ZOS HAS GONE BAN CRAZY!!! GOD HELP US ALL!!

EDIT--- P.S. : remember no one discuss any personal disciplinary action. ZOS is just waiting for an excuse to close this thread.

so.. it appears ZOS has gone a little ban crazy lately. this is partly due to us, but it's mainly all ZOS's fault. i'll explain: so back when cheating was going on ZOS would ban no one. the reason for this is quite simple, their a company trying to maximize their profits and realize that even those cheating with cheat engine still pay for DLCs, new content, and often sub. money is good no matter who it comes from, cheaters and non-cheaters alike.

so the next event comes along.. -- the cheat engine epidemic blows up, and everything becomes aware of it. people also become aware of ZOS's inaction to ban people, and they start unsubbing. they also take screen caps of their unsub and share it to get others to join in, resulting in more unsubs. now ZOS is losing money and is in the tight corner of either having to ban cheaters to keep good players subbing, or let the good players unsub and keep the cheaters money.

next, what do they decide to do? they decide to try and get the best of both pies. like having their cake... and eating it too. they decide to announce that they perma-banned plenty of cheat engine cheaters, and release a number like (42 perma-bans i think it was)? that was their PR stunt to get all the good players to resub and keep any good players from unsubbing. it was only a PR stunt. then few weeks later once the hype died down a little bit they decided to unban some of those that were perma-banned, and start getting that cheater money again too.

now where at a situation now where ZOS decides to pretend to take cheating seriously, "perma-ban" people as their PR stunt, and then unban them later. and they decide to use this trick to ban anyone that does any sort of glitch now. for example, now ZOS goes straight to banning those that did the gap closer glitch, (even though many of them didn't even know it was a glitch), in order to do their PR stunt to say "ZOS takes cheating very seriously."

now many people are victims to ZOS's excessive PR stunt bans, and they have gone ban crazy. they are going ban crazy on all these innocent people now just to say "we take cheating very seriously." most likely everyone will end up getting an unban later anyway, but it still sucks for many of us that have to deal with their stupid bans just in order for them to pretend that "they take cheating very seriously."

anyway this is just my theory of what's going on now and why they did what they did. you guys can tell me your opinions.

In most (if not all) MMOs I played, glitch exploiting was a bannable offense. Granted, I'm a MMO veteran and the only two "modern" MMOs I've played was this one and GW2.

Did it stop being a thing on newer MMOs or something?
Just so that everyone knows, my Altmer still can't have black hair. About a dozen of Altmer NPCs in the game have black hair. Just saying.

    Meet my characters:
    Command: Do the thing.

Zadarri, Khajiit Fist of Thalmor: The thing was done, as commanded.
Durza gra-Maghul, Orc blacksmith: The thing was done perfectly, in the most efficient way.
Tegwen, Bosmer troublemaker: You can't prove I didn't do the thing.
Sings-Many-Songs, Argonian fisher: Sure, I'll do the thing... Eventually. Maybe.
Aerindel, Altmer stormcaller: After extensive research, I've come to the conclusion that doing the thing would be a waste of resources.
Liliel, Dunmer pyromancer: Aerindel said I shouldn't do the thing. Something about "resources".
Gyda Snowcaller, Nord cryomancer: I will find a way to do it that won't waste resources and make Aerindel proud of me.
Beatrice Leoriane, Breton vampire: I persuaded someone else into doing the thing. You are welcome, dear.
Sahima, Redguard performer: Doing the thing sounds awfully unpleasant and really not my problem.
Ellaria Valerius, Imperial priestess: I'll pray to the Eight for the thing to be done, if it is Their will.

Ban them all ZoS. Make it lifetime.

People complain when ZOS "does nothing". People complain when ZOS "does something" but not to their liking. I have no remorse for those who are banned. If ZOS deems it necessary, I think it's their prerogative to do so. If you have done nothing, you have nothing to fear. Especially if the anti-cheat program glitches somehow in some mysterious way and bans you, I'm sure you could still make a case to be unbanned if you are innocent.

you do realize you can use a gap closer and the glitch can happen *unintentionally*, right? and your reading comprehension is off. let me break it down nice and simple for you. zos perma bans you as a PR stunt to pretend like they take cheating seriously, when they really don't. then they unban people. do you understand that?

Banning people who done the gap closer glitch is dumb ZOS

Most players don't go on the forums, so they didn't know it was an exploit. Besides it wasn't even that bad.

I've been in guilds with lots of folks from other countries whose primary language is not English. Every single one of them always worried that their English, written and spoken, was horrible. The truth though was that their English was always a hell of a lot better than a whole lot of people whose only language is English. You know why I think it's always so good? They care, unlike so many if the people who are native English speakers.

It doesn't? Maybe you should read your own messages, and I quote: "for example, now ZOS goes straight to banning those that did the gap closer glitch, (even though many of them didn't even know it was a glitch), in order to do their PR stunt to say "ZOS takes cheating very seriously." Seems to me that you made this an example for a reason.

As far as cheating goes and claiming innocence, the prisons are full of people who all claim they are innocent :) ZOS probably has a lot of things they can look at to tell if someone is actually cheating. And if they were wrongly banned, there is an appeal process. I have to believe that if someone can explain to a ZOS representative the circumstances of what happened, they can check to see if you are telling the truth. It doesn't take rocket science to check the logs and look at your character stats at the time of the incident to find out what happened.

This is probably the worst interpretation you can have about cheating and ZOS policy. Cheat tolerance is much more severe for the company since it discourages people from playing the game and from trusting they will have a fair ground if they decide to play. The company has a lot to lose with complacency to cheaters and they know it, they just can't ban for life and get a thousand appeals the next day without further proof and strong evidence, obtainable usually by in-depth scans and logs, and those are quite tedious and staff/time-consuming.

i have heared of people (person A) being temporarily banned (for a few hours) following a spur of reports of aparent cheating, and once fully investigated it turned out the people reporting person A were the ones cheating, and the ban was lifted from person A (who had not been cheating), and the people who reported them were themselves banned.

The 8 divines cannot save you. Maybe Clavicus Vile could but he's not in the game enough to care about your opinion. Your only option would be to pray to Khajiit... or the god of ZOS, whichever Daedra they chose.

This one shakes the head at the fact that people moaned when ZOS were not taking action. Now people are moaning when ZOS takes action. Khajiit may have missed something while checking the pockets of the people in Vulkel Guard but be happy ZOS is actually taking action. It's not like you have to really worry unless you are cheating/exploiting.

Posts like this are largely pointless and only serving to inflame others both for and against. The sooner this post is locked and confined to the trash, the better
