, and in cities, people are usually PVEers and new players who are either afraid of you, or will leave you alone.

Just keep your eyes open in Cyrodiil; the delves are full of ambush points, and I don't know what is more stressful, vMA, or exploring the delves of Cyrodiil.

For what it's worth, people seem to have an agreement when it comes to dungeons.. If you keep off the aoe attacks, players can usually do them alongside each other..

Just go, accept as a basic premise that each time you will only bank 50% of the stones you collect, and have a good time exploring.

Note that if you don't PvP and therefore don't have any imperial retreat stones, you can always queue for your other PvP server and it will port you to the starting area of that server. You get to keep all your stones at the cost of having to switch between servers and make the ride back to IC.

No, there shouldn't. Safe mode in PVP sounds all well and good but it gets exploited in every game it's ever been implemented. Besides, there is a population cap and every space you're taking up farming is one not being used by a PVPer in PVP land.

Would be pretty hard to exploit if the other player had to accept before it activated.. Personally though, I feel a fast horse works better though.. I have yet to be killed in Cyrodill when I do my PvE stuff

That is a very valid point and I didn't intend for this to turn into a pve'rs wanting safe passage in pvp land.

Cyrodiil isn't exactly a good area to farm matts. There isn't an area deans with matts.

However, I've brought groups into cyrodiil to farm sky'shards and dungeons and go long periods without seeing anyone.

All we need is an emote 'offer flower' or 'offer cup of tea' or 'do the peace sign' but I don't think ZOS would want to encourage hippy peace and love in Cyrodiil lol

I guess the people who would accept safe mode are not the ones who will attack you anyway, they just need to know that you wont attack them either, and that just boils down to trust.

Well as a PvE'er in there, just don't attack people.. If they see that you ignore them and then attack you anyway, they are not the type of people that would accept a peace offer either.. some people will kill you no matter what for some reason
