Opening all abilities? That'd be a devil to balance. Already you hear (read) GAM TOO EAZY! I R ELITE! Type posts( as a brand new player with no cp and limited time I'm actually enjoying it, my previous exp mainly an EQ monk with a 20% exp penalty(GRUELING early eq solo). Had I the time I had back then I'd probably say it's too easy as well though...) Your developers would have to work ot trying to keep content SOMEWHAT challenging with ganking/sorcerer/saptank/healers. It sounds like FUN, but doubt Z gonna 're do the whole game.

    New class though? Well...

    One Classes?

Maybe do One Mounts in the future? Or maybe One Levelling?

Can we just get rid of all skill and choice?

I want in game macros that execute the best combos for me at a one button press

I agree with the OP that classes should be removed. For those who disagree though, how about a compromise which allows us to pick which three skill lines we want on our character - but in a still somewhat restrictive way.

What if ZOS could line up the skill lines into three groupings and allow us to select one skill line from each group. Example:

Group A - Restoring Light, Shadow, Lightning, Earthen Heart

Group B - Aedric Spear, Assassin, Daedric Summoning, Dragon

Group C - Dawn's Wrath, Siphoning, Dark Magic, Ardent Flame

With a setup like this we would have much more diversity in builds and see more creative players.

Remove all classes so everyone is running the same Mets setup. This is definitely not the option. Classes create diversity in this game

Forced diversity, that makes sets of people weaker by the arbitrary bad decisions of Wrobel and friends, is not a good thing.

Forced unbalanced diversity is worse than no diversity.

Forced diversity with classes, literally creates classes of people (castes)...which is what needs to be avoided for a paying customer playerbase.

If they can't balance the classes, just remove them. I'm for classes existing, but not at the rate that Wrobel is getting things done (ahem...broken).

All ES games up to Oblivion had classes of sorts.

To just give all skills to anyone would be mayhem.

Enough system changes for now, ZOS.

Most also had a custom option...

I don't think I ever used one of the stock classes...

Being able to choose skills from any class tree would be awesome. Imagine the build possibilities.

Of which 1 would be used by most people. The game just wasnt designed to be class-less. Also the class-less hype reminds me of the trinity-free hype from a few years back. Load of crap that turned out to be in practice.

Instead of removing classes, I'd rather they add skill lines any class could access. For example, Soul Magic could be reworked into a Summoning skill tree, with Daedric, Nature and Necromancy. Sorcs could get something besides pets in their class skills. It would open up options like Nightblade Rangers and Templar Wyrds.

    Only in my dreams.

Best we can hope for is spellcrafting and new skill lines that over time lessen the importance of your class.

    I must agree with this.
Whilst I think (hope) One Tamriel will be an amazing addition, I do think ZoS development is caught in the remaking cycle a little too much.

I'm sure a classes system could be introduced to the game and done so relatively successfully, but that doesn't mean I think they should do it. I'd like to see more content, news zones, new thought out stories. New Dungeons, veteran versions of existing dungeons, new Daedric realms, new daily mission mechanics added, housing, perhaps justice system revisited etc etc.

Every moment that is spent reworking something is time not spent on adding something new to the game.
If you can be anything, be kind.

Yeah they would amount to 3 tops that everyone runs.

Like now then...I certainly wouldn't go that way. It'd be great for pve.

They need to make a tank class a tank class, healer should be healer ...but no a tank or healer classes making more dps than DPS classes that is why eso will never be able to achive "class balance"

    tank class should be tank
    healer class should be healer
    dps class should be dps

everytime there should be a rule, if there isnt and anyone can be anything that time you cant make anything right...

Please no, that would be awful. And it would need a complete overhaul of all the classes. I'd rather have them work on bug and lag instead on some outdated MMO trinity (which we already kinda have with DK being best tank, templar best healer).

Except, as I posted earlier, it doesn't happen that way in the MMOs where anyone can learn anything. You see a bunch of different builds and tons of diversity. Removing restrictions allows more freedom in character development, not less...

In truth, he/she is right. The small, vocal minority of 'elite pro gamers' that inhabit the top social stratta of every game, are always reduced to one, two or three top builds. This is a rule of law, both in class filled systems (WoW) and classless systems (EvE).

This was eventually defined as Meta. And is also where I feel the argument of 'everyone will be one or two classes' in a freeform system is a hollow argument against the removal of classes, because it's exactly what we already have (as you stated in an earlier reply).

Removing classes will offer more for the vast majority of the non-pro gamers (myself included), who aren't attempting to optimize and min-max to the very top 1% of each spec. My Stamina nightblade archer has worked from day one, and over that time he's been awful and bugged, and damn good and op, and many places in between. I built him because I WANTED to build him, not because he was optimized at all.

But the META mentality will not be removed or changed from it's current 'two good builds' system. It will always remain, doesn't matter if you have 20 classes, or none.
Ruze Aulus. Mayor of Dhalmora. Archer, hunter, assassin. Nightblade.
Gral. Mountain Terror. Barbarian, marauder, murderer. Nightblade.
Na'Djin. Knight-Blade. Knight, vanguard, defender. Nightblade.

    XBOX NA
Ruze is a veteran of the PC Beta, lived through the year one drought, survived the buy-to-play conversion, and has stepped foot in the hells known as Craglorn. He mained a nightlbade when nightblades weren't good, and has never worn a robe. He converted from PC during the console betas, and hasn't regretted it a moment since.

He'd rank ESO:TU (in it's current state) a 4.8 out of 5, loving the game almost entirely.

This is an multiplayer game. I should be able to log in, join a dungeon, join a battleground, queue for a dolmen or world boss or delve, teleport in, play for 20 minutes, and not worry about getting kicked, failing to join, having perfect voice coms, or being unable to complete content because someone's lagging behind. Group Finder and matchmaking is broken. Take a note from Destiny and build a system that allows from drop-in/drop-out functionality and quick play.
