Easiest way to get rubedo leather, jump in Old Orsinium, load your aoe bars up, get a speed buff if you have one and run loops killing all the animals around the first section of the dungeon. Nothing remotely comparable that I've found. There's some spider pulls mixed in too but those are rather worthwhile now too with eggs dropping.

    Right Way.

    You're all doing it wrong.

Either farm something else to make money, or, do a ton of dungeons. Your inventory will be overflowing before you know it of all the items to deconstruct that will return rubedo.

Lol at anyone seriously farming mud crabs. Go farm flowers. Sell, buy leather.

You don't farm beasts for leather scraps if you need leather. Waste-of-time. You farm other mobs for the deconstruct-able rubedo armor they drop. Deconstructing one common piece of armor will get you up to 7 full pieces of leather. If you're farming anyways, why not farm something that's gonna drop gold, as well as more of the leather you need?

This one is having no problem finding rubedo (side note I've noticed many people on both the EU and AD seem to have a problem pronouncing this word), but seriously between Wrothgar, Hew's Bane, and Cyrodiil, as well as unwanted armor drops, we have an abundance of it.

@Korah_Eaglecry : If you (or anyone else) needs Rubedo Leather, come to the BlackHandsofSithis Trader in Craglorn.

I don't have a single character that uses Medium Armor, but I still kill things and get/refine a ton of Rubedo Leather to sell. I have full stacks of 200 for sale for a relatively low price if anyone needs Rubedo Leather on the quick.

I'm happy fulfill those crafting needs. :)

    ;)

If you are going for the raw leather, try going for the "Flawless Tailfeather" trophy from the harpies. I swear I've gotten 5 stacks of leather so far and no trophy to show for it. >_<

As others have pointed out, deconstructing things is a good source of rubedo leather. Farming those in IC gives you the added advantage that you can buy more leather with Tel-Var stones if you so wish.

    Other locations not yet mentioned:

    - Normal Fungal Grotto (all those mudcrabs)
    - Blackheart Haven (all those harpies)
    The Moot Councillor

In case it hasn't been mentioned (I didn't see it) if you go into the sewers in Imperial City and just farm Tel Var stones you can easily get leather like a madman within hours.

    Again I say:

The Gold zones (CP160) should be dropping these top level crafting mats. Currently they are CP140 mats and nodes only.

Never gonna happen. Thats what the DLC zones are for.... $$$.

Running the sewers is a good source of rubido leather, just from the sheer number of leather goods that drop from monsters. Get in a group and go wild, and it soon stacks up when you head back and deconstruct everything.

Most of my characters right now are running around in the same gear they had pre-vet-removal. It's absolutely fine for normal questing.

I already had 1 character at VR16 with fully upgraded max level gear, so she shares some of her gear with other stamina characters if they want to do content that requires better gear than is needed for questing.

I also made a max level 5 piece set of Julianos for my magicka characters to swap around between them for higher difficulty content.

I do intend to equip more characters with their own gear eventually, as it's a bit of a pita swapping gear around, but there's no real urgency for me to have every character with their own gear right now. I'll wait until I have built up my own stocks a bit and mat prices come down - they will come down, because quest rewards and some (not all) mob drops from gold zones are now 150/160 gear, so at least get 1 piece from each decon.

I had a character at lvl 49 who has now jumped to vet levels. So in one shot she went from LVL 49 to CP160. Suddenly all the monsters that scale are much more deadly. I'm not sure why since the whole area is scaled to CP150 anyway but I guess her equipment must scale based on her level, not the level of the gear. Maybe someone has a better idea how this works.

    This is why.

Basically the way scaling is set up, it makes low level characters stronger in many aspects than fully geared max level ones. So when you ding 50, you are no longer scaled up and you move from being a god to being a PoS scrub and then have to work your way up to being a wimp.

LoL, well I just built all new gear at the proper (new) level and that seems to have fixed the issue. Also new pots, food, and jewelry. Not optimized by any means, and all just purple gear , but fine for any PVE short of end game stuff.

I typically don't have an issue in Wrothgar and Hew's Bane. Usually get a good drop or rubedo scraps, but I typically kill every bears, lions and most any nature's beasties I run into. Most of the time, things respawn fairly quickly, so, if you do your rounds, you will run into them again.. doesn't matter who had killed them prior. I don't know.. things may respawn quicker during peak time of gameplay. I can be standing around and within a couple minutes, the beasties, ore, plants or treasure chests will respawn. Now, trying to refine the rubedite ores, rubedo and ancient silks to get the right materials towards upgrading to gold.. now that's a crazy story.

Ive been running a circuit in Hews Bane as it has the best clusters of leather dropping mobs that I can move through. But its been a bit daunting to get through some of it, mostly because I can go 2 or so hours and barely pop 100 unrefined scraps. Ima try some of the other areas that people have been mentioning here and see if I get better drops for my efforts.

I did the same in Gold Coast and did no better than this. I think I collected enough gold from those same kills to buy almost an equal amount in guild stores (I did shop a dozen guilds for the best price). Since there are quicker way to farm gold this may not be there best use of my time.
