Is the Kena set suppose to be balanced or OP?

Wearing 1 item literally gives you the set bonuses that would require three items of another set. Yes, three. It gives both magic and weapon damage, from only one item. I'm trying to wrap my head around why they did this, because I don't want an item that doesn't match my crafting style choice, however this item seems too good to pass up. Explain why this item exists please.

I can tell you why it exists. So that people were forced to buy Imperial City and play the content :)
Which is fine in my opinion.

    Trinimac is my shield,

Kena is OP because it is buggy and they arent able to fix it...
They already said they will fix it last year, but never happens
Its much better than other magicka sets... (10% dps kena, ~5% nerieneth/skoria)

But "we" need it, because stamina has [SNIP] high dps

Fair enough. I'm exclusively building a damage dealing mage, so any buff sounds fine to me. Perhaps the real issue is how limited the choices are.

Every monster set has a 1 piece bonus...

Granted, most are health, but that does essentially mean you can put less health elsewhere. Bloodspawn has regen, velidreth wd etc

They are dungeon rewards. I don't see your issue? You don't want anyone to have it because it doesn't match your armor? For real?

Why do so many people assume someone has an issue when they ask a question. I have no issue. I don't care if the game is balanced. I just wanted to know if it intentionally stronger than other (crafted) sets. Seriously, you forum dwellers create these delusions in your head.

Well, maybe I do have an issue with being forced to use non-crafted sets without being able to change the style to match the rest of my armor. That's just lame.

So you insult me then admit I'm right...

The set is fine. I'm sure zenimax is sorry the shoulder doesn't match your outfit.

Wear it and get stats, or don't and keep your desired appearance. Stop trying to ruin it for other people though. This is the stupidest reason I've ever seen to claim something is OP. Because it doesn't match your armor...

Forget about the second perk for a second...

1 piece gives the same benefits as 2 pieces of Torugs Pact. That's the point. How are you people so dense?

The next answer will be... 'Yea, it's suppose to be better.' FYI, that means there is not a balance. It's just better. You can't have both.

Some of you are saying two things that cannot go together. Either there is balance, or there are OP rewards to incentivize play.

Still not seeing my point? Something is wrong with you.

    the balance is...
    1. it is hard to get monster pc as opposed to crafted in which you can make for any lvl character at any time.
    2. monster pc are only shoulder and helm and must be worn in one of those slots. Compared to crafted sets in which you can use on any armor or weapon pc making it more versatile.
    3. you dont get to pick your trait for monster pc except perhaps at the venodr where if it pops up you choose between two traits. Compared to a crafted set where you get to choose any trait that you wish.

It's a monster helm set meant to be viable to bother magica and stamina classes.

If you make it straight weapon damage which it was when on test you exclude magica users if you amke it magica then you exclude stamina users.

I'm not suire argument that the one live is simple to good holds a lot of water having both weapon and spell damage breaks nothing. I've not seen a build in the year since IC was released that takes the second bonus and makes it OP.

I suppose I could be upset that Malestrom weapons, endurance, and willpower sets give 1.5 times normal bonuses but I'm not.

    Kena is meh.

I can't really remember the last time I had just a single piece of any monster set in a build.

The funniest thing here is no one has mentioned that you can get these shoulders from running silver way rest or elder hollow, which is basically solo content now.

To the OP I believe this monster shoulder out performs any other 1 piece armor set by design, it is 'balanced' in some people's eyes because it doesn't out perform on stamina or magic, it is a good piece for both.

That being said, there has to be a best, or their can not be a worst.

I do not know if they will allow style changing, but I doubt it as these are supposed to be a prestige item, which identifies you as an undaunted champion.
Tl;dr really weigh the fun you have in game vs the business practices you are supporting.

The monster set shoulders and heads look like the boss of the related dungeon. Sometimes it looks like the shoulder/head gear that boss wears. Sometimes it literally looks like the boss' anatomical shoulder and head! Molag Kena set looks like the gear that Molag Kena herself wears. The often bizarre look of each monster set is thus by design and I do not anticipate being able to change it. But who knows? Ability to transform gear to a different style seems like it would fit in with costume dying as a quality-of-life thing that could be added to ESO+ one of these days.

In my opinion the kena 2 piece is obsolete if youre doing trials its ok i guess for pvp or small dungeons but if youre doing any sort of hard content like helra hard mode or aa hard mode fhen kena is trash its not optimal since the cost increase in magick across the board. Stamina cant use it since you have to proc two light attacks which is dumb if ur trying to maximize your rotation on a stam class just to get the extra weapon damage. The set is balanced either magicka kr stam can use it and to compare it to other sets in the name of balance isnt even relevant. its a set for specific plp and it depends on what u wanna do. Just because it gives almost 500 weapon spell damage means nothing. Lets say youre in a fight with alot of adds that extra weapon damage pales in comparison to validreth which is a very painful aoe thats buffed by cp so kena is useless in that situation. Kena is just meh to me it used to be good now its basically useless except for the one piece cayse stam can use 1 piece validreth and 1 piece kena 3 agility and 5 hundings rage to have well over 4k weapon damage unbuffed lmao

1: it's only a small bump in spell/weapon damage for the first piece which many sets give you on the 2nd piece anyway.

2: it only comes in helm or shoulders, which means other dropped sets (Like Litch) can't be combined with it.

3: it's locked behind PVE content that requires you and 3 others to work hard in WGT or luck out in the Undaunted chest to even get it. (OR spend gold/AP when the PVP vender has it)

4: The second piece requires you to double light attack to activate, then all your abilities cost (I think) 35% more to cast, even if the spell damage didn't effect their use fullness.
