Now you know why bots are such a problem. Bots are the only real way to farm enough in a reasonable amount of time to get enough tempers for anything

Its been a while since I have done it, but when I refine mats, it's typically after a lot of surveys (last time i collected surveys, I had over a thousand of them). Needless to say, you end up with a lot of raw mats (certainly can be well into 5 figures). I have done this several times over the years. I have never seen what I would call a significant deviation from the 1/200 number on any mat type.
I think a lot of people let their own perception bias their perception of the results (which they likely never tracked all that closely to begin with).
For example: I have at least 4 times more rosin than any other gold mat type, and not couting jewelry crafting, Wax is always the scarcest one in my bank. Well that makes sense. I mostly play a DPS (light and medium armor) and the VMA staff and Bow has been meta since forever. I almost never use rosin anymore. That said, keeping 17 toons in gold gear can chew threw a lot of wax. If I hadnt kept the receipts over the years, I might be under the false impression that rosin drops more than wax, but I am fairly confident that is not the case.
