What happened to it? Did anyone copy the data for backup?

The FB page is gone too!

The most awesome site of 2016 simply wiped away.

Anyone knows anything about this?

They also went through and deleted all their postings here and marked all their threads as "Post to Delete". Clearly something happened, it would be nice if they came in and explained.

Wouldn't be that since the ESO Twitter account promoted the site.

Yeah. As well ESO falls under Bethesda's policy... soooo videos and whatnot are totally fine (unless you do something really not okay)

    That site was amazing....

Not something ZoS did, in my experience on the internet with it being full of awful people i can almost guarantee that someone made some kind of threat against him/her and got to him/her.

Goodness, that's a disaster. Just after he upgraded the site to be even better. I'll be honest, this is worse news to me than any controversial changes coming to ESO ...

    I hope he's doing alright. :(

From what I heard eso-fashion wasn't happy about its newly born competition. But at my level it's nothing more than a rumor and I can't back it up in any way.
And even then, it doesn't prove that it's the reason for Mysticals giving up.

That said... I don't see who else could actually be negatively impacted by the mere existence of Mysticals' site.

It could easily be a Terms of Service violation - if you read the TOS of the forum-operator (it is actually meant for forums), the owner of the forum has to have a WRITTEN AGREEMENT by the brand owner, which logo is on the website and who owns the copyright to all pictures which were on the website. So I guess, the content might be taken down by the forum-operator, because there was no written agreement about this. - But this is just a guess, after I read their TOS.

    I'm really upset.

Right now I'm trying to create a Magicka TBS set and now the site is gone.

Sure ESO-Fashion exists but the UI doesn't compare.

    RIP.

Yes like I said, the brand name and copyrighted content was on the website, and those rules of that website - terms of service - demand a written agreeement with ZOS - if that is not given, they might just take the site down. Might be that company got a DMCA and acted on it. This is a guess, but it seems to me the most likely case.

I don't think so. Since ZOS promoted the site, they could have provided this written agreement easily.

If there's a copyright issue with the pictures and material on the site, then why doesn't eso fashion have copyright issues too ?
If it's a domain name issue that can be changed easily
If it's an issue with the site hosting company, that can be changed easily, too.

I don't see any "normal" reason for this huge work to be permanently trashed overnight and without an explanation. It must be something else, and we'll probably never know :-(

Most US companies which have services like this - react to an DMCA by immediate service interruption - the californian law is pretty strict and most service providers take content temporarily down as the first immediate action or block it - until the claim is resolved. In second life this was always a problem for any content provider, that a DMCA led to an immediate action of Linden Lab and the content in doubt was disabled, until this was resolved - it could be here something like this as well.

And the TOS of that side demands a written agreement - not one that could be eventually acquired, but one that already exists, before the content is put live.

ZOS created ESO but Bethesda still owns the rights to Elder Scrolls... ZOS could have been alright with it but Bethesda might not have liked it... but IDK... this could have just been a bad host that the site was being hosted with so that the creator pulled it... who knows but the original creator and it seems he won't say what happened.

Problem is, that a DMCA claim leads to an immediate action, if it is a correct claim or not, so this was quite often used to interrupt the service of a competitor in second life for example, Linden Lab HAD TO act on it immediately and ask later. The content was restored of course, when the claim was invalid - but that is how this law is abused unfortunately.

Kind of annoying when somebody makes something great then all of a sudden deletes/removes everything connected to him/her (site, twitter) without saying a word then we're all left wondering if something happened, if it's coming back, googling for information, etc...

Maybe but in that case Mysticals would have simply looked for another host to upload his work and announced here that the site would be back online soon.
He said instead that he took it down permanently and that he did not want to explain why.
So the provider-TOS theory doesn't fit, imho.
ZOS created ESO but Bethesda still owns the rights to Elder Scrolls... ZOS could have been alright with it but Bethesda might not have liked it...

That sounds more like it - would not be the first time the community managers support an initiative that the lawyers later disapprove of. Happened to a lottery organised by... Mysticals.

But this theory doesn't really fit either : what could be wrong with Mysticals' site that wouldn't impact eso-fashion in the exact same way ?

Well, it is not said that Mysticals knows about it yet.
