End Game Weapon Glyph Choice

I need to improve/upgrade the weapons on two of my characters (CP319) and i need to figure out the best gylphs to have on their weapons.

The first is a Nord Templar whom is wearing 5pc Affliction and 5pc Fasalla's Guile. All my characters spend most of their time in Cyrodiil. My ranged weapon is a lightening staff - better to go with a Poison glyph or glyph of Weapon Damage? His second weapon is a 2H Battle Axe, which i'll re-enchant with Poison.

The other character I'm working on is a "High" :) Elf, Sorcerer. He's wearing 5pc Phoenix and 5pc VD. He also uses a lightening staff (best PVP weapon by far - love the "auto-aim"). Same question - better to go with a Poison glyph or glyph of Weapon Damage? His backup is One Hand and Shield (i'm not so crazy about getting up close and personal with opposing players with my mage) - will probably place Poison on his 1H Axe.

Bonus question - how worthwhile is it to acquire the Prismatic Defense glyphs (they're running around 25k right now)?

Unless you were going for a full offense build, weapon damage glyphs is not very useful. Both of your characters seem to be oriented around PvP but don't really seem to be pure glass cannons. As such the extra healing reduction from Disease works great in addition to Fassala's Guile. The DoT from fire enchants will help in fighting dodge builds. Prismatic glyph for weapons is good on paper but not really very effective due to its selective nature.

I don't know about all you guys, but I sure love my 348 weapon/spell damage weapon glyph...
Currently, I'm using this glyph on a Infused Bow (back bar). It gives a nice 418 weapon damage for 5 seconds.

On my front bar though, I like using the Crushing enchant, but Disease is a good one to have as well.

On armor, it's mainly useful as a way of getting more stamina without sacrificing too much Magicka.
Do you have Undaunted 9? (More important in my opinion...)

But if you have the gold for it.. go for it.. Only use it on big piece (head / chest /legs) though..

Thanks for the reply darthsithis (I got a buddy playing SWTOR who'd love that id)...

I thought I was a fairly well rounded player - but, the more I read everyone's posts, the more I realize I'm more of a niche player :(

The weakening and crushing glyphs sound interesting, but, better suited for dueling and group pvp...

I'm noticing more and more that folks utilize mostly vma and trial weapons in their builds...with the right jewelry - you can still get two 5 pc bonuses with your build and have those vma and trial weapons...

I feel the same about the fire, shock and frost weapon enchants - you start out with those early on in the game - but, after a while you want to try something different...

Hi susmitds...thank you very much for taking the time to answer...I appreciate it...the Nordic uses the affliction set - so, I'm not sure how the disease glyph proc effect will work with the 50% chance for disease damage from the set...

I hadn't thought of using the fire glyph on the mages lightening staff, interesting thought...

I guess though my real question is - just how useful are the Weapon Damage glyphs?

Other than my two NB's (whom have 3k weapon damage) my other characters all have weapon damage of around 2k or so.

Have you tried out the prismatic defense glyphs?

Hey sluice...thanks for the feedback on the Weapon Damage glyph...that's kinda where I was heading with the templar's lightening staff...

No Undaunted perks at the time - for some weird reason the dungeons and caves started making me feel a little claustrophobic...I haven't been inside a dungeon or cave with any of my characters for months...

I've focused a lot on PvP survivability, although I don't need to really kill anyone to get AP (I just need to get a shot or two in to help with someone's demise  )...I really want to start hitting a little harder...

I feel ya about the dungeons..
After getting Undaunted for my Magplar, it took me a good 2 months and a half before I've built the courage to work on getting Undaunted on another character.

But people are getting excited about little things: Wood Elf getting 6% increase stamina instead of 3%, etc.
Undaunted 6% to every attribute is huge, but not mandatory.

The prismatic glyph (on head/chest/shoulder) will definitely help your survivability in PVP.
If you still die because of lack of stamina there are other things you can try:
-Adding a Stamina Recovery piece (Bloodspawn)
-Playing with 2 Agility piece. (I used to to this on my back bar: sword and shield of Agility), so I had 18k Stamina. Pretty good for a Magicka Templar!
-Getting Alchemy to level 50 for the Medicinal Use passives, and using tri-stat potions...

    Good luck!

As a high elf magicka sorc that can decimate v16 mudcrabs effortlessly and efficiently, I tend to have a few different enchant setups in case I come across a skeever den and need to switch up to my situation.

So for vma, I use my sharpened staff of prismatic onslaught (deals like 7k on light attacks) and find it useful for undaunted dungeons and many trials as well

I have my non-daedra staff which uses the ~400 spell and weapon power glyph, and find it handy in my sewer runs in case I come across the odd enemy, and very much like a kena proc'd weave and frag with an extra 348 spell power complicating the situation for whoever is unlucky enough to not be a nightblade in stealth. Also good for vet maw of lorkhaj.

I also have a fire staff that creates a ~1500 point damage shield for situations with lots of ads. i want to not waste resources on wards as much in those situations, and this allows for some extra weaving and less shielding. Those things are expensive. Seriously, they should at least blow up at the end and do some damage for the cost and short duration. Anyways

Resto staff is a maelstrom one, and my backup uses the 'deal ~2000 magic damage and restore 230ish'

I don't recommend fire glyphs on staves or anyhting like that...I just think that much more exciting and versatile enchants exist.

Of course you could always go with the classic 'opponent loses spell and weapon power' to make people like me freak out when they get hit with that.
Message me if you want to do trials/dungeons, or need a trading guild! Flawless conqueror magsorc with a bad sense of armor fashion.

For the nord templar I ended up bumping his battle axe to gold and applying a poisen glyph...for his staff I went with hardening glypth (need 6 more rosin to go gold)...i also changed a jewelry glypth to wespon damage...I've focused so much on his health and spell damage that he hits like a wet noodle...

I need to do a better job figuring out his ability rotation...I know it's not the smartest move, but, for some reason I've stuck myself with repentance, lingering ritual, and unstoppable on both bars??? I use one bar for range (aurora javelin and jesus beam) and one for melee (fwd momentum and reverse slice)...

If you see the role of your (Nord) Tank, besides absorbing damage, as debuffing enemies:
Shock enchant to have a chance on a proc of Concussion, giving Minor Maim (15% damage reduction from the enemy) for a few seconds. That is usefull in PVE and PVP.
Disease enchant to have a chance on a proc of Minor Defile (15% healing reduction for the enemy) for a few seconds. This is usefull in PVP.

That's an excellent thought about the templar: healing, tanking and also debuffing - definitely a team player...normally though I fight around groups and not in them - I just can't take the mic chatter anymore - I know I'm missing out on a lot of strategy and gameplay mechanics tips, plus a little groupie fun :p - but the thought of folks coughing, yelling and whining in my ear makes me cringe now...

so, a good portion of my builds are pretty self centered in nature...not to say I'm not supporting or helping folks who're rocking the same color banner...I just don't do much of that inside of a group...

what I really need is to get a good handle on my ability rotation in combat...

big thanks for the 15 second proc effect info - I wasn't really sure how long the process effect lasted...not really sure on what % chance there is to proc the effect...

    cheers

but it is not a 15 second duration effect, it is a 15% reduction of either the damage output of the enemy, or the Healing taken by the enemy.
The Proc effect has a duration of a few seconds.
For Shock Concussion around 3 seconds.

The proc chance of a Shock enchant is 20% (like all elemental weapon enchants)
I don't know from the top of my head the proc chance of a Disease enchant.
    I come back on that.
