Do you think there is cheating going on in BwB?

I think there is, and there are some people I really really want to have ESO look into but I won't send them an email because more than likely i will just get a response.. "We take cheaters seriously, however...blah blah blah "

Someone be honest with me, is it really just me not knowing the mechanics of the game or is it cheating? There has been things I have done to my build, and skills placed on my bar to give me buffs. But some players are not kill-able even when I have over 3000 spell damage and pretty high weapon damage ( over 2000 wd ).

Usually when @W0lf_z13 and I play together as a team we put up a pretty good fight. If it is us vs 1 more than likely we will win, or walk away and say that person was good. However, there has been times when we fight 1 person and they totally destroy us. Like we can pound on them over and over, drop ults and they walk around with no damage done to them, and not only that they have plenty of stam and/or mag to turn around and kill us both quickly.

I was playing by myself yesterday and there was this pest from EP that I could not kill. He just stood there and let me hit him as much as I wanted. It didn't appear he was taking any potions and no matter what I did i could never take his health down.
I tied everything, but he basically just stood there and laughed.

So tell me, is there cheating going on? Or is it a L2P issue?

i honestly believe that there is... i have video footage that i have sent in to zos of a certain ad member ( not one that comes in here ) of me pounding on him ... taking his health to zero ... but he didnt die... then his health went up to 2%... took it back to zero... didnt die.... and so on... he didnt pop any potions ... didnt block... didnt dodge... just kept running the whole time as i pummeled him with arrows and mages wrath and more arrows and poison injection... even dawnbreaker .... i ended up dying though when he ran into a big group of ad at one of the resources they were attacking

I mean... there is TANKY ... but then there are people who just make u stop and scratch ur head asking urself... how the f&*k is that possible... and the person in the vid def was one of those moments where u die leaves u saying... that is NOT possible... esp in a NON cp campaign... its fairly easy to spot the tanky/regen builds during a fight

There have been a few bwb players that I've wondered about, but only one that I have very high confidence is cheating. I don't mean taking advantage of broken mechanics, I mean altering the client side game code to achieve what would otherwise not be possible. Especially in a non CP camp.

High mitigation, practically undamagable builds are legit. But there are severe trade offs in a build like that. This particular AD player has almost 100% mitigation and hits like a truck, and never runs out of resources, and moves noticeably faster than players around him (for much longer than a speed pot lasts), and seems to have no cool down on his abilities.

I'll add that I tried to have some dialogue with him once, whispered him saying "that's some crazy ish. What sets are you running?". He responded "hahaha ur a looser" (verbatim) then blocked me so I couldn't send a follow up tell.

I'm not quick to accuse of cheating. But this players actions seem really blatant. In the 2 years I've been playing ESO pvp, I've seen a few players with this same "build", all in vet camps. Three of them are now banned, the 4th noticeably went from practically unkillable to being squishier than a wet sponge.

Honestly, I don't know. Over two years in BwB, and there have been a few times that I ran across someone that made me raise a brow. I cant think of any recently though.

When I run into someone that I cant seem to do damage to, I try to change the 'Type' of damage I am doing to them. For example, if I am trying to kill them with mag based attacks and that doesn't seem to be working, I'll switch to Dots, or stam attacks. I run strange builds though. I will always have a Dot, mag based and stam based attacks on my bars for this reason. If you can't get them one way, try something else. Honestly cant think of a player in the past 6 months that I couldn't take down eventually. They may get me 10 times but I will come back until I get it right.

That makes me think of a story:

A fiend of mine became a professional referee ( I won't name and shame the sport ). When he first started the job he was an average built guy, then when he came back to visit me he was huge. I asked if he was taking drugs, and he replied "Oh no, just working out". Later in the year his friend, who got him the job, was suspended from the sport for selling steroids.

How are you guys liking the Town Capture?

I think it sucks, just another hang out for those pesty wedding dressers. I'm slowly learning to turn around and go back, if I ride up on a town and see the wedding dressers are there.

Im with you. Same reason too. So far the towns have been nothing but a farm. I hate farms. They tend to pull the good players in, taking them away from the "real" fight.

yeah ... the towns are kind of eh.... they were cool the first few days... just cause it was a new thing to hit cyrodiil... but now they are just eh... i dont even go out of my way to defend them anymore lol... if im in the area then ill ride over... but if im across the map i wont like i would for DC or another keep

As one of the wedding dress wearers (though I got a new, skimpy white dress) I really like the towns. If I'm playing with one or two friends they do tend to make for a good farm, but I really like them more as a stepping off point for attacks.

And on the note of cheating, there is only one person I have ever questioned in BwB. I'll say that they were similarly rude when I asked them how they seemed to move so much faster than a stam sorc orc sprinting with major and minor expedition stacked via hurricane. That seemed fishy to me...

I should say that an accusation of cheating is pretty harsh and damning. There are a lot of things that we aren't privy to in BwB that we can assume in vet - for example, gold weapons. There is a huge disparity between damage output with gold vs purple weapons.

I've got some concerns about the way that towns were implemented, I've seen it taken advantage of in Haderus a few times, not yet in bwb, but admittedly I'm now in bwb as often.

I'm reluctant to say anything about it here, but I'm sure it will be common soon anyway. It's nothing that is exploiting or broken, it's totally fair play and mechanics. And if it becomes common, we'll all want to stop ignoring those towns when they get flagged.

purple weps and blue armor is enough.

There are two things I really hate about gaming:

1. installing updates
Eso updates has never once went smoothly, I always spend around an hour trying to get back into the game.

2. record game play
I am really freaking tired of Nvidia's shadowplay, and the stupid windows game recorder, and there is another 3rd party recorder I tried and it sucks too.

For the life of me I can not get any of them to work, I have been trying to record game play for the last year but always fail. Well Saturday I was determined to get it to work. After spending at least 4 hours trying to get to work i finally gave up again.

I wish the CEO of Nvdia played PvP .. I would dizzy swing spam him.

For some reason my recording only lasts 12 sec. At one point I thought I got the game bar working, it recorded 8 minutes, and then after that it went back to 12 sec. I thought I found a solution for Shadoplay, but the recording indicator has a freaking line across it, and won't record.

I really think who ever created the ESO grouping tool also works for Nvidia and made the shadowplay feature.

I had a really good fight Saturday, even though they killed me, I was so proud and was recording it. I went to watch it and only got 12 freaking second of me traveling to the fight.

Note: as you can see I get stressed out even discussing it.

I think players get frustrated and call "cheating" when they face enemies who have builds that counter their own hero's build much more often than they encounter someone who is actually cheating.

This game isn't exactly a rock-paper-scissors game but there are definitely builds that can almost completely nullify other builds.

There have been times when I was amazed at how well someone played their build but I've never had the feeling that someone was cheating if they beat me.

@mcurley , I 100% agree. That's why I'm extraordinarily cautious to say that someone's been cheating. Then again, I have been on the receiving end of DBoS --> DBoS hits from a single person. Showed up in my recap as DBoS + it's dot twice. That got a report pretty quickly.

def agree... theres only been a few ( can count them on my hand ) times where i've even remotely thought of the word "cheating" ... i usually just look at a loss and be like... ok what could i have done better ... and try to improve myself from there

This, 98 out of 100 times. Then 1% blatant cheats and 1% people who hack just enough to get a real edge. Did admin for years on a dedicated Call of Duty server for <KB> clan, even had the console set up to send me alerts if someone typed cheater, hacker, or admin into chat, and it was almost always someone who couldn't wrap their head around someone being good enough to beat them in almost any given situation; can't imagine that's any different here.

Also can't imagine that those other 2% aren't here as well, though I wouldn't know what to look for.

And haven't really gotten around to the towns yet, my play time has been pretty limited.

There have been a few times in BWB PVP that I have thought that perhaps a player was cheating, only to read about their build & how it works later & realise that it was legit. However those times were back when CP was allocated in BWB.

2 weekends ago though... I saw a player being attacked by 5 pact melee players (including myself) & getting hit over & over with cold fire ballista hits & take no damage, The player was a DK & just kept flapping his wings, which I thought was really odd because we were all attacking with melee attacks so the flapping wings seemed totally superfluous. I have no way to explain how he could take being hit with cold fire & not take damage & not have to be spamming heals or purging.

I didn't bother reporting... I just thought "well that sucks" & respawned & headed to another fight. I'm still mighty suspicious & will be looking out for the player if I ever see them again.

Town capture : I like it! So far, for me, they have made for some good small scale combat without siege... which is a nice change

Hmmmmmm... Can't say that I've encountered anyone who I knew for sure was cheating. A few who could have been, or could have been really good... Hard to say unless you really look at their build. Not sure I get enough play time in to be sure anyway. My main toon (created in Feb.) who I've had in BWB almost exclusively since lvl 10 only has 7.5 days of total play time....

Possibly or it could be one of those players who spent $$$,$$$ on his build. Anything is possible.

I kind of hate this game since learning that it is possible to cheat.
