Say no to gambling boxes

This slippery slope has gone too far. When ESO went b2p, they said "no loot boxes". Now they introduce loot boxes and say "never p2w". I don't trust the word of Zenimax anymore.

Say no to the slippery slope and say no to loot boxes! If we let them do this, p2w will come eventually.

As there is actually a pattern where the crownstore gets more and more and more and more every quarter. So, how long can it take?

Just so that everyone knows, my Altmer still can't have black hair. About a dozen of Altmer NPCs in the game have black hair. Just saying.

    Meet my characters:
    Command: Do the thing.

Zadarri, Khajiit Fist of Thalmor: The thing was done, as commanded.
Durza gra-Maghul, Orc blacksmith: The thing was done perfectly, in the most efficient way.
Tegwen, Bosmer troublemaker: You can't prove I didn't do the thing.
Sings-Many-Songs, Argonian fisher: Sure, I'll do the thing... Eventually. Maybe.
Aerindel, Altmer stormcaller: After extensive research, I've come to the conclusion that doing the thing would be a waste of resources.
Liliel, Dunmer pyromancer: Aerindel said I shouldn't do the thing. Something about "resources".
Gyda Snowcaller, Nord cryomancer: I will find a way to do it that won't waste resources and make Aerindel proud of me.
Beatrice Leoriane, Breton vampire: I persuaded someone else into doing the thing. You are welcome, dear.
Sahima, Redguard performer: Doing the thing sounds awfully unpleasant and really not my problem.
Ellaria Valerius, Imperial priestess: I'll pray to the Eight for the thing to be done, if it is Their will.

The day that ESO becomes p2w, I will say no.

It would be silly to protest loot boxes for that reason though. They will be purely cosmetic items, and it will include previously retired items. Additionally, it will have no exclusive items.

I don't see the slippery slope here.

I wouldn't be so completely pissed off it this wasn't the case. I was actually pretty accepting of it until someone linked this on Reddit.

@Abeille Ohh my! That's new information to me, and it does change my attitude a little bit. They're still cosmetic items, but the super special mount will become a sort of bragging right, much like the dro'mathra senche.

    WRONG.
They specifically stated that there will be, at least, mounts that are ONLY obtainable thru loot boxes.

I can't afford to spend 30,000 crowns for a chance at something I could get for 1000 crowns. It takes away my options to choose what I purchase. This may actually be the straw that broke the camel's back for me :/

Yeah, there is a lot of conflicting information appearing right now because ZOS didn't stream it, so people who were there are our only sources :/

After watching that video, I'm hoping very hard that they will be exactly like the dro-m'athra senche: So ridiculously flashy that it doesn't fit any of my characters, so I won't want any of these "super special mounts".

Next up they will introduce other items that will slowly move the treshold to p2w. The later you go against these practices, the harder it will become to prevent p2w. If this is step 8, what's step 9? And what's step 10? I rather prevent step 8, as this is just as horrible. (and something I atleast will quit over, even though I played from day 1 + beta)

The problem with that is that they haven't as yet taken a single step towards p2w. There is absolutely nothing in the Crown Store that is essential or that gives you an advantage over another player. Exclusive mounts or other cosmetic/fluff/convenience items in a lockbox won't change that.

One Tamerial upgrade is almost free of cost, huge changes are commig to base game. They did put lot of money + efforts into it. If you do not want box then simply do not buy.

Let developers make some money to support this game.

    Casino style lock boxes....

This goes any further you might as well see Zenimax as players saw Cryptic Studios with Star Trek Online....Cryptic Studios went down the same road...got bought out, bust, sold again and got hacked...

Giving people options and then throwing them behind restrictions....always a bad idea...

Well I can guarantee I won't buy them. But it's disappointing, I think it's a bad move for the game.

I'm concerned that this means returning mounts, costumes etc. will only be inside these boxes so if you miss out the first time around you'll have no other choice but to keep paying out for a chance at getting the one you wanted. And the initial windows are often pretty small.

I have nothing against the normal lootboxes. Think it is a nice way to get some items that have been removed from the store, but the exclusives sound a bit suspicious.

ofcourse they wont just drop everything in the game and make it p2w in 1 patch -.-
its a step-by-step procedure.. you either notice it or not..
look at the daily pledges for example.. non-DLC owners do not have alternative pledge when there is a DLC gold pledge.. slight step that most players condone.. but its a company out there.. if that worked and the community accepted it.. there is no problem of going to the next level.. so your blabla is pointless as long as you support this.

you dont want future "mystery boxes" attitude in crown stores?. its simple. dont buy mystery boxes -.-
if you say you dont want/like the mystery boxes approach from zenimax and still buy 1 or 100 boxes, then you are a clueless lad because you just supported it and voted for it.

the yes i want and no thank you vote for "mystery boxes" is not a poll on the freaking forum -.-
its a vote you make with your real money/crowns

Oh you change your opinion REALLY fast when it appear that all lootbox items are tradeable (for gold)
    Why treadeable?
Cos this is how its handled in 90% of ALL MMOs released to date
    Also its fair system

Right now there are 3 possible options:

a)player friendly - loot boxes will never give you a "drop" that you own cos those item are removed from drop tables
    - as a result most whales would buy only few or none of RNG boxes cos they allredy have most of items, and it would not be so hard to drop few "desired" ones
This option have basically minimal chances to appear

    b)standard
boxes gives absoulte trash most of the time, but they also drop cosmetics and mounts, including super rare ones.
All of this is tradeable for gold
Whales would buy boxes like candy just to get some "free" gold

" /z WTS dro mathra senche 2M, white wolf 1M. To each purchase Breton hero costume for free..."

    c) REALLY player unfriendly
boxes gives random trash, AND you can get any number of repeats - like 10 mudcrab pets in a row, and no way to do anything with them (cos they bound to account)
    OR
    - repeats instead turn into "some extra fresh store food and soul gems with a bonus chance for respec scroll"

And no - i dont think that option b) is actually P2W

its not a worry of the game becoming pay to win..
with loot boxes you may find yourself buying 20 or 30 to get the "exclusive" item you want
but if there is no loot boxes, the items will eventually be in the crown store for the price of 2 or 3 loot boxes
