For console ppl here is how text chat works! For those not on PTS. now with pictures!

so its not like pc where you hit a button and enter a little chat box on the bottom left. You have to hit start go into the social tab and in there is a text chat option or after update 11 you can hit start then X to go directly to text chat as right now hitting start then X takes you to quick emotes after update 11 it takes you to console text chat. Once in there you hit A to start typing then when your done hit X to send. now when playing in the world chat does just pop up in a little chat box in the bottom left but to answer or respond you do have to hit start and go to that text chat tab. Just making this i have not seen any description of how text chat work for console. Also wanted to note i think its funny how the console text chat is on the PC PTS for them to test. XD

i know that you can link item into chat by clicking Y or triangle to go to options where you would find the charge or repair options the link to chat is in there i will have to test for quest next time i am on0 -

when your in the start menu chat box yes it cover the entire screen if your in the world roaming around a little text chat box like pc appears when ppl talk but to respond or talk back you do have to go to the full screen window1 -

i would imagine so as seeing on xbox as long as the keyboard pops up on the screen i can use my phone. i am not 100% on how it works on ps41 -

Agreed they are not so different, but for console players to test it, they would also have to have access to the pts on pc. its not that bad it is a lil annoying to have to stop what your doing for a sec but other then that its the same as typing in the little box hit start hit X or SQUARE start typing then go back to playing you can see all the responses in the little chat box while you play you only have to open the full screen one to respond or talk your selfEdited by hamburgerler76 on July 12, 2016 8:03AM0 -

you had to see this coming, when you text on your Phone it does the same thing, consoles are not designed with Keyboards in mind initially so how would the Controller users navigate Texting just using the chat windowpane and their Controller??2 -

Text chat is functional, easily accessible, window is resizeable (definitely does not default to full screen). Granted, using the virtual keyboard does cause a bigger overlay to appear....but really, if you're going to make use of text chat who wouldn't get the chat pad or a keyboard?

With all due respect, it's not about what you "expect" other people to do. For example, they added Voice chat to consoles which we (PC) have to use a third party program to get in the first place. You guys got that off the bat because they "expected" that to be what most players would use, but instead most began wailing about Text chat.
