Ice Furnace - Weapon Damage intended?

This has been bothering me for now, I was going to make a post about it a few weeks ago but decided to hold out to see what happens when/if it got updated to CP160. This set has alot of possibilities and could synergize well with an Ice Destro staff, but it was created during a time when destruction staff skills scaled with your weapon damage and has kept its weapon damage bonus ever since. I don't think this is intended and is most likely just an overlooked set.

No clue who is in charge of set bonuses so Im just going to toss this one at you @ZOS_JessicaFolsom

I know the set has always had Weapon damage on it ever since it was released. When it came out over a year ago it made sense to have that weapon damage bonus but at this point in the game it doesn't as destruction staff abilities don't scale off of weapon damage anymore. Im saying the set was most likely overlooked when 1.6 was released and everything overhauled and now that its updated to max level the set bonus should be changed with it.

If anyone is wondering why I make the assumption it was meant to be used with a destruction staff its because it procs off Frost Damage and correct me if Im wrong but theres no source of frost damage other than from sets and destruction staff abilities.

This isn't the only set that they scaled to suffer like this. The only set that the changed the 2/3/4 bonuses was Storm Knight which I would of been fine if they didn't change them lol

This is the case for many of these sets. The game has changed drastically since Feb 2015 but the sets have not been tweaked to reflect the changes. Stygian and Red Mountain are both medium but no sane magicka user is going to drop the 5L bonus. Red mountain still has the weapon damage on it as well I'm pretty sure.

I hope that the designers will go over each set and look at which niche it is trying to fill in the new 1.6+ world and adapt each one.

I really feel that changing Storm Knight was bad, at least...changing both 3 and 4 at any rate. One or the other would have been better.

And weapon crit, Red Mountain was a DK esque set design before the game designers realized how weak splitting stats would be.

Please make a few changes so that an "Ice Mage" build (5x Winterborn, 5x Ice Furnace, Maelstrom Ice Staff, Maelstrom Restoration Staff) is possible/viable:

What it should read:
(2 items) Maximum Magicka
(3 items) Magicka Recovery
(4 items) Spell Damage
(5 items) Frostfire
50% chance when damaging target with Frost to deal 1997 Frost Damage to enemies 5 meters around the initial target. Also has a 0.1% chance to slot the Frostfire Ultimate for 6 seconds, engulfing enemies in Ice for X Frost damage every second and snaring them by 30% at the cost of 300 Ultimate. Has a one second interval cooldown.

FrostFire is currently worthless.

I put together a winterborn / ice furnace build, not realising that there is a 2 second cool down on FrostFire.

You know what sucks for a set bonus? +500dps single target. Even if i hit 8 targets, + 4k. wooooopity doo.

I really wanted this to be a cool thing. It's really not.

I swapped out from winterborn / ice furnace / kena shoulders to winter born, 4 ice furnace and Nerien'eth and saw a huge damage increase. Then i replaced ice furnace entirely because of the 4th stat of weapon damage.

So annoyed.

Why doesn't the tooltip include the stupid cooldown times so we can see from the outset that this is a worthless set and just avoid it from the start?

It doesn't proc off any DoTs. It will proc off frost reach first cast, ice ring first cast, crushing shock, light attack. Will not proc off ice ring DoT, WoE at all, etc.

They did not update date this set at all. After basically only update sets and removing leveling, they didn't update this terribly designed set.

This set needs to be updated. Weapon dmg needs to be changed to Spell dmg and since there are so few sources of frost damage, it needs to be able to proc off more abilities, like WoE.
