Dual wield heavy attacks broken?

I have been working on a heavy attack centered stam dk build and I noticed that dual wield heavy attacks deal significantly less damage then the 2h equivalent.

I was testing on the giants and mammoths in wrothgar and I was able to pull about 16-21k on 2h heavy attacks with crit and only about 9-12k (both weapons combined) dual wield. I then switched over to sword and board just for fun and noticed I could get crits of up to 14k!! Something seems off to me here, if I am able to hit 14k with s&b I should be able to theoretically hit 28k with dual wield.

My stats were 24k stam 2.9k ish weapon damage with dual wield and like 2.8k with the 2h

Can anyone explain to me why I hit so much less on the dual wield bar?

If your holding heavy attacking with 2h they'll hit 10% harder after the first one via a passive.

Yes I thought about that but were talking almost 100% more damage on 2h heavy attack. The dual wield was hitting at most 7k one hand 5k the other with crits.

A dual wield heavy attack is not twice the damage of a one handed attack. The offhand weapon strikes for significantly less than the mainhand.

I think there is a damage adjustment to account for dual wield heavy attacks being able to trigger both weapon enchantments and the way heavy attacks function with the dual wield passives.

IIRC, DW has higher base weapon damage, but considerably less attack power than 2h. So your light and heavy attacks are much weaker, but your abilities hit much harder.

I mean, I pick based off the abilities my build needs, rather than just the raw DPS potential, so it's not something I've paid a lot of attention to.

Actually DW does not trigger both enchantments with 1 heavy attack. Sucks but I have witnessed this myself :( The 2nd enchantment procs on the next attack regardless of light or heavy.

Shame. Less damage and only one proc. I don't get the mechanics but there's many things I don't get about this game. Looks like don't dual wield and heavy attack I guess.

Do they require the same amount of time to be charged up? From my memory I'd say dw heavies charge much faster, but I never tested it properly, so might be wrong.

So the title of the thread is incorrect then. The attack isn't broken, you just didn't know/don't understand.

Next someone will make a thread saying 2h heavy attacks are OP.

I feel that light attacks of 2H are performed faster than light attacks of dual wield, thus do much more damage.
    Somehow it's not right...

It's not incorrect it's a question. I wasn't sure and some people were nice enough to answer and explain. For some reason you came along and posted with no added value to the discussion.
