Poll: Would you like dungeons to have a 3rd difficulty level?

It's a good suggestion, and I wouldn't mind seeing it, but to be honest I wouldn't personally support this as a development priority right now. There are other items on the table that would benefit a higher proportion of the player base.

I'm happy to see that most people are voting and posting for "yes" so far. Also happy to read the several "wouldn't do it but wouldn't mind" comments.

I will mostly reply to people I respectfully disagree with:
I would never do it, but a harder difficulty for those who wanted it would be great,

But if you want that higher tier to have better loot or a chance at better loot, you are just setting yourself up for it to get nerfed.

As I see it, there would be no chance at better loot, but a better chance at same loot (helms, or sets for WGT and ICP). Agree better loot would increase the performance gap, like Mealstrom weapons already do.
I would prefer the current vet not be made any easier (per your edit)

I understand and I hesitated about that. But slightly easier vet mode would, imo, help many players jump from silver to glod pledges.

They group for gold with a bit low dps, haven t learned the tactics yet, get called noobs when not simply kicked, and often end up disgusted. Those who are stuck at this point of their learning curve are more than we think, because they often gave up, went back questing or even left game, and we don't see them any more. I've seen this happen many times now.
Granted, many also do the jump all right, especially with a good guild, but it really happens.

Also, the expert mode wouldn't make 4 ppl dungs that nightmarish either, that is for trials, so most ppl who can make golds now could jump to it, just with some struggle.
Hit no not so much that it is a bad idea but because it would take significant development resources that in the end will cater to an extremely small percentage of the population.

Disagree that it would take "significant dev ressources". Some ressource yes, it surely takes some testing and all, but at the end of day it s just "mobs hit harder and tank more", or almost.
Let modders mess into it and some guy will make you the expert mode in a few days. (not possible, ofc, but you get the idea)

I also disagree with you about difficulty... You see, I'm part of maybe the 50 or 40% best players, no more. Maybe I should have precised that before.
I can't beat vMA (...yet! speaking of, I could use a middle-step), never did vMoL or vSO, and... I'm bored as hell doing pledges, vWGT included, if the group has a little experience of it. So it wouldn't be just for a small percentage of players.
Really agree about the third level of difficulty, and I would also recommend one for trial as well. At the current level of the game on PC N/A server, there's like 44 characther who've ever completed vMoL... that's kind of really really really low !

44? aww.... As far as I know trials, agree that they would benefit a lot from a third level, maybe not that much above the difficulty they're said to have on PTS, but between normal and vet, more or less. One more step to help us climb our way.

Also, since creating a new level of difficulty also mean that you have to create a feeling of progression, it would be nice if the gear who dropped from these dongeon not only label as Unique (yellow), but also be Unique Nightmare (Yellow), so yes a new temper level !

That would be really nice ! if it could add 25% to the current bonus receive, such gear not being usable in pvp.

I shortened the quote but agree with all your said, except this. I think it would increase too much the performance gap between players. At the end you would need expert-mode gear to beat expert mode, making the jump too hard.

Also a 3rd separate level for challenge only will prevent a lot of anger and misunderstanding in dungeons where people go for achievements, loot or undaunted dailies.

Agree with the rest of the posts, but especially with this. It s maybe the main reason I wish this third mode. And for now it HAS to be like this because 2 levels of difficutly just doesn t match the range of player competence.
So the anger and misunderstanding as you say is just unavoidable now, and very bad for the game.

With 3 levels if someone gets called a noob in vet level he can tell the guy "then why don't you go play expert mode if you're so good?", and be just right.
Is there really a point? Only tier you could add is a super hard tier for the 5% of players, if that, that want that challenge. Could not add better rewards or you would see nerfs to the content like with Vet Imp City.

Much more than 5% of players boringly master gold dungeons. As I said above I'm no 5% at all and gold pledges are no-fun ant-stomping parties now. They are for a bunch of people.

And I will read my post again, edit if needed, but I do NOT wish better gear drop in hard mode, only a better chance to drop same gear.

It has become a bit of a tedious chore to help my friends out with the daily pledges, especially as a healer, because they barely even need healing anymore

Yep... We can still trio, duo, or even solo for some, but it shouldn't be the only way. I ended up offending a friend saying "sorry group is full we're 3"...

not gonna quote all, @Alagras but agree on all things you wrote and also am pleased that many players that wouldnt do the 3rd tier content will grant the ones that would their pleasure. That is very important for the game as a whole when implementing (id like this to be a when and not an if;))

@Schemering yep I 'm afraid it s a big "if". Yet most people voted yes so far..

I thought it could be made by extending the system of "read the book or not", break statues etc, but at the entrance of each dungeon. Not my favorite solution, but better than nothing.

Since I'm here I also though that in hard mode mobs could ambush the players anywhere as they progress through the dungeon. Triggered by movement, so we don t die just because heal took a biobreak, but about anywhere. Mobs always leave us the initiative of the fight, it would change a bit. Just a detail but I would like it.
