Zenimax Online Studios: writ nerf?

Zenimax quietly "nerfed" the writ rewards since this latest patch. The price for materials is increasing steadily and now it will not be worth it to do writs for a possible chance of getting something meaningful. Shame on you, little scuttlers.

Just got a tempering alloy awhile ago... then a dreugh wax.... then I got into my mail and I got another tempering alloy, and another dreugh wax...

Ohh right and a Kuta from the mail...

Did this actually happen or are you upset about bad RNG luck? If it did happen, is there evidence?

I do writs every day. I have not noticed a nerf. Getting gold mats, heck I even got part of the psijic ambrosia (sp?) recipe this weekend from a cooking writ.

Got 2 Kuta and 1 Rosin from writs today

Used the Kuta to enchant this Arcane Ring and Necklace of Willpower I found from the final boss from Gold (ran it 2x)

Oh, and I've also found a Divines Light Malubeth Helm and Heavy Infused Kena Helm too during farm runs

My RNG did get good the moment I bought that goat

Every system is. Scarcity is what makes an item valuable. RNG systems enable players to get loot more frequently while also allowing certain variations to be scarce and therefore have value.

In games with token systems, the same players complaining about RNG are complaining about slow rewards.

In games where everything is easily obtainable, players are bored and unsatisfied.

What everyone truly wants is for an item to be both valuable and easy for them to obtain--because if it was easily obtainable for everyone, it would cease to have value.

I prefer token systems myself, but there are no perfect systems.

Writs where cut by at least half.

I easily do all 6 writs on 1 character and not get a single temper.

That have never happened before DB!

Thanks for the confirmation. I do about 20-25
Write a day. I actually thought that following the patch the rates had been buffed slightly and last week it felt like a bit of a nerf. But alas, that is RNG. It's easy to forget when it was good and dwell on it when it's bad.

I did 8 characters full of writs and did not get a single upgrade material. I don't think I have ever had "badluck" such as that in this game, but if @ZOS_GinaBruno says nothing changed in that regard... well, okay. I'll see what tomorrow yields.

I did all writs 4 days in a row with one character and did not get a Survey of any kind.
I refined 40 rebedite ore and got 3 temp alloys. This happened twice in in a 2 day span.

It is all RNG fun!

My daily writs are done by 1 character a day in all 6 crafts. What do I tend to get? Well...


Alchemy: Nothing really diverse here, just whether you get a survey or not. Honestly, I don't mind not getting surveys...

Provisioning: Worst RNG of them all. More than half the time I get the basic 5 (Ingredient) 5 (Ingredient) 10 (Ingredient) 10 (Ingredient) and a green recipe. Once in awhile I get a blue recipe instead. I've seen Bervez Juice and Frost Mirriam involved more than getting a blue recipe. Haven't gotten a single purple recipe or Psijic Ambrosia Fragment in at least 2 months now... I have a thread in the Crafting forum regarding the potential ninja nerf of Psijic Ambrosia Fragments or even Provisioning Writs in general I would like Zenimax to look over to make sure if it happened or not because considering I used to get purple recipes and fragments once upon a time and don't anymore with this same method of writ-completion it's definitely fishy.

Enchanting: I get my fair share of Kutas.

Blacksmithing, Clothing, and Woodworking: Get my fair share of their legendary materials as well, and the occasional Glass Motif Fragment as well as the oft-times Grand Repair Kit.


Are writs in general nerfed? No. Not getting any goods? You're just unlucky. However, I stand by my belief that Provisioning has suffered, even if unintended, a ninja nerf.

Provisioning does seem to have been nerfed, I seem to get purple ingredients a lot less and so far yet to get a decent recipe.

I thought this was a nerf in response to being able to purchase a lot of the recipes, so a little surprised to see its just bad luck.

It's best to add some hint of details to claims such as these.

I've been receiving a decent amount of gold matts from writs and have seen others state their seems to be an increase in gold matts we receive since DB.

I'm thinking that 8 characters worth of writs is not a significant sample size to rule out bad RNG. Any given day, you might get 0 or 30+ upgrade mats from those writs. After 100 or so, preferably more, then you can start to see some statistically significant numbers.

My RNG has been horrible since DB dropped, I do all my writs daily on my main and will get no surveys and no gold items more often than not.
