I love The Elder Scrolls Online I really do, you can tell just from how many hours I've spent in this game and the money I've invested into it £138 excluding the game itself but lately I'm starting to wonder why I bother because I've been putting up with lag and really bad frame rate issues for nearly 8 months, ever since the Orsinium DLC I can't run through city's without having the games loading screen pop up at least 3 times or my character looking like he is in a blender glitching all over the place and even sometimes it just crashes or kicks me off to the dashboard.

lately its become so bad that the NPC's are invisible for at least 10-20 seconds, this applies to enemy NPC's too so as you can imagine getting killed off invisible enemy's can be rather annoying don't you think? I have contacted the support team and the support they offer me is laughable, they suggest I reset me router or clear my system cashe or reinstall the game... its frustrating to be given such poor support and I have recently messaged them again only to receive a copy and paste from the last guy who I was in talks with.

I don't want to make a big deal out of this I just want to be able to enjoy the game so underneath I will list all my performance issues and hopefully someone can detect what the problem is and offer me a solution :)

Extreme lag.
Frame rate issues.
It seems worse whilst on a mount sprinting.
Sound stuttering during the frame rate issues.
The game freezing then kicking me off to the dashboard.
NPC's take more then 10-20 seconds to become visible even enemy ones.
Other real players appear as black silhouettes for a while.
Viewing the map is also very laggy.
Random loading screens where there shouldn't be.
Sometimes really long loading times.
Textures don't load

I am on Xbox One and the European server. My internet is 50mbps and these issues listed only happen on TESO not on any other game and I currently can't load up the game any more because I am in wrothgar so I physically cant even play the game any more.

Platform? Server? Where are you playing from?

Submit a ticket or PM an admin here to get your Wrothgar character moved. Although this week's patch is supposed to have fixed the issue (I've no idea if it has or hasn't) that's not for characters already stuck there and they will need to be moved by ZOS.

The black silhouettes when you enter an area are both intentional and desirable, they were introduced at the request of PvPers who were being jumped by characters that didn't appear immediately when entering an area, although from a PvE perspective I prefer it the way it was as they rather spoil my "immurshun"!

I can't comment on the rest of your problems as I've never encountered them, but check out the technical support forum for your platform and see if anyone can assist.

That is exactly what I thought too but they haven't fixed a damn thing, this is the second patch in the space of about 3 weeks, they took the servers offline for about 8 hours both times and upon reading the patch notes they have changed a lot but absolutely nothing relating to the invisible NPC's or the stupid loading screens we have to deal with. As I mentioned I have contacted them many many times but they give me dreadful support... I am on Xbox one on the European server

It has nothing to do with immersion, kid. The silhouettes wouldn't be so bad if they didn't last for upward of ten minutes in any given city.

Yup.. loading screen pops up a lot. Not just in Orsinium, but elsewhere in Wrothgar and other areas in Tamriel, particularly also in the Gold Coast in the areas near the Sanctuary and Hew's Bane's Abah Landing. Hate it when the loading screen pops up when you're in the middle of a fight or you're trotting along on your horse and bamm! you run into the loading screen. Yes, the invisible enemies and takes some seconds later for them to show or when you just getting into an area and the lag of NPCs populating. The NPCs' name is there, but they're invisible until they spawn some seconds later. Also, the players' characters still in the blacked-out silhouettes every time you just wayshrined into an area or going through a door/entranceway and again some seconds later for the actual looks of the characters to show. Not really a show stopper, but more annoyance than anything.

They only last a few seconds for me, and for many people it is to do with immersion in that in PvE areas it's less immersion-breaking to have a few invisible players you're not interacting with anyway rather than a few black silhouettes running around.

On a point of information, if you feel the need for a term with which to address me, "old chap" would be more appropriate in my case than "kid" !

That's great for you, but for the majority of the console users, silhouettes last much, much longer. If you paused from White Knighting and read the forums, you'd know this is a common complaint.

Actually, I was trying to berate you a bit since you felt the need to berate others, which was evident from your spelling of the word "immersion." I could care less how old you are, since I just might be older than you.

They are black silhouettes because the game can't load them, same with the NPC's the game seems to be in utter shambles when it comes to loading the textures of the game or the frame rates become so choppy and nauseous, they are doing nothing to fix it I'm sorry to say because lets face it, if they could fix it it would be done by now, the wrothgar problems have been here since October, I dread handing in my crafting writs because I know I have to battle to get through wrothgar :S

I couldn't even care less about the silhouettes to be frank. Give me black silhouettes all day every day if the cities would stop stuttering and popping in load screens every 10 seconds.

All of those issues (the increasingly long time we see silhouettes, the lag, and the stuttering) are related.

Lighten up fellow pensioner, lighten up. I wasn't berating anyone (I'm as keen on immersion as anyone as I made clear in dislike of the black silhouettes, it's just become a joke on this forum to misspell it and I did put it in quotes for that reason), I was just answering those issues I'd encountered and offering advice to the OP on how to approach resolving the others.

I can appreciate that the console version is having some problems at the moment, but of course at the time I wrote my original comment the OP hadn't edited his post to inform us which platform (and server) he was on.

Lighten up? I wish I could. On the contrary, I am angry. I am angry at having paid a monthly subscription for a defective product. I am angry at myself for not cancelling my subscription months ago because I believed ZOS when it said that fixes were on the way. I am angry that customer "support" has been far less than "supportive." I am angry that ZOS, through customer support and employees on the forums, continue the copy /paste advice: power cycle your console, walk slowly through town, wait a while before moving when you've wayshrined in at Orsinium.

I am sad for your anger but at the same time I am happy because I now see that I am not the only one furious with this game and the laughable support we receive. I have spent a grand total of £200 on this game, this includes DLC, ESO membership and of course the game itself, now I know I wont be able to get a refund for the game itself but I am going to try very hard to get a refund for the £140 I have spent on in game content which as it stands I can't even play! I feel I am well within my rights to ask for a refund at this point.

Maybe we should start a support group. lol

I opened a ticket a while back, outlining the issues and asking for a refund of my sub fee or some other form of compensation for being sold a defective product. I told them that I honestly did not care what the compensation was because all I wanted was a tangible expression acknowledging my frustration and that they wronged me. I received two replies, both of which were copy/paste responses telling me to power cycle my xbox, close all the apps, etc. Neither response engaged my request for compensation.

I hope it works out better for you.

I do not suffer from most of these issues strangly. I have been a sub since the launch of ESO and i continue to sub to the game. I understand where you are coming from but stuff such as the npcs taking time to load could be a hardware issue and not the game its self.

Not likely since this is common complaint on the console tech forums.

    I assume you're on PC ?
you mean a hardware like a console , X1 and ps4 at the same time ?

I think it's because the implementation of the latest and/or previous updates , game changes with every update and I think it's a difficult thing to manage on an online game with massive server .
Maybe there should be a PTS on consoles as well , i mean updates are tested on pc but with the latest DB problems seem to be on consoles .
In meantime they are aware of these issues you mention in your post and i hope they'll fix it somehow a bit , i'm also affected and refuse to go on with the game in this state . There's no fun in trying to get from point A to B only , for me unplayable

First world problems bro. Take a chill pill lmao.

They only last a few seconds for me, and for many people it is to do with immersion in that in PvE areas it's less immersion-breaking to have a few invisible players you're not interacting with anyway rather than a few black silhouettes running around.

That's great for you, but for the majority of the console users, silhouettes last much, much longer. If you paused from White Knighting and read the forums, you'd know this is a common complaint.

On a point of information, if you feel the need for a term with which to address me, "old chap" would be more appropriate in my case than "kid" !

As a, non-desktop/console, developer, I can see things with different eyes.

My PC is good, but it's not a rocket. Several components already have their 4 years, but the major culprit in all of it, it's the hard-disk, that's still an old SATA unit instead of a super fast SSD.

My point is, if something that exists physically on the disk and is taking too much time to load it's because that component is not fully functional, your PC needs a reinstallation of OS... anyway, all of the basic things we, "pseudo-technicians", do ourselves BUT, from the POV of a developer, I can tell that the problem is not always 100% of the time fault of the hardware.

The Filesystem itself of any OS is, by definition, slow. That's why several competent developers, desktop, web or mobile, cache a lot of stuff. More than logic, it's simple math: if you need to read 10 things to do X and this takes Y seconds, if you cache 10 things into one file, that you'll read only once (per instance, of course), even if you have to parse the contents of this one thing that might be encoded in some sort of algorithm, you'll have the same task performed in Y-10 seconds

And unless very well hidden and/or created in a non-orthodox way, I don't see ESO caching anything else other than the shades/shadows/whatever.

Doesn't excuse lashing out at those not related to your problem though. Whenever I get angry my mood may be rather putrid but I take nothing out on anyone that didn't fuel my fire.

The only thing that could remotely be considered as "lashing out" at Tandor is my use of the term "Kid." I explained why I did it. He explained why he wrote what he did. We moved on. The conversation changed. You're bringing it back up.

I was speaking in general, not for that one discussion only lol nevertheless though my point still stands.

Exactly the same issues on PS4 EU, pretty certain they are all symptoms of network latency server side

This annoying thing is since the beginning. Everytime ZOS begin to explain of router configuration etc etc... I'm cable connected with high speed connection. I've sent so many /bug reports. And they redirect always to your provider plus they advice to Open Ports which are closed by default per country.... I guess they use a template as "solution". Not a good feeling with having "Support".
Other games are indeed not impacted with this low FPS rate and lag high latency.

Platform?

I'm xb1 EU and I've noticed a huge performance increase after the latest patch.

if it takes 10 minutes for NPCs to load, it snot a ZOS problem. its more than likely a ping problem or processing problem on your end. sure there are some issues here and there, but nothing like that. i would want to know what kind of internet serrvie you have, download speed/etc and what kind of pc you are playing on, ememory, graphics card and such

i also recommend going into your ESO files and finding the 64.exe file, and making a short cut. load the game with the 64 clioent it will play much smoother. i usually get 40-70 fps. you will only need the main launcher for downloading patches.
