Inspect Player

You know, if we could inspect players and see their gear and stats - including run speed, ult regen etc.. it might help a lot.

You could, you know, just ask someone about their build.

You could, but this isn't a bad idea either.

Pros , could see what your fighting against . Would help with upcoming duels

Cons , people might have secret gear sets they don't want to share . Could lead to even more fotm builds .

I hate to be kicked by a jerk who think that my gear is not good enough to THEIR standards. I love the fact that we do NOT have inspect on other people chars -- that just leaves to more and more elitism and trolling.

Best way to ensure something gets fixed is to have everyone doing it.
Best way to ensure things stay broken is if a small number of people (or sometimes just one person) keeps a broken mechanic all to themselves. Case-in-point: we only discovered people were exploiting multiple mundus stones because an addon allowed us to actually "inspect" their active buffs.

    Sunlight is the best disinfectant.

Really we do it without like, the musical instruments. This is the only musical: the mouth. And hopefully the brain attached to the mouth. Right? The brain, more important than the mouth, is the brain. The brain is much more important.

I'd like it just to appease my curiosity when I see someone in gear I don't know. I don't want it because elitist pricks are elitist pricks.

I am happy without having elitism tools like inspect if that means I do have to deal with as much elitism and trolling if we had the tools.

Agreed. We already have to deal with cp and achievement checks for simple stuff. While it would be a fun thing to have it would be far too easily abused.

i dont think it matters if it is implemented it or not, if your that concerned while running pledges its easy to ask, i do however think it would be cool to be able to invite people to look at a character sheet, that shows a pic of your toon, stats, your armor, skills, and a list of chosen achievements, this would help so much when i do pugs and people ask what i do, what i wear etc, instead of having to type it all out, i could share it (1 time invite only) this would allow you to not share it as well.

This is a PVP forum, so I was thinking more about PVP. I never considered the PVE "gear score" type impact.

It's more about questioning the legitimacy of combat. For example, I watched a group run around so fast last night in Cyrodil ganking people it made me wonder how. I'd never seen anyone move that quickly. So, I'd like to know if it was a combo of pots/CP/gear/mundus or maybe something is broken; or perhaps even nefarious.

Having that information and knowing what's actually feasible would go a long way.

I don't think the idea has any purpose or place in PVP. In war does one side tell the other which weapons they have for the battle or how many troops they are putting on the ground? PVP is about being stronger and better than the opponent and you do not need them to know things that may help them kill you.

In PVE it would only add to the information people have to assess whether you are up to a standard they want to run with and for that reason I would be against it. Too much elitism there already.

Anyone who wears certain armour and slots certain skills just because other people do are stupid, die fast, and usually deserve to do so  It isn't exactly difficult to have a look at different item sets and use your brain to achieve what you want, even go onto pts and try things out with a friend if you are unsure...

I don't use cookie cutter builds, or fall for all of that FOTM nonsense. I know my class well enough to make it succeed no matter what other people are doing. I certainly don't want random strangers to be able to see my stats, and tbh, I don't really care about seeing theirs either

So much for skill >>> gear/CP. The skills you use can already be seen. That's not really some big secret. The variety of gear for PVP is really limited too. How many decent builds do you think there are?

Someone had a better suggestion in the cheat/exploit thread anyway. Show the player stats at the point when you die. When the data is stored client side giving players the ability to manipulate it, don't you think something should be put into place to detect or reveal it?

The number of times people get called cheaters in PVP is incredible. The problem is, are they really cheating/exploiting? It's almost impossible to determine. More information would be helpful to disprove the claims.

Moot point anyway really. It's not like this would ever be implemented.

Well plus some of the costumes are pretty bad ass such as the Nord hero costume. That is honestly how the Nord armor styles should have looked like to begin with.

Featuring this Inspect Player option wouldn't be a benefit to the game, especially PvP... It would make all copies of each other and won't be fun anymore IMO.
Some builds are shared as you'll find on You Tube.

I do not support player inspection in ESO. In my experience, inspection makes a game community more toxic. I don't give 2 figs what OP or any other random thinks of my build. It works for me, and it works for my guild groups. It's a regular part of conversation with the few people who's opinion I value.

And I don't usually care about anybody else's build either. if neither my pve nor pvp guilds are doing anything, I run with pledge pugs, multiple times a day with different groups. Working with sub-optimal groups has made me a better, more adaptive player. And I'd like to think that I've helped others improve as well. The improvement seldom has anything to do with gear, but skill rotation, positioning, combat awareness, and mechanics. Things they would never get an opportunity to learn if they were kicked because of player inspection. .

They could always make it so when you select the inspect option, it prompts the user (he then can accept or refuse..) but that could get annoying, quickly..

Better, they could make it so you can only inspect people in your faction or in group.

Will not work still. If I refused, auto kicked from a group. No way to beat elitism. Best not to have it to start with.
