Should Rider Skill be account wide just like Mounts were changed from character to account wide?

You can start training mount speed well before you start leveling, if you are any good at thinking ahead.

Some people may only have 1 hour to play each day (or not even that). Having to spend 15 minutes of that time logging in on all your alts to get riding skill training and trait research going before you actually get to play, is such a waste.

It's not even a fun mechanic, no gameplay involved, it's just bait and switch to have players log in each day.

Is it a problem? Yes, because Tamriel is huge and there's a lot of running around. A slow mount is a pain in the arse. Also bag space is limited and quite expensive, so the 60 you get from riding skill is quite important.

    Poor design imo.

i vote yes, because to max everything on raiding skill are pain in the arse and take a very long time

i dont mind the gold sink, since its not even remotely expensive, but it is unecessary grind

    This again? Geez...

I'm raising 4 new characters' mount skills every day and you don't see me complaining about it... Nor did I complain about maxing all my other 8 characters'. I never once spent crowns on them either...

12 toons. ..you may have an addiction sir. It's not much of an issue this. I spend eso crowns on lessons. Save up 3 months worth and max out a toon on speed and stamina.

No just a lot of alt needs lol

When I played Redstone while OGPlanet had it I had 4 accounts, 5 characters each.

Yes, 6 months is too long to level all riding skills. Yes, riding lessons are too expensive, at least for me. But all the posts complaining about it are not going to change a thing. This was done by design, for the sole purpose of generating income. At this point I'm not sure which is more tiresome: the overt money grab from zos, or the countless complaint posts. zos is not going to shoot a cash cow. Learn to live with the suck if you can't/won't but riding lessons.

This is another way ZOS makes money, I cannot tell you how many HUNDREDS they've made off of me from buying mount upgrades and then later deleting the character; the Barbershop would have saved me a lot of money!! However, again it comes down to personal decisions and being responsible for them. I never once complained about how much I was spending because it was my choice to upgrade and delete those characters... and you say, 'a lot more people would buy them if they were cheaper or account wide' is like all the complaints about pricing of 'assistants' and yet they've made tons of money on them. OP, just because you don't want to spend the money doesn't mean others aren't willing.

I voted yes, but I do think there should be a cost involved activating it on alts if you have all skills maxed on your main. This is a gold sink afterall, but the tedium of logging in to every alt every day would be worth it IMO.

What's the rush here people? If you take the time to upgrade your toons, you're going to get there eventually.

Park your alts at a stable master. That's what I do.

I don't recall playing an MMO where my mount speeds were account shared. Sure the mounts types were, but not their speed. Whether it be a daily upgrade or needing to be a certain level to enhance it's speed.

Get yourselves retreating maneuver, +30% speed for maybe an hours work in PVP.

It's an odd mechanic for sure.

I don't really see much point in raising speed and stam above 40 and 20 respectively except for Cyro, and there it become very important.

Wouldn't mind seeing it become account wide, but let them raise the price. Maybe 750 per skill instead of 250?

At the very least, the time gate mechanic should be removed. If someone wants to drop 45k on their horse, let them do it. There's just no reason to make it take so frustratingly long to do. Stranger still is that it resets on a timer instead of at a set time. This means, if you log on earlier than usual, you won't be able to do your daily mount training until the timer is up. It just seems like a poorly thought out design.

I already have three speed 60 horses. My poor new DK is at 24 and seems agonizingly slow. I would buy the upgrades if they weren't so overpriced. Even better if at least speed were account wide. Everyone should endure the pain once, but not have to relive the ordeal repeatedly......

Please be logical and don't put words in my mouth. I never said i wasnt willing to spend money on it. I merely suggested a more reasonable price. Quite frankly, NOBODY should pay $130 per character, even if it is something you could opt out of. It's ridiculous... From a business stand point they would make way more income if they changed the way it was. And dont bring up the "just because you aren't willing to" argument. If one person is willing to pay a hundred dollars for an apple, does it justify its pricing? Don't you think you would make more of the community happy if you sold a thousand apples for 1 dollar vs selling 1 apple and leaving the rest disappointed?

I agree. Very poorly designed system. It would benefit the economy because of a huge gold sink, make the player base generally happier, and would put it up to par with all the other things that require gold for upgrade. The worst part is probably the timer. Forces you to be on a schedule with ESO rather than playing when you want with however much time you have.

its awkward that all game mechanic topic are sent in general forum BUT if you send general forum to game mechanic it removed.
this psot too will be removed when the gms read it.

I wouldn't say this is game mechanic. More of an account/crown store thing but i figured it would fit in the General category since its a bit of everything.

Nah, in this form it's a money making mechanic. A slowed down skill progression coupled with the greed store training lessons.

The skill itself has to be fixed/hastened, not the mechanic itself.

And as PvE player it is uninteresting how fast a horse is. You don't even need one.

As someone who doesn't care about the stamina or bag space bonus, just the move speed - I refuse to log onto each character once a day and spend 250g so that eventually, I won't have to suffer as much doing horse simulator (a design which I despise in the first place - it's player vs player, not player vs. long travel time/massive and mostly empty map).

I think stam and bag space should be character specific, but speed should be account wide (I would not at all mind paying an increased cost for this).

Another option is paying based on how fast you want to train the horse in a skill. Leave the 250g/day option for those who want it - each additional training per day will cost more and more, and the cost resets each day.

And what exactly do you call trait research?

    Iluvrien wrote: »
    Trait research has time restrictions.

I definitely don't want to see yet another system become account-wide. Soon we will get to the point where there will be no time investment in a new character at all if ZOS gives in to all the calls for mount training, achievements, lorebooks, skyshards etc. to be made account-wide.

Key word "training" for example, levels, skills, guilds, etc. I agree with you guys I DO NOT want trait research to be shared. What I had regard towards was things that are upgradeable with gold in game and stats that can be leveled. There are no time restrictions, only grinding/money. Also training traits is a whole different animal. It is only for crafters and is used as a service. If everybody could provide the same level of service crafters would be impacted greatly. However, mounts are used by everybody and are not in the same category as traits, crafting, services etc.. Mounts are only benefited by the person that owns them so why not let them buy it all at once just like all other upgradeables?

Because leveled stats and skills have their own time limit. The one, as you yourself suggest, of grinding/playing out the increases. There is a time limit inherent to the process. Yes, it is a variable limit due to the different ways that people play, but it remains a part of the process.

A part of me wants to say that yes, people could get around the timer after maxing out one horse... but only in a system where they pay an increased amount based on a) the amount of time they want to skip, and b) the numerical value of the level itself. So, for a skill at level 1, wanting to skip immediately to level 2 you would pay 500. Level 3 for 750, Level 4 for 1000. It would be pretty similar to the following (for the level 2, 3, 4 etc.):

    5y9goxd.png

My estimates suggest that you could max one skill line immediately for the modest sum of 457500 gold. What do you think?

i think the mount training that you buy should be shared for all toons but only ones you pay for.
