Can we get a comment on why you thought nerfing these weapons was necessary ZOS?

The way I see it, they added some build diversity other than the "use vMSA 2H/DW/Bow", though they were perhaps too easy to acquire for the amount of power they had.

Many people created builds focused around Torug's Pact & these weapons.

    Patch notes state:
    Item Sets
Fixed an issue where the default enchantments on Alliance War weapons had higher values than intended.

These enchants have always been special & higher value than other enchants. I personally used the Covenant's Bow back in the days before V16, solely for the double value enchant it had.

So I don't see how this is considered a "fix" to an "issue".

Here's from the youtube comments section of one of my ancient videos (https://youtu.be/90WpigekWo0) to prove that these special enchants have been there since the beta of this game:

And what kind of bow and enchant in it? Vampire or ww?

Bow is Covenant's Bow (found from Rewards of the Worthy when doing PvP), which has an enchantment that is 2x stronger than normal enchantments (deals 1k unresistable damage).
Better than this would be Master's Bow (preferably with Sharpened trait), but I haven't been lucky enough to get one yet (drops from VDSA, or as campaign rewards for top 2% of leaderboard when campaign ends).

(note that the damage is from before all damage/stats etc got a 10x modifier)

Can we get an official response on why you nerfed these weapons, @Wrobel @ZOS_JessicaFolsom ? Many people I know (myself included) are really pissed off about this change.

You mean...ZOS fixed something that wasn't broken? That's never happened before. :|

Yeah but anyone with a lick of common sense knew that the Alliance War weapons damage was bugged from the door with 5000 unresistible damage, I mean come on.

On the other hand ZOS didn't have to make them completely useless again, but w/e life goes on.

2500... 5k crit. Now reduce it even more /armor, crit dmg resist/ So ZoS fix AW weapons because OP but they left vMA weapons(which are literaly stronger) untouched ? seems legit.

Really? NOW? After I spent hundreds of thousands making a working build that utilizied one of these specific weapons...

3 weeks after the launch when you "fix" things?

I don't know anymore what builds or sets or items to craft/spend money on, because I don't know what is yet to be "fixed"...

This is so unreliable, anything can become trash overnight (or should i say overday, because you are patching the freaking client on EU primetime!?)...

I have been in eso since beta and now I'm seriously considering just dropping this, with all this awful crap going on... it just doesn't seem to get better.

edited title to remove abbreviated profanity

If something that costs 6k gold and everyone and their dog can acquire, deals more unresistable damage than god himself or gives you clever alchemist worth of stat boost - it is a fair chance it's broken.

I tried to warn my guildmates about this, i really did, but they proceeded to make builds around it. Next time they should listen to people and take heed and use their heads.

2500 in PvP. Every 4 seconds (cooldown on enchants).

There's a set that gives you 10k tooltip damage (5k in PvP) from melee hits every 4 seconds...

Not to mention the bow only comes in Precise, which means 8% less armor penetration.

    FYI 5k enchant with 4s cooldown=1250 DPS

Also, it wasn't "bugged" if it has intentionally had special enchant since the freaking beta of this game, just like every other faction weapon (Covenant/Pact/Dominion Greatsword, Inferno Staff, Lightning Staff, Axe, Sword) - which all got nerfed & made useless (reducing build diversity to vMSA weapons).

Looks like ZoS is going down the P2W road. Buy our DLCs or get smacked in the face by superior gear. But not surprising at all considering ZoS policies of putting most desired stuff behind pay wall. And what ppl desire most? Advantage over other players, ofc. Im expecting this to continue, even escalate in future DLCs. If you want BiS gear, you will have to buy DLCs. Maybe i would be ok with that policy if their DLCs didnt consist of 2 quests, 150 bugs and a feature that every single MMO has from very beginning. Which makes you ZoS both greedy and lazy at the same time. Shameeee........

The above poster is right, this game has 1000's of pieces/sets that are completely useless or broken. Worst itemize of any game.

Now everyone is FORCED to run VMA endlessly. With out VMA weapons, you are simply out-geared in PvP. So stupid.

Meanwhile, I'm always in the top 100 of my server in standard crafted weapons. Top 40 if I got a few days off. Even got to 2nd once without a guild or farming AP.

Cool story bro. You're not forced to do anything.

Dude, I can be top #1 simply by repairing walls and spamming Regeneration, your point is far from valid.

Thanks for proving my point that you're not forced to do anything to be good in PVP.

I think you have a weird perception of what being good at PvP means.

Hint: it has very little to do with Cyrodiil leaderboards no one cares about.

I understand that you can mess with the leaderboards. That said, if you're not trying to fudge your score the leaderboard is still a good way to judge. Regardless, I still use crafted weapons and do perfectly fine in PVP. Use whatever mental gymnastics you want to state how your way of judging who is good and who isn't. All I know is that I am very good at it and I don't need to use these weapons to be so. Nobody is forced to use anything.

You are correct in that regard, there are builds not using vMSA weapons that do perfectly fine. Even builds that are better without them.

There were much, much more of those builds before they decided to nerf these faction weapons.

Dafuck it matters when I joined the forums? I could not find my old forum account and it took me a MONTH to get a support response from ZOS and getting a new account created. Mind your own business.

And it does matter that I've been here since beta, I even pre-ordered the damn game (which all bonuses are completely useless now anyway) and I have been paying sub fees since then.

Yeah, I remember when Templar's were epic at the launch of 1.6... Then they were "fixed", I'm still playing though, what can I say? I love Tamriel and I love this game. Despite the fact that sometimes things change. I suppose years of playing MMO's have me inured to this fact.

One thing that bothers me - I wouldn't even guess that enchant was a "bug", really...

    It's not a bug, it's a feature!

Next they'll say that you need to have every set piece to use certain effects and Clever Alchemist weapon swap builds are broken...

Agility rings = special; more set effects
Faction weapon = special; stronger enchants
Sets with effects staying after weapon swap = special; totaly alters your playstyle and mechanic awareness to fully use them

Aren't they FEATURES?! Like - choose between fancy 5th piece set effect or more plain stats. Or do the redguard dance as a part of your rotation to proc Blessing of Blessingness giving you +345 Awesomeness for 15 seconds to increase your DPS by 5%.

I understand adjustments in MMO's; however, it always aggravates the heck out of me when games' patch notes read like what the OP's did and this one contained in the same patch:

    Alliance War

    Assault
Caltrops: Made some performance adjustments for this ability and its morphs.

All right, some 'performance adjustments' were made, but why not even slightly elaborate? Delineating changes such as decreased\ increased removed\augmented range, aoe, casting times, effects etc. lend clarity and decrease my time as a player figuring out just what changes were made. A tad more info cannot take that much more time to do.

You don't need to know, because they are "performance" changes, not changes to the way the skill performs and acts. No stats or attributes of the actual skill have been changed, but the changes are back-end, client-server based. To us it wouldn't make the slightest bit of difference if they said what they changed or not because those changes are back-end.
And most people probably don't even give a hoot if the skill remains unchanged in terms of it's usability, so why bother posting indepth description about it if it doesn't really affect us as players in the first place?
