Why have some of the Mages Guild Lorebook locations changed?

Console player here. I have done the mages lorebook hunting before about 8 months ago on my main.

I used a particular site to hunt down the books. Upon doing this on an alt I used the same site and I vaguely remembered the locations, anyway some of the books have been moved.

Why?

What does this solve?

There isn't much info on the old locations for consoles players and now they've moved a few lorebooks with no way of finding out where it is. (Unless you know of a fully upto date site/app, let me know thanks)

Note: i use Duffy for lorebooks.

Like earlier in alkir desert, going off of Duffy, they had the same locations that I used before. Most remained the same except a few had been moved, like I said I remember doing these before so I'm 100% sure of this.
Reapers march also has had some been moved.

They'll be more I'm sure, but I only just started doing this.

Why implement such an inconvenient change? When there's much larger problems that need addressing.

PC and Console have many miniscule differences. No one has bothered to make guides based on Console is all. Most of them are still accurate though, and Lorebooks can be found in more than 1 place.

I noticed this the other day on xbox. One in evermore for instance used to be on the dock, now it's near the town entrance. There were a few like this.

About a year ago, the last time I was lore book hunting, I believe there were many listed in the achievements that weren't actually even in the game at all. Does anyone know if this is still the case?

    Hey OP,

I use those lorebook hunting sites as well and frequently they mislabel some which will mess up your seeking a little bit. Say you pick up a book titled "Call to Arms" but it was labeled "Tales of the Khajiit" on the website, you will think you acquired the khajiit book but really you didn't. Later, when it's time to find "Call to Arms" the book won't be in it's place, it seems like it is missing or 'moved' like you say (each book has more than one location so they must've accidentally located the same book twice and labled the two books different names) because... you already have it. Happened to me every time I hunt for a new character.

Double check what book you're actively seeking and go in order from the in game list to keep track what you actually find in case there are site errors. And sometimes you might have to go to another site instead.

Hope I made sense.. And from where I found my books I'm sure pc and console locations are the same.

    Good luck!

Not sure, but if you're hunting books just to get to mage guild 9, then I'd suggest working through the books listed under the individual lands like Aurdion, Reapers March, Glenumbra, etc. They each contain 10 books per area so that's a good category to start with and these all exist.

Yeah, that's generally what I do. But you also get more XP for completing a book "collection." When trying to close out a few of these, I ran across some books that, according to Reddit, and pretty much every other ESO related forums, were not yet in the game. Just odd to me that they'd be listed like that without being in the game.

Link to alkir desert lorebooks. Book no: 3 ( Redguards, History and Heroes, V.2 ) is not in the location that it shows BUT the last time (months ago) I did lorebook hunting it was there- in the location. IT HAS 100% BEEN MOVED.
I managed to find the lorebook, but I am asking why did they move it and why did they move a couple of others?

There are more but that one I'm certain of.

I'm on console, and I use this for "Shalidors Library" (the blue mages guild books) -

    http://teso.mmorpg-life.com/lorebooks-locations-map/

That link is amazingly useful, and hasn't let me down yet. I go and get them all before I exit a zone, so I am 10/10 on all zone books.

Dulfy is incomplete also. Never went to half the dungeons. Such as direfrost keep isn't listed on any of them. It's last the 1st troll boss, down the tunnel and stuffed right in the first right hand bend you come to.

There is one in Ghratwood that it mentioned as being in a basement behind a quest. ..well on console it's in both, do the quest and it's down there but it's also about 30s walk away outside.

The daedric lore sections on all of them are still incomplete as well.

What op is saying is that the books were moved recently.

I'm talking I did it three weeks ago, then last week. Some books had 100% moved during that time.

I know they also recently moved some lorebooks that required a quest completion to discover, this way a quest is no longer needed in order to find the book.

I am on PC & use the Lorebook add-on & it often seems that Lorebooks have 3 possible positions (IE: you see the same book on the map in 3 places that are all fairly close to each other.) When you pick up the first instance of the lorebook that you come across, the other 2 disappear from the map.

It's like quantum super-positioning.. they can exist in 3 places at once until observed ;)

If I am not mistaken, they have been making adjustments to the world in preparation for housing. This includes moving the placement of some lore books.
