You need scaling so anyone can play with anyone. It's not much of a brag to say "You can play with anyone....as long as you do not want XP or drops."

But see that's the problem. They're trying to reinvent the wheel and we are pointing out it's flaws.

There's no need for them to reinvent the wheel. IMO there's nothing wrong with the system we have now. That's how the game was designed and it was obviously heavily based on DAOC which I loved. You couldn't play with everyone in that game, just your realm. Your friend insists on Hibernia and you only want Migdard? Tough, you'll see him on the battle field. And you could group with someone much higher or lower than you but either the rewards sucked or you got destroyed.

The wheel was invented long ago and proven to be successful. Why try to turn it into some weird circle-square hybrid?

this game has so many bad design choices, what's a few more ?

if anything, do it by geography, certain places are rich in some things and barren in others ...

Of course they could always do it like Skyrim did and make certain zones rich in particular materials, while maybe still having some others

I like this the most - I explore, know what is to find where and when I need it, I go there and farm a good amount of that material and then I am good again. This is a very good way to do that IMO. And it encourages exploration - well at least as long as it takes for someone to put a list on the web, that is, or make an add-on for this.

Because sometimes the solution is not necessarily a circle

And is the wheel really such a good solution?- It requires special tracks like roads, railway tracks - nature shows pretty well, that there are far better ways to move around which work pretty much everywhere.

Or you can simply go to a shrine, respec your skill points and just do not put skill points into the craft or as much as you need, to get the crafting level for that material which you would want to farm - then you can farm that one 50% of the time. It costs a little gold, sure, but this way you can do it at any player level, if this would be required.

It costs a lot of gold, and a fair amount of time to recover your build. If we could despec individual skills, then, I'd agree, that'd be an option. Spend 350 gold, knock your passive down where you want it, go on with your day.

But, the shrines are a full wipe. Trying to reassign 200sp in order to get access to a lower material tier is not my idea of a good time, no offense intended.

on ps4 it is still 1 gold per skill point. I assume they will keep it like this from now on but I have not heard for sure

1g per skill point is something they usually bring out right after introducing major overhauls to existing skills. It's always been temporary in the past, and I doubt anything will change. On PC right now it's, I think, 50g per skill point. Which isn't a huge problem on a character with 20 or 30 sp assigned, but when you're talking about characters like my endgame crafter, that's 12.5k or so.

this is the first time I know of that they gave us reduced respect cost at all since console release and I have played since release fairly regularly. (unless it was early on and I did not need it at the time to pay attention?) They may have done so before on PC but I do not know, so I can not even speculate. It has been this same cost since TG dropped so it seems they are keeping it for a bit. Did it get more expensive again when SoH dropped for PC? I have not heard any mention of that or seen it in patch notes
I know it used to be expensive (I have 6 vets myself and respec all the time) but when the reduced cost was still around a month after TG came out I thought it meant they would keep it as is

It might have been left accidentally active on the PS4, or it's possible you've still got a onetime discount on your characters active. But, no, the normal cost is 50g per skill point.

In the past, they have instituted a 1g per skill point respec. Originally, they just triggered forced respecs. You'd log in, and need to redo your character, but after... I want to say 1.5, people complained, and subsequent respecs have been optional. So, when TG hit, there was a week or two where you could respec at 1g per point. Maybe after DB dropped as well, I don't remember. But, it's not a permanent cost.

It might actually be a one off thing for you. Where if you respec it'll go back to the real cost.

Back at launch it was 100g per skill point, so there has been an overall cost reduction. But, still.

I would fly to corporate HQ and kiss someone if they did this, and made those places make sense. Sounds too creepy. I retract that statement, but I would like it if they did that.

Take your spouse or girl friend with you and kiss her there - than it is no longer creepy

Agreed. I loved to explore in Skyrim and love to explore in this game.

TLDR, more importantly, why do you care? A low level toon will obviously be able to get them, and that is the only person that will need them. It's not like its profitable to craft low level stuff. Also, I am pretty sure hirelings will still do it if you dont max the skill line.

Because we craft for other players, not just ourselves. It is just removing another option in crafting that does not need to be removed.

As for Profit, it can real profitable to craft low level stuff for someone else with mats I farmed myself, as that is all profit at that point (ignoring opportunity cost)
    Well said Nestor.
I am a "one toon" kind of player. My main is my master craftier. I craft for 3 guilds regularly. My main guild offers "free research traits for guild mates", so that takes lots of level 1 mats.
We have new players joining weekly, so I craft gear from level 10- CP 160, and I keep a supply of all these on hand, (FYI, not all players are automatically CP160. There are lots of new players who still need CP50 or CP20 gear.)
Options of "respect skills" is a NO. I worked hard to max out my crafting and get 9 traits on all, and at 329sp, it is not only a pain, but counter productive to be a "master crafter".
Option 2 was to buy them. I sell excess mats, not buy them. And almost ALL the crafting I do, I do for free, so spending a lot of gold on mats to give away is not a option either, hense why I farm my own.
Best case is they will make nodes 50/50. Time will tell. There is my 2 Septims..
