Maintenance for the week of January 5:
• PC/Mac: No maintenance – January 5
• NA megaservers for maintenance – January 7, 4:00AM EST (9:00 UTC) - 10:00AM EST (15:00 UTC)
• EU megaservers for maintenance – January 7, 4:00AM EST (9:00 UTC) - 10:00AM EST (15:00 UTC)

So the maintenances take a full day now...

Why the hell they dont do it at night?

Its 2pm now most people are at work.

Oh ya mean most people except: Police, Doctors, Nurses, Care workers, Shift workers, Flight Attendants, Security Staff, and a whole boatload of other people who work nights?

I'm going to repeat what I said about five posts up: you literally can't please everyone.

The fact is that the majority of people work days. That's why banks, restaurants, stores, etc. all have the hours they do... to catch the hours when the majority of their customers are up and out. This is the exact same case when a game server goes down for maintenance or patch: they (usually) try to pick the best time for the most people. The rest just have to live with it, even though, yes, night workers do tend to get shafted in this sort of thing. It's one reason why working the night shift of any job stinks.

It doesn't matter though what MOST PEOPLE are doing.

There is no excuse for 8 hour maintenance with ZERO communication.

    That's why people are bent.

And to take the servers down for a longer time is not necessary at all - simply because for most players ESO works just fine. That is why we complain about other stuff like costumes and such - if we would have bigger issues, this would not be the thing to complain about - but for the most part it works fine and so we get to the other details like armor/costumes/crown store. At least on PC there are no bigger issues, if you are not into PvP - and the PvP crowd is a minority.

IMO the lag in Cyrrodil is not a technical problem at all - so it would not help to take the servers down. It would need a major change in the combat mechanics, which ZOS will most likely never attempt - so don't hope for major changes in this.

Well, we are on the right track though.
We're aiming at a week long maintenance.

What's more annoying is that i was like "Oh ESO is having maint, i think i'll hop on SWTOR and check out the latest storyline quest... Damn it! that's having maint as well!.... Oh well... i shall use this time to go out down the shop.. Curse you outside! it's just started raining too!"

    First world problems indeed.

People aren't bent - just a few nerds are, who are heavily addicted. But it shows "complete" now, so all is good, I guess.

I absolutely agree that 8 hours with no communication is bad. I work in communications, so yes, I know that you need to keep your customers informed, and I do think ZOS is awful at that.

But I also know that server maintenance is not just waving your wand and calling it done. If the servers were down that long, there was probably a reason, They want their players in the game and buying Crown store items, so if they could, they'd get the servers back up ASAP.

So the long server times were probably unavoidable, which means that, yes, the people who can play at non-peak times get shafted. No one can help that.

It's the lack of communication that can be helped. That's what people should be targeting in their protests here, imo. Not the maintenance time itself.
