Heard from a guy in my guild the other day that armor/weapons were gonna be getting an increase to the level cap (cp160 to cpxxx). Is this true? If so what should I be doing? Farming the hell out of gold? Will there be new material? Literally made me reevaluate my characters time in game

Not anytime soon. Maybe when Vvadernfell comes.

There will most likely be a new type of ore when this happens, so saving mats may be pointless

Yes. Even if they do increase the cap it wont be any time soon and as others here mentioned it will most likely feature new type of mats for it

Next update will allow you to apply 30 more champion points to your characters but the CP Gear cap will remain at CP160.

They said they're raising the cap by 30 points, they didn't say anything about raising the items.

ZOS announces no more big DLC, people still say Vvadernfell.

Considering armor cap is CP160 and champion point cap is 501, about to become 531, this statement doesn't make sense. We have no idea how Zos plans to increase weapon and armor levels compared to CP cap.

For the OP the a see is not with the next DLC. Armor snd weapons will remain the same. Only the CP cap for his many points we can use is being incressed. It is being increased by 30 points.

I heard they are going to raise the max level to CR180 in the near future but couldn't tell ya when. Dig around for more info if ya like.

Could just be a rumor though.

Have you ever heard the NPC in the game say, "The biggest liar in all of Tamriel is 'they say'." I remember that because it rings so true, people love to say all sorts of things that 'they've heard' but in the end, unless you can find an exact quote by a ZOS rep or dev, then it's likely not true.

I thought I had a lot of mats saved to outfit my extra 4 characters when DB hit and they became able to wear end game gear... But I was oh so wrong.

So now I am saving all gold upgrade materials till I have enough to make all my characters fully legendary... Then I wont use those... But instead upgrade from whatever I gather after exceeding that amount. This way when a change does happen I will have at least the upgrade mats ready, even if I still have to farm the ore/cloth/wood.

Eventually change will happen. When? Probably a long time, or as ZOS would say "soon". In the meantime though if someone presents you with another rumor, just ask them to show you a link. There are so many false rumors passed in this game as "truth" we really should have a pinned Snopes type of thread.

Even if they raised the gear cap in the next patch, it wouldn't make the actual endgame gear obsolete because it is already too powerfull for the majority of actual content.

Just do your crafting writs every day and farm up on:

- Tempering Alloys
- Kuta
- Rosin

Make sure you have a good supply of those so that if/when the cap gets raised, you can still make Purple Gear with Kuta Enchants and Legendary Weapons and Shields. That's all you need rlly

The item level cap will raise for sure, it's an MMO so there has to be some kind of item progression.

Personally I'd like it if ZOS do an item cap increase once per year, with their "big" DLC.

i doubt it that there will be new mats , just take a look on the increase from 150 to 160. Costs are tenfold so maybe for the next tier of gear we have to bring in 200 mats instead of 130 - but of the same kind. That´s my speculation

ZOS hasn't really made it clear to everyone, but CP level cap and Armour level cap are two different and unconnected things.

You can keep raising your CP cap (in this case by 30 CP's in next DLC) but stay with the same 160 armour, or you can keep the CP cap as is and raise the armour level to 170/180.

Through someone else's (not mine so I do not try to claim credit for it) data mining, 180 Armour and mats have already been found in game...sorry I cannot link the forum post as I don't have it but have a look around and I am sure you will find it.

So yes, it is coming...but we don't know when.

They are increasing the CP Cap by 30 but gear will remain at 160 CP Cap. Kinda like it is right now.
