I can't believe people are defending this anti-consumer gouging.
I tend to support ZoS generating revenue through non-pay-to-win sales. That revenue both pays the electric bills for servers and keeps a paycheck coming for the good folks that produce and support the game that I enjoy spending my time playing. I like to see people keep their jobs, and I like to see fun MMOs stay strongly supported into the future.

Or as mentioned I could just create a new character for free.

I would be much more OK with that reasoning if they actually added locations and NPCs to the game world. The current implementation doesn't seem to support the need for a crowns-only implementation.
I could very well be wrong, I'll admit. Someone who knows game development would need to weigh in. Does the kind of interface development needed to implement the feature as it is now actually cost more, or at least as much as, adding locations and NPCs to the game world?
Count me on the side of those who think options available in the base game should cost in-game gold, and then any new or premium options should cost crowns.
Name change and race change I believe should cost crowns, and more than just a couple.

Well and what about those people, who gave the money to create the game in the first place - the investors. They expect at least 12%p.a. to not be worse off than with much less risky investments plus their money back in a reasonable amount of time - this all has to be earned from running the game - it is not just staff and server maintenance and offices and stuff.

Name change? - what is basically just a data-base query if that name is already in existence or not?- Now give me a break.

I would like things to be unlocked. For example if I pay for hairstyle 1, and hairstyle 2, then those hairstyles become unlocked and I can change my hair when I want too.

WTF. i didn't know there were emos in ESO.

I hope housing is not done the same way because if it is they would have missed huge sandbox element for the game.
