Everybody insists that all shields scale off of health...why?

Most abilities scale off of the resource used to cast them. Why does it have to be the exact opposite with shields? I agree that shields that scale off of health are necessary for tanks, but why is everybody so against a shield scaling off of magicka or stamina?

Somebody so much as suggests bone shield scaling off of stamina, everybody flips their s and starts screaming "NO, THAT'S TOO OP!"

I mean come on, with things as they are, it's set up so that only tanks are even capable of benefitting from shields. Healers and DPS that rely on magicka and stamina only get a tiny shield that can hardly block anything.

In my opinion, reducing the duration and preventing people from stacking them up was enough. Give stamina players bone shield back, and give one to the magicka dudes as well.

Is just one shield for the other two resources too much to ask?

    Agreed. People suggested me to use Harness Magicka in Cyrodiil since Radiant Ward/Blazing Shield is useless for us magicka users, and yet Harness Magicka is even more useless in Cyrodiil. Even sacrificing most of your champion points on Bastion to absorb a few more thousand is still pointless as people hit like trucks either way.

    I'm a magicka Templar who just might have to use Shuffle instead. :smile:

    Not long before DB, I complained about the lack of stamina-based heals, and how vigor doesn't work under heavy fire situations due to the fact that it's over time and not burst.

    Someone suggested I use Bone Shield as my heal as apparently it would scale off of Stamina in DB. DB comes around, it still scales off of health, everyone's saying "good riddance, it was OP anyway". Wth?

    All defense should scale with health, so nobody could go full offense and still have no penalty in defense.

    In the first patch notes bone shield was supposed to scale from stamina, but I think they scrapped that idea during the PTS.

    Although, I'm not entirely sure what you're complaining about, there are shields that scale from
    Health, and scale from Magicka, and while stamina doesn't exactly have a shield as such, they have other means of defence, such as shuffle and dodge rolling?

    The thing is stamina has already so much survival with dodge rolls, shuffle and vigor+rally. If you give them a good shield to there is no killing stamina people anymore.

    Those complaining want shields to be based on Health because Shields can't be critical hit in PvP and that makes shields 'too op', even if shields don't have armor or magic resistance values and take the raw damage of everything cast against them.

    Of course if you suggest any self heals should also scale from Health, those same people whining about shields will start flipping tables.

    It is a bit crazy that putting points into offensive stats increases your defense.
    P2P offered you 'hell yeah!' moments. F2P offers you 'thank god its over' moments.
