I'm not sure it'll be a city in the traditional sense of a hub to turn in quests, craft etc.

It will, but I mean I only get very occasional and short lag spikes in cities.

But the main thing is at the moment, nobody quite knows what form Clockwork City will take. I imagine that the architecture will be intricate, but it depends on how it's implemented and for how many people.

Even as bad as content roll out (as far as bugs) you still want content.
I'd rather they stop doing one update a quarter as far as paid content and instead offer a min of one and a max of two large DLC a year.

I'd rather them spent 6-9 month making the entire game smoother. A lot is still changing tho so I'd guess the mentality is to roll the changes out and then work on resolving things.

One Tamriel will be the largest update ever as far as changes and new content tho so I'm fine waiting another 6 months for Clckwork or longer if it's not a huge zone.

For me what's keeping ESO interesting is the quarterly agenda although I see many problems with this, I don't think they can change that right now without severely impacting the "success" of the game.

I understand every two or three weeks past any update(sometimes even earlier) people start a thread about "what's on next update" clearly because they weren't satisfied with the current and believe maybe the next can hold them tight.

As the updates go by they lose interest and faith and start bashing Zenimax Online for not providing what they're after. But still stick around, the next might be "their update".

Zenimax Online is aware of this and keep providing new content(and apparently, have a reasonable amount of people working on the game so until we see people moving out/being moved I'd guess they'll stick with the quarterly plans.

Every game behaves unintended at some point, and what keeps it from completely failing in the market is the amount of time those unintended behaviors leave their customers frustrated, and despite the shameful state of the LFG tool, design choices are something to live with instead of backtracking every time someone starts a thread to complain about it, and the overall statistics seem favorable to Zenimax Online.

As we agree with some and disagree with others design choices made by the dev and executive group, and the ones made in earlier games by the Zenimax group, they always seem to take the broader road, and we cannot really blame companies for that.

Doom thread and naysay the game/company is bad for PR but won't keep people from trying and playing the game and apparently won't keep people from staying and subbing either. And until the numbers start to drop for @ZOS_MattFiror and the statistics team, I don't think anything really different is to be expected.

In the end, it all relies on if there is another game on the market to attract the public and I'd say that, unfortunately, no.

TL;DR the game is what it is and if you haven't enjoyed until now this is probably not the game for you.

Technically not. It was created by Sotha Sil and mechanical engineers designed by him. It's certainly Dwemer inspired, but the Dwemer had nothing to do with its creation.

Well... A ghost of The Prophet (or maybe whoever you sacrificed in the end of the main questline, I don't know) appears behind your character right after talking to Chief Bazrag when you talk to him for the last time, to effectively finish Orsinium's questline saying that, without quoting exactly, Oblivion is in war and that all Daedric Princes are choosing sides for the events that will happen when, and now I quote, "the gates of Sotha Sil's lost city are re-opened".

So definitely something related to The Clockwork CIty will exist but, you knew that I would say that, no ETA™

Abah's Landing may be even bigger and more intricate than Orsinium and I do not recall hearing about problems there. So I would not assume that all big cities are going to be bugged.

And the Clockwork City will be very detailed, I have no doubt. Look at how gorgeous all of the cities and terrain in ESO are already, Sotha Sil's city will be no different.

But keep in mind that we need to keep the hype low.

While ESO is gorgeous, and one of the most (if not THE most) richly detailed MMO's on the market right now, it's still an MMO. Keeping all of those player running (somewhat) smoothly, and having the game keep track of all the decisions players are making while also running the NPC's/Shops/Mob Groups/Battles/etc., is hugely draining on the servers.

Hence why most every MMO has low graphic resolutions. Lower graphics means more power to put towards processing everything else going on in the game.

That said; I'm not trying to say that you are crapping on ESO's graphics. However, I have seen mentions (in other threads) from people who were/are upset that ESO doesn't look "nearly as good as" Skyrim. Those are also the same people who conveniently forget that this is an MMO, and there are processing requirements that necessitate a lower graphic resolution.

The Clockwork City will be richly detailed like the rest of the game, but I'm trying to get everyone to keep their hype in check. :)

    Here's the important piece .....

If the content is considers good and it offers not just one type of players but touches PvE, PvP, solo, group and raid styles THEN you can offer only 1 a year cause it's more than what's been offered since launch.

I think its a pretty safe bet that they will make the city look great. If you see the interview with the top designer (don't remember his name) they do put a lot of thought and detail into their landscapes/maps. I mean its a safe bet if you do take the time to go around to the maps their done pretty well across the board. Even for an mmo they are pretty great. Thats coming from someone who almost exclusively pvps and cares about that content. I think what the real question is what will we be able to do in the city? That tends to be the problem that most people have when they put out new content. Most of the time they put out content that people lose interest in fast or something completely different from what the community ask them to do with that certain content. So i think the real question is. What will be the purpose of clockwork city and what details can they provide to us to give us an idea what to expect. Which honestly I don't see to much coming out. From what I've seen they put out the general information right before it's about to drop. So the community will just have to wait till then.

I do agree that they shouldn't do the quarterly dlc's. I think that two big dlc's at the beginning and end of the year would be good. Provided the content is rewarded able and fun most people will stick around for doing that for a couple of months. Which one releases in the beginning of the year. And the second one towards the end of the year. It will allow them time to work on the dlc's and help patch the game to fix bugs at a consistent rate. Which by the way if your new its a big thing with the community here. This would allow them time not to rush for deadlines and give us quality dlc's packed full of content.

Right topic. Original poster was scared that Clockwork City would be buggy like Orsinium is, a big city where characters keep getting stuck behind infinite load screens. But Abah's Landing is a big city that has not had the problems that Orsinium has. So no need to panic about Clockwork City yet. It might be like Abah's Landing! Hopefully...

Given the teasers from Dark Brotherhood DLC about Vvardenfell (aka Morrowind), I suspect that the Clockwork City will come out as part of that, whenever that new DLC is released.
