Sadly, they fall behind when it comes to dps in competitive content. They suffer from having a few amount of dots which decreases time on target. I pvp however they can be very effective.

Who told you that? From what I see magblades belong to the most important builds in a raid apart from tanks, healers and maybe mag dks.

Magblade are still strong dps in raid, and having some of them allow the group to take less heal than an normal group. They hit hard, have good survivability, heal the group, have great utilities and nearly no sustain problem.
Stamina classes hit really hard now, but magblade aren't trash, they are far from it.

If you're looking to a "bad" raid class, check magsorc. They aren't bad, but they're still the worst. Less dps, less utilities.

How are they irrelevant. As far as magika goes they do well. They also provide a fabulous buff to help stam builds and provide the opportunity for range damage.

This is a decent build I've been playing with. http://tamrielfoundry.com/topic/noss-unoriginal-guide-to-magblade-dps-4-mantrials-tg-ready/

In cyrodil nothing scares me more than a Magicka nightblade with a group. They jump in from out of nowhere sap a good chunk of your health while their buddies pick your group off. If your group is able to counter the assault the nightblade fears you and has the option to proceed attacking or fall back.

Magica NBs are very, very strong. I LOVE it whenever they are in vet dungeons and Trials groups because they provide an unmatched amount of utility to the group in addition to dealing great DPS and being entirely self-sustaining.

Don't worry. They cycle will continue with nerf this buff that. Magika had its day and not it's stams turn but they'll balance it again. I'm sure the lack of Sorc play isn't sitting well with Zos and I'd bet they are already trying to figure out how to make them relevant again.

That's what he meant, magNB being gimped in perception because Stam builds are awesome now across the board.

It is really why i run mine.I have no idea how it compares end game, but for 90% of the dungeons in the game i can be all, 'I dont care what you chuckleheads are doing im going through this dungeons!'

If all you care about is comparing DPS parses, a magblade isn't going to compare well to a stamblade (or any stam build).

Yet magblades are the best for solo play (e.g., vMA). Why?
    • Ranged DPS. You pretty much have to be melee if you're stam.
    • Excellent self-healing.
    • Excellent mobility.

They don't hit as hard, but they have better utility. They're different. And that's good--we don't really want everyone to be the same.

Almost all decent stam builds are melee. NB can go ranged and have everything except minor force and do well. There should be reduced dps when able to go ranged.

The more DoTs you have the more passive damage you have AKA the more time you have to DPS AKA more DPS...

The sneak attack damage multiplier + stun for stamina attacks from stealth is a huge factor in the difference in burst. It would be nice if a melee attack like concealed weapon got that as well. Being classified as a spell sucks.

I don't really use my magic nb anymore. Can't seem too get his spell damage past 2200 which seems really low too me. Considering my Stan nb hits alot harder with physical at around 3600. Plus his abilitys. Magic nb seems my strongest ability is soul siphon believe which crits around 8k I think.

You have a severe misunderstanding of how DPS works in this game. More DOTS does not mean more DPS.

Everyone keeps telling me certain builds are irrelevant. I tell them that when they pay my sub or refund my purchase price, they can tell me what and how to build.

If it has relevance to you and you can figure out a way to make it work, dont worry about what others say. If it works, it works and doesnt matter how it's built. If it does what you want it to, it's perfectly relevant. Listening to other people ends when they say it has to be a certain way. Then it becomes, pay me and I'll play it that way for you.

I love playing my magblade in pvp. Most of the time I don't even use impen gear, I just rely on a variety of buffs (most of which are available to the class inherently) and the ability to track my opponent. I think what separates the okay magblades from the great ones in pvp, at least in part, is knowing the build well enough so as not to spend any time thinking about what ones own tactics, and focusing more on what the opponent's tactics are.
