You can start training mount speed well before you start leveling, if you are any good at thinking ahead.
Have you ever played chess?
Some people may only have 1 hour to play each day (or not even that). Having to spend 15 minutes of that time logging in on all your alts to get riding skill training and trait research going before you actually get to play, is such a waste.
It's not even a fun mechanic, no gameplay involved, it's just bait and switch to have players log in each day.
Is it a problem? Yes, because Tamriel is huge and there's a lot of running around. A slow mount is a pain in the arse. Also bag space is limited and quite expensive, so the 60 you get from riding skill is quite important.
Poor design imo.

I'm raising 4 new characters' mount skills every day and you don't see me complaining about it... Nor did I complain about maxing all my other 8 characters'. I never once spent crowns on them either...
12 toons. ..you may have an addiction sir. It's not much of an issue this. I spend eso crowns on lessons. Save up 3 months worth and max out a toon on speed and stamina.
This is another way ZOS makes money, I cannot tell you how many HUNDREDS they've made off of me from buying mount upgrades and then later deleting the character; the Barbershop would have saved me a lot of money!! However, again it comes down to personal decisions and being responsible for them. I never once complained about how much I was spending because it was my choice to upgrade and delete those characters... and you say, 'a lot more people would buy them if they were cheaper or account wide' is like all the complaints about pricing of 'assistants' and yet they've made tons of money on them. OP, just because you don't want to spend the money doesn't mean others aren't willing.

There's just no reason to make it take so frustratingly long to do. Stranger still is that it resets on a timer instead of at a set time. This means, if you log on earlier than usual, you won't be able to do your daily mount training until the timer is up. It just seems like a poorly thought out design.

this psot too will be removed when the gms read it.
I wouldn't say this is game mechanic. More of an account/crown store thing but i figured it would fit in the General category since its a bit of everything.
UltimaJoe777 wrote: »And what exactly do you call trait research?Trait research has time restrictions.
I definitely don't want to see yet another system become account-wide. Soon we will get to the point where there will be no time investment in a new character at all if ZOS gives in to all the calls for mount training, achievements, lorebooks, skyshards etc. to be made account-wide.
Key word "training" for example, levels, skills, guilds, etc. I agree with you guys I DO NOT want trait research to be shared. What I had regard towards was things that are upgradeable with gold in game and stats that can be leveled. There are no time restrictions, only grinding/money. Also training traits is a whole different animal. It is only for crafters and is used as a service. If everybody could provide the same level of service crafters would be impacted greatly. However, mounts are used by everybody and are not in the same category as traits, crafting, services etc.. Mounts are only benefited by the person that owns them so why not let them buy it all at once just like all other upgradeables?
