Question: Is it against the rules to use images in your signature still?

nah you can add images of what ever you want, also some people have a feature in settings to not show the image.

Multiple people have it. I used a image in mine a year or so ago and got a warning for using one.... and they removed it. However I have seen some more people with them and figured maybe now its ok?

I don't have the "stip images out of signatures" option ticked, yet I don't see much images on the forum.
Maybe I just haven't looked enough.

Did a quick testing.
This is the result:

Well you can always manually add signature by just typing

at the end of your post and put img bb code. Like this:

This is not necessarily a good idea, to do it like that - because moderators will most likely see this as unwanted spam, if you post often - and if you do not post often, why have a signature at all?

Pictures in signatures are hard to moderate and can be easily abused. They also pose licensing issues since people are using whatever they want when creating a signature. While I also like pictures in signatures, I understand why they are not allowed.

This kind of images should not be possible since the forum does not allow BBCode images in signatures.
That person obviously found a way to bypass the BBCode restriction, and is in violation of forum terms.
I would not suggest you go that route.

I personally don't. A bit of text at the bottom is fine, but pics and other stuff can quickly turn what is presently a fairly clean and accessible forum into a mess.

Just click on it and you will see how it is done - it is just an image in the normal section of the post.

I don't want image signatures. Keep the forums nice, clean and streamlined.

I think you're confusing company related forums with forums made by individuals.
This is an official forum, hence licensing issues and the stuff I mentioned is a big problem. I doubt you will easily find an official mmorpg forum that allows pictures in their signatures.

Every other private forum allows signatures, I'm sure it also poses some kind of risk, but it's unlikely anything too bad could happen to the owner.

I've seen in a lot of other forums that people use images in their signatures to advertise other sites/products/etc. By not allowing the use of images solves this problem without needing 3-4 forum mods constantly on to police and remove this form of unwanted spam.

Of course not, that was just an example of how a workaround could be done, which looks like a signature.

It is not a signature, this is obviously the end of the text after his every post.
Like this:

You can see that someone is bypassing the signature this way by clicking Quote on that comment.
This image along with any "signature" text will be included in the quote.
Regular signatures are never quoted.
