Keep outer wall climbing?

Tired of the same ol' get siege down drills? There should be a grappling hook sold by siege merchants that allows you to scale just the outer walls of keeps not inner. It should take about 1 minute to climb over and used by only 1 player at a time. In that time an enemy player or NPC can knock you down and or destroy the rope. Once inside you can stealthily kill NPC's to open the gate. If detected by either an NPC or enemy Player than a infiltration symbol will appear over that keep on the map such as burst but doesn't hinder the use of transitus shrines.

    Players climbing walls should take 100% additional damage while in this state. Why? Your hands are occupied, what are you going to do when someone strikes you, block?

    Makes battles more fun as we not only have to worry about scaling the wall, we also have to worry about sneaky players going in the wall!

    Sounds a lot better being the attacker considering i wouldnt be forced to try chippin away at the door only to have the DC or AD Emperor transit over and hunt me down.

    Sounds like crap as a defender considering the safety of the keep while theyre still stuck outside is all i have to enjoy in PvP.

    I'm against it just because it's always lacked any kind of balance (due to not being intended).

    It also is sucky to lose keeps without any sign of combat in that area, I would be fine for it to stay if guards seeing players inside keeps set off a map flag to say enemies are inside. We shouldn't have to have one actual player sitting doing nothing inside keeps just to scout for people going over walls.

    This system could work, but again steal captures are bad.

    That would be awesome, yes. Even if it weren't a grappling hook, it could be a make-shift ladder like what the Orc's would use in LoTR or something.

    One of the beginning quests in davons watch has you burn a bunch of siege equipment, in that equipment are some siege ladders. Hint, hint.

    I voted for it as it is happening all the time as an exploit (and repeatedly reported to ZoS). So make it legal and buff the guards accordingly, make then earn it.

    Im against, one should not have as easy way to get in the keep as it can be easly abused, but... Huge siege towers that work similar to rams, that can be placed only at a certain distance from keep walls and then slowly pushed closer by few players...

    I am in for all things that add diversity to the kinds of tools and fights in Sieges :)

    From last week's experience:
    defending a Keep while Players keep jumping from the outher wall to the inner fortress makes the combat much more exciting !
    And if that is incorporated in the game mechanics... it should become an Alliance skill, accessible for all classes.
    Only jumping to the outher wall from outside the keep should imo be fenced of with some invisible fence.

    So Siege ladders and grappling hooks, scaling the outher wall, as a slow and damage vulnerable action: yes !
    Add Siege towers for the outher wall: why not ?
    For the inner wall I think scaling should not be possible.

    What could also be added is an secret passage from the inner keep to the outside.
    All old castles had one.
    To be used to get new defenders in.
    But also a weak spot for the defense when the enemy uses it to come in.

    Every time the Keep gets a new owner the outside world entrance is somewhere else

    You pre cast all manners of shields and dodges before climbing?

    I am for it... It is realistic and then ZOS could stop saying using leap on to walls is considered a exploit, since they clearly can't fix the ability.

    What do you think in general about adding a keep climb passive or ability to the alliance skill line?
    To avoid that people can grind guards to flip a keep solo you could add challenging Lords to the flag room like you did in DAOC.

    This would at least be intended. Instead of all the broken gap closers that people are exploiting. They would have to include fall damage as well.

    I'm pretty sure there already is fall damage.

    To much of the design would need to change if a means to climb the wall was introduced. Warning that a keep is under attack is based on wall dammage. If a a group could merely scale the walls, kill some NPCs and turn the flags without notice the game would change completely and probably not for the better

    Had a few issues with the idea. First with the present meta of players power, guards are virtually useless. Unlike release where guards were at least something to be wary of players now just crush guards in seconds. Add the useless guards with being able to climb walls and keeps will constantly be taken with no warning and no chance of any real defense

    They would need to put in some kind of keep under attack alert system before I would be for it . One that goes off when guards spot a player .

    They did this with Dark Age of Camelot and it worked pretty well and added tactics to the gameplay, siege front doors while stealthers climb up the back side of the keep to create havoc....

    Well, keep lords need to be added and should be much stronger in ESO.
    Same with scroll, it's a joke if you compare it with Relic raids in DAOC.

    ESO PvP raids are nothing special and not challenging. It's sad that so much potential is not used in Cyrodiil and IC.

    Then I actually read your cool idea. I do like it quite a bit.

    I'm not for this design. 1 min..... really? sorry, no.

    But I am for a way to scale the outer wall. This system was in DAOC but only stealth classes could do it if my memory serves me right. In Warhammer Online melee classes could by pass locked doors to get in but it had like a 15 min cd on that ability. Either way i feel that this should be an added plus to counter counter-siege approach. Also make it so you don't have 5 guys using counter siege and 20 standing around looking dumb.
