be wary of 3rd party chat pads i got one for my xbox once that looked basically just like that but with the xbox controller but when i got it it did not fit snug with my controller and fell out pretty often

ending up just buying the official one

I doubt there will be Trade and LFG channels.at least in PC there is only zone,which everybody uses for trade and lfg,which I think is enough.What I would like in the future,for pc and console is a global channel,thats a channel that covers the whole game landmass so you can go anywhere and still see the messages of ppl lfg

a world chat i could see them adding with one tamriel as like a 2nd chat tab switch between zone and world. That way people who dont want all that chatter can still talk in zone or you can click on the world tab and get your stuff out there for sale that would be cool.

Yea you have a point. I guess something is better than nothing. Can PC make their own private text channel (like one for like 4 friends and no one else)? Or is that not a thing?

Also is there a makeshift way to cross faction chat on PC or no?

you can cross faction in guild or group chat i imagine after tamriel one this will be a thing to

Thanks for the shots of how it looks. I can't say I would be a fan of it. I don't text chat much, like yahoo or AOL instant messenger, for example. There are so many people typing, so the text goes fast and not so easy to read or track. So, I'm thinking, with so many players typing, it could be similar. I don't know.. could just be an annoyance for me having that on the screen, especially where the text box is currently at. Unless you're able to move it, I would probably move the box to the upper left or right.

Can anyone confirm or deny if typing in the commands for emotes will work? I am on console and that would make my life a lot easier in regards to finding and using emotes not on my quick wheel.

Agree, on consoles we should simply be able to hit enter (if we have a keyboard connected) and then be able to enter text. This having to go in via the menu is silly...

Both when you have a keyboard connected, and if you want to use on screen keyboard/smartphone.

Yes, you will be able to just type in an emote command into the text chat window.

Yep, you'll be able to turn it off if you'd like. It's not mandatory to use.

1. There is no PTS for the consoles, so what are they going to test on?
2. The Console UI is available on the PC for controller users, so why not test it there?

You guys got that off the bat because they "expected" that to be what most players would use, but instead most began wailing about Text chat.

i dont know how many thread there were here on the forums from console players wanting or not wanting text chat, but i do know as someone who is quite active in PvP, dungeons & trails, and know a lot of FT players on xbox EU, (from all aliances) that i can only think of 1 person who wanted chat to be introduced, and about 30 people who do not want it, the fact that it can be switched off though is in my opinion the best of both worlds.
