I have a great solution. Get rid of guild traders. Stop the insanity and let the people chose social groups for PVE and PVP purposes only. Nobody chats in guild traders that are specific for trading. They only want your gold.
Wow! Totally off base and 110% wrong! I'm in 4 trade guilds, and we just chat and joke all day long. Quite frankly, they're more active and more social than some previous social guilds that I was in, as well as my PVP/PVE guild that mainly just talks shop when there's talk at all. In fact, my guild trader TS channels are almost 100% social chat, along with helping one another out with quests, groups, etc. You seriously need to learn what you're talking about before attempting to derail a thread about a serious issue that is VERY simple for ZOS to solve.
I got up bright and early to see what all the kerfuffle was about. My Trade Officers are threatening revolt and violence on my person.
Good grief.
ZOS, respectfully, the current system is painful. Please do something fast. I have some modest ideas.
QUICK SOLUTION Separate maintenance and bidding. Preferably by at least an hour. Please give us time to confirm win/loss bids and go hunting for an open spot.
Move the bid time to a more convenient time.
SLOW SOLUTION Replace or tweak the delicately balanced ad-hoc system you have in place. Don't screw it up, everybody will scream.
Trade routes- In addition to the current static kiosks; A set of 2-4 trade routes in each political zone. Guilds bid on routes in a zone, higher bids get awarded better routes. Low bids get less desirable routes. Guild trader walks around. Balance for flavor.
Daedric Kiosks in the Imperial City- Trade is PvP! More integration and co-dependencies between PvE, PvP and Trade please. Give us a 3-7 day "Merchant's Campaign" with Dremora Traders in the IC biddable every campaign reset. Allow guilds to declare faction loyalty. Limit bidding on IC Kiosks to members of the faction winning the PREVIOUS iteration of the campaign. Test thoroughly, balance to taste.
Elite Traders- Enable a mechanic that allows guilds to Claim/Sponsor any PvE run. Have a set of cool Kiosk vendors in wicked locations bidding limited to LEADERBOARD guildies with appropriate guild perms. Scale carefully and mix with lore for best results.
Go thou forth and create ZOS. You guys rock, I love your game. I totally know you can fix this.
Gank!

Having a week off from this stuff was GREAT, thanks!
But... https://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/en/discussion/comment/3134235#Comment_3134235 ZOS moved it earlier and plans to keep it on Monday. This is only better if we're sure it will last less than 4 hours. Since we can never be sure we still have to get up early, then get up again. Is there a reason that the maintenance can't be Tuesday every week, or the traders changeover Sunday? Or maintenance at 8:30 or 9am? PS3 and Xbox don't have to deal with it.
Something else of concern here is the game opening up in Japan. We are adding an entire COUNTRY of players, hopefully thousands of new players in the game. These players are naturally going to want to create their own trade guilds and get into the market. Currently the market is so crowded that a PVE guild trying to get a trader this week lost a bid at over 100K on an outlier location to a guild with 0 items for sale. This is the norm, not the exception for new guilds trying to get into the market unless they are bankrolled by a major trade guild or a large amount of personal gold. People who don't want to be forced to be in 4 trade guilds, we need more trader stalls so that social and PVE, PVP guilds can also get traders. I have proposed that each refuge be changed to 2 traders instead of 1 adding 19 to the game, and that each starter island be increased to 2 adding 6 (Kynarthi could get 4 traders in one spot, or 2 traders in the smaller city) 25 more trade spots won't compensate for a whole country of players, but it would at least help.
