Assuming I play a couple hours a day (about my average over a week), to go from 1-50, get the skill points from silver and gold, get MG/FG 10, undaunted 9 and alliance skill lines to 10 would probably take about 2-3 months. I don't grind or use a lot of XP pots, and most of the PvP I do is solo, but I imagine it could be done in about 1 month with all XP boosts and access to organized PvE and PvP groups.

Until I master the class in both pvp and pve (mostly pvp). My first was a sorc, and after I felt completely in control I moved on to a stamblade. Now that I feel completely in control of that, I'm trying out a stam DK.

Well, I've been playing since June 2014 and still haven't maxed PVP skill line sooooo.... Infinity?

Joking aside everything else took me about 1 year exactly on one character to max all skills and morphs in every weapon/armor/craft etc. And hit VR16

Then it took me till just this last April to finish my Trait Research.

But keep in mind I was that guy in Coldharbour for a week before leaving cause I was exploring every friggin nook and cranny. Then on to Kenarthi's Roost and that was just ridiculous.

OK, I never need to recreate a character I already have.

So, I don't need to chase the Achievements, I don't need to complete all or even any of the quests, I don't need to find all the skyshards and I don't need to level all of my skills. I only need my Armor skills, Class Skills, 2 (maybe even only 1) weapon skill, Racial Skills and some passives from the Guilds. I don't need Achievements, I don't need to craft, I don't need to do the Main Quest, the Fighters or the Mages Guild Quest Lines.

All I need to do is get to L50 with all my armor skills, my class skills, my weapon skills and racial passives up to snuff. I can get there in about 20 to 30 hours, and that is if I fart around. Be this grinding or doing quests or a combo. Might take a bit longer for the Undaunted stuff, but that all depends on how fast I can find groups.

Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.

sadly, these are real responses. This was a post sort of arguing against the many posters in other threads who keep telling people to 'shut up and reroll' when they mention the upcoming racial change in crown store(which I agree with, it DOES seem like a cash grab)

Most of these pro-*** say one can max out a character in a single sitting. Sadly getting to 50 is about 1/100th the real journey. They KNOW this yet refuse to acknowledge it.

You and I mean different things by "reroll."

To me, "reroll" simply means to start over; not play a new toon all the way up to end-game.

This question is really all subjective...

Some may want to re-roll to compete better in PvP - which would really only need to be L50 w/ enough skill points for their desired skills and undaunted. Usually these players have no issue leveling up PvP lines, it depends on the player.

Some want to re-roll for RP reasons (not necessarily RP, but anything thats not based solely around min-maxing) - this usually means they want to create another "completionist" type character.. All quests, lorebooks, skyshards, silver, gold, undaunted, guilds etc... Which will definitely take longer than the latter.

Moral of the story, just as people who say "re-roll scrub!" have no reason to call you a scrub for a different method, you really have no reason to call out those who tell you to re-roll for also having a different method than yourself.

You are comparing creating a new 'main' character with creating an alt.

    These are completely different things.

If you want a new 'main' character with all the things that are not account wide, well that sucks for you, but it will take you as long as it takes you really.

The term re-roll typically is accepted to mean grinding a character out in 10-12 hours to get an effective character build. This will not be a min-max build of course you will need the time for undaunted, but there are plenty of people in PvP that don't even have undaunted anyway.

Those that are suggesting you re-roll are simply telling you to grab the FoTM class and get it to where you can cheese your way through things, not to recreate your epic RP master angler.
Tl;dr really weigh the fun you have in game vs the business practices you are supporting.

I will trade your Lore Books for Sky Shards any day.

I must have Max Crafting for Writs and Hirelings on them all.

Also must be able to complete their "build".

I can do Lore Books easy peasy. Skyshards can require you running though a Delve. Gah...

I tend to not do all my alts undaunted since it's tedious :disappointed:

So I pvp till either vigor for stam chars or prox det for magicka

Then I just get enough skyshards, dungeons ( group & public ) and quest ( for skill points ) for enough passives and actives that I have EVERYTHING ready I could possibly want for that char ( all class, racial, at least 2 weapons and at least 2 guild trees all maxed )

And then I gear them up ( one or 2 sets / char

Will do the undaunted thing eventually ( when I get time )

I have never leveled undaunted with any character. No patience for that.

Been collecting skyshards, lorebooks and leveling fighter's guild with a few characters that were just boosted to max level following DB update. This takes about a couple days. Leveling a brand new character to 50 in Cyrodiil seems to take about a week or two.

So far it doesn't seem necessary to do any skill point quests at all, even for stamina builds. I end up with around 200 skill points just from skyshards, public dungeon challenge and PVP ranks.

I did need to get up to around 300 skill points for crafter character, though.

Except that why would you want to recreate a main character ? Why on earth would you want to do that ? You already have the main who finished most stuff in the game. So why would you do all the quests on an alt ? Only the main quest is kinda good to do on every char, and maybe Mages' and Fighters' guild quests.

Skyshards take maybe a couple of hours, lorebooks the same. Levelling fighters guild takes some grinding but not that hard. Levelling to 50 is a breeze. Thats all you really need to get to make most builds viable. Levelling alchemy to 50 for pot duration takes like 30 minutes if you've gathered enough mats and have enough waters.

You probably only need to take your Alliance skill lines to 5 or 6 for Vigor and Caltrops, maybe to 7 if you want magic detonation. I don't know how long this would take

Undaunted takes ages true, but its a couple of weeks at most I'd say.

You're looking at 2 weeks if you take your time. If you're a completionnist, thats your problem if it takes you ages.

Race change isn't a money grab. Before it was introduced, everyone was doing fine.

Oh wow... I would've said about 2 weeks. This includes 1-50, Fighters Guild, and a good amount of skill points. Mages Guild is another week alone.

19 days of playtime? Not really up to par with Ffastyl on skill points and line ranks either, but enough to be used as a main when necessary. Takes closer to 50 days to match Ffastyl.

Who does all the quests? Only on my first character do I do everything or close to it. The others collect only what they need, non magicka builds don't bother with Lore books and I fill out enough skill shards for maxing crafts for hirelings. I only get the skills they actually use and swaps for different situations, no fluff they will never use. While my top 2 level 50's have over 250 skill points, the other 5 level 50's aren't past 200 skill points each. I don't even have Undaunted maxed out on my most played character, highest is rank 7; highest PvP is at rank 6 on one character, and rank 2 for everyone else just to get Rapid Maneuver.

Well yeah, I was on vacation back then :p

I did 1.5 zones each day, while lvling Legerdemain and crafting as I went. Usually I reach 50 in each crafting skill when I'm at Malabal Tor (Silver 4th zone)

And then the extra days needed to get to Undaunted 9 and Enchanting 50... it was around 3 weeks back then

To be fair, those who reroll will not redo every quest, collect every shard, or level every skill line. Also... what do you gain by doing every quest every time you make a new character? Absolutely nothing. Same goes for collecting every skyshard. Leveling up to 50 and doing the main story line was more than enough skillpoints to get what I wanted.

But to be logical on what a reroll is like:
    • Level 50 Character Level
    • Level 50 Class Skill Line(x3)
    • Level 50 Weapon Skill Line(x2)
    • Level 50 Armor Skill Line
    • Level 10 Mage's Guild(Don't have to do both)
    • Level 10 Fighter's Guild(Don't have to do both)
    • Level 5 Alliance War Skill Line - Minimum
    • Main Story Line
    • Story Line to Coldharbour

All will take you 20-22ish hours to complete. So no, I don't think I'll take back anytime I've said to reroll.

i've never had all skyshards or maxed out undaunted. if you have 300+ skill points then yeah, re-rolling will be a much bigger deal to you. but if you get your chars to about 120 skill points and just get the skill lines that you want for that char then it doesn't take that long.
