Don't understand the hate about RNG boxes...

$15 a month is pretty darn close to free.

The crafting bag alone is worth the 15 bucks. Free DLC's, costume dyes, and crowns are great perks.

I pay a subscription to support this great game. All the goodies that come with it are a bonus.

I'm not arguing it's not good value, I'm just saying it has a value. If you were not a subscriber you can check the store how much those crowns will cost you, and that is part of the subscription fee (not exact value, but I hope you understand). Today you can see exactly what you get for that value, but in the future you can no longer do that since that's reliant on RNG. That is not a good thing for the vast majority.

I sure don't get the panic and tinfoil hats.

Subscribers get monthly crowns, so essentially Crown Crates are free for us. Another perk for subscribring as there should be.

    It's a game you all...
    Not a lifestyle.

Crown Crates are not free for subscribers. You get a set amount of crowns related to how many months you're subscribing for. Difference between how it is today and how it is gonna become is that now you actually know how much those crowns are worth. You can look in the shop and see exactly what you can get for that amount. With these boxes you no longer knows, you can get lucky and as such feel they are worth more, or you can get some stupid stuff you don't want.

For me, it's the whole gambling element. I don't like it, I don't want to support it and that means not giving more money to ZOS. I still have some months left of my sub, but I'm struggling to find any motivation to keep playing. It might seem dramatic for you who obviously don't see it like that, but that's simply how I feel.

Let me splain and make it easy to follow ...

I get free crowns for subscribing. I will use my free crowns to purchase crown crates.

    That makes them free.

    Yay!

You spent 15 bucks to subscribe. So, your lucky bags cost you $15 bucks. You really need to learn how "deals" work, if you don't want everyone to take advantage of you in life.

    What's a lucky bag???

It's a way that you can utterly screw yourself over by looking for "good deals." You can search the internet, right?

The video I saw with Matt Firor, he said it was a way to buy mounts that were once for sale but are no longer for sale.

If that's the case, then I see no issue with it, since new mounts will go for sale and then later on you can get them by gambling on a container. I personally don't like the gambling aspect so I won't buy them.

However, if loyalty reward mounts/pets (like the striped senche mount) are obtainable from these containers, then I'd be mad, since those were "gifts" to players who were subscribers since launch or for a long period of time.

than why not just return them to the store? Creating a new currency (gems) only makes it more complicated, I swear this company has no clue on any front on how easy it is to make a customer base happy. We ask for things and theres always a catch that pisses us off.

There's new, exclusive, stuff going in the bags too. Matt Firor mentioned it, but then Gina confirmed in another thread. If it was just stuff that was no longer available, but had been, I'd be inclined to agree with you. But, we're already starting with stuff that was never available.

This is an important fact. These boxes will generate more income than selling the item directly in the store, that's how gambling works. Don't have to wear a tinfoil hat to see where new stuff likely will be added in the future.

I cannot see how a userbase thinks this a good idea going forward even if you don't care about cosmetics and such. One might think they'll use the money to improve the game and I hope it will, but you have to know they'll focus on the things that brings in the most money.

For me it is about purchasing things i want. I want to be able to go to the store and buy apples. So when i get home i can eat apples. Not go to the store and buy a bag that has a small chance to have apples in it. So when i get home i can eat the chalk I got in my bag.

But that's not how it is.
You have apple type A in the store, which you can buy at a fixed price, all transparent.
You have those boxes with random content - including apple type A and apple type B.

If you want to be sure to purchase apples, just buy apple type A and don't buy the ransom boxes. Problem solved (assuming there was a problem in the first place...)

If it's apple type B you originally wanted, then sorry, they're not available in direct purchase, that's life. You don't have a *right* to get the exact product you want sold to you in the quantity, packaging and delivery mode you like.

    Hello everyone,

Always happy to hear your opinions on the Loot Boxes, seems to be quite the hot topic lately. Though we've felt it necessary to close this thread, the reason being that there is already a larger thread on the same topic found here. Please feel free to post your opinions on the matter there to be discussed

    Thank you for your understanding!
