Sorry if this is obvious or I've missed something but if, for example, a player with no alts reaches lvl 50 for the first time, are they able to craft rubido stuff straight away or are there tiers of materials (as of Vet ranks)?
Also, how many CP would a person with no alts getting to 50 for the first time have? I'm not sure if 0 or 160. This is a question for my bro who is playing with me now, and cant be bothered searching!
You don't start earning CPs until you reach 50, so your first character would hit 50 with 0 CPs.
EDIT I guess you get 10 free points for reaching L50, so your only at 0 points for like a microsecond, if that.
However the catch up mechanism means you will earn your first points much faster than say your 300th point.
As for Crafting, you can craft any level gear you have the skills for, once you have invested the skill points in the material passives. Crafting skills are independent of character level, although you need a leveled character have enough skill points to be an accomplished crafter. I think you will need 5 (6?) points in the Material Passive in each Equipment line you want to craft for making your first gear for the Champ Ranks.

Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.

That would be cool to get 10 points off the bat. It has been so long since I went Vet, that I don't ever see these transitions.
Note to OP, if you do get 10 points off the bat, spend them in the constellation that gives a chance to double the stuff you get from node harvesting, you want that passive if your going to craft.

Everyone will be given ten champion points once your first character hits level 50. (This is only for your first character to hit level 50, and assumes you don't have any champion points already). You only earn champion points on characters who are level 50 (although you can use the champion points on all your characters, regardless of level).
To make CP160 gear requires a level 10 in that crafting ability. The first level is unlocked automatically, so you will need 9 skill points per craft for each (woodworking, blacksmithing, and clothier).
So, as a bit of a crafter, I can make rubedo items for my bro that he can wear straight off the bat once he hits level 50 (his only toon)? No need for all that voidsteel and vet crafting mats inbetween?
@Nestor cheers mate I notice you're pretty quick and informative when answering questions; it's appreciated
Edit: I guess what I'm saying is does he need 160 CP on his account to be able to wear rubido/ancestor
Assuming you've leveled and put points into the required crafting skills, you can craft any level of gear.
You can only equip gear if you've earned the equivalent number of CPs. Rubedo is CP150 & CP160, so you can only equip if your account has earned at least 160 Champion Points and your toon has hit level 50.
Example: I had a VR12 that did all my crafting. My VR12 couldn't equip the VR16 gear they made. With the DB release, my VR12 (with all the CPs I earned on it and my VR16), can now equip all the VR16/CP160 equipment.
Ok it makes sense now, I really do struggle getting my head around this stuff even though I've been playing for ages, every day! I suppose it'll all fall into place when we get DB for consoles.
