FFX had a system where you could switch your character ultimate generation to your preferred means, like taking damage, dealing damage, with killing blows etc.
Why can't this kind of flexible system be applied to ESO?
Simply tie the ultimate generation to the roles chosen in the Group window:
- Tanks generate 3 ultimate per second after being damaged.
- Damage dealers generate 3 ultimate per second with basic attacks.
- Healers generate 3 ultimate per second when healing an ally.
Then, if there are two or more roles selected:
- Selecting healer and tank roles will generate 2 ultimate per second, by either healing an ally, or taking damage, whichever comes first.
- Selecting all roles will generate 1 ultimate per second after either attacking with a basic attack, taking damage, or healing an ally.
Ultimate cannot be generated while out of combat.
