I finally got a maelstrom destruction staff to drop. Granted it's precise trait ice staff. I was wondering, which staff is the strongest?

I would assume that Maelstrom Inferno Staff Sharpened would be the best for most builds, but it would really depend on what your set up is like.

Inferno gives the higher damage output, and you can land pretty good hits when a heavy attack crits. I've switched between Inferno and Lightning and the Lightning staff just does not do the damage I need overall. I still have no idea about Ice Staves really. I never seem to get down to crafting one for testing.

Then again I NEVER see anyone else using one either.

For a sorc if you only tap weave lightning is actually the best. But I prefer medium weaving with fire staff.

For pve it's inferno, sorcerers can get away with using lightning ... ice staff is suitable for pvp, not pve - unless you want to run a special snowflake build & gear, like I do sometimes :p

I would just tell myself that the one I got was the best and then never run that potion dump arena again.

Ice staff is pretty neat for PvP due to the snares, and Lightning staff too cuz it can't get reflected

But Fire does more damage, so it's the best for DPSers in PvE

Try spamming Destructive Reach with it. Decent damage, little more expensive than force pulse...but that perma root gets irritating :)

I favour lightning staves myself because I find it easier to recharge magicka with a heavy attack when I'm nearly out.

Inferno and lightning are both good, depends on your class as to which one to back-bar. But a set staff doen't make that great a difference and means you can keep the set bonus on the back bar as well.

"I am a nightblade. Blending the disciplines of the stealthy agent and subtle wizard, I move unseen and undetected, foil locks and traps, and teleport to safety when threatened, or strike like a viper from ambush. The College of Illusion hides me and fuddles or pacifies my opponents. The College of Mysticism detects my object, reflects and dispels enemy spells, and makes good my escape. The key to a nightblade's success is avoidance, by spell or by stealth; with these skills, all things are possible."

Please don't do this! They actually tried to find an existing thread for their question or comment, rather than creating a shiny new one that duplicated the seventeen other threads on the same first page of the forums.

This is a good thing, and we should encourage it! Gently pointing out that if the thread is too old is good, but not being mean is even better, because we want people to keep being actually sensible about not making duplicate threads.
